Amnolith
I also did not see any fix for the drop downs at vendors not filtering properly. "Show usable" still does not show "usable" items properly making one doubt any purchases. An eta for a simple search on the galactic trade network would be nice. Are you guys even aware that the drop downs are not filtering properly? I am surprised this is not an easy fix as it filters for all companions instead of just the player also the search on the auction house was already in place so why is it still not back yet? Also I posted this on the Test server forum...it was immediately closed asking me to post it on the general forums...which I suspect it will also be closed asking me to post it somewhere else or telling me it is not a constructive thread. If it is not possible to draw attention to serious issues with the game without having threads closed then the only thing you are doing is bad PR and alienating players. And still we do not get any communication about providing searches both in game and on the forums. I appreciate that you guys are busy but at this time it confirms a lack of willingness to listen to constructive criticism and an obvious desire to shut off any dissenting comments. You are aware people want and need a search both in game and on the forums and still no communication on this subject is being provided.
ineverpost
Turning on the search feature in vBulletin takes about 15 seconds. They just don't have the hardware to allow it. (They are cheap.)
Phoenixblight
Just because they don't respond to the comments in forums doesn't mean they don't know about it. They know, they are busy working. Would you honestly feel better you just got a generic statement saying we plan on fixing it "soon"? I use the GTN quite frequently while I do find the search feature and the filters not working to be an minor annoyance. Its not something to be making a doom and gloom post. ineverpost
A response from the company YOU ARE PAYING is better than no response at all.
Vitellius
A response from the company YOU ARE PAYING is better than no response at all. Just because you're paying doesn't entitle you to demand anything and everything at the moment you decide it should be given. You're getting exactly what you're paying for. They are working on Bugs now and the other stuff like UI stuff and extra content will come sometime in the next couple of months. Hell, I'll bet that a ton of the Engineering staff (ie Programmers) is off for the Holidays. They will kick off the new year by working their butts off to fix as many issues as the Beta and Live players have brought up. It take time to write code esp if you want it to work without problems. Turning vbulletin's search on can be done in a matter of seconds. Patching the UI for the Auction House can also be done quickly...its a simple flag enabling you to query the database without pre-set filters. The reasons why those two are off is because apparently they create too much strain on both hardwares. Please don t tell me they are working on this when they have known for many many months that these were issues. With vbulletin it is because it is a bad piece of software. It may be the most well known open source licensed forum software but it is meant to be optimized for large installs. I would even suspect that mmo-champion and curse get more traffic on their forums and handle the load better. I understand many of you need to defend the company at this point but sometimes it becomes pointless to always defend the company against any critic and right now I am unsure as to why two of the most basic tools needed are still not implemented. You're getting exactly what you're paying for. You're right about not getting everything you want, but when you're paying a company you deserve better PR than what BW is giving. I didn't mind the "soon" stuff pre-release, but now that I paid $60 and a $15 subscription fee a "soon" response isn't anywhere near acceptable. I was reading a Q&A Stephen Reid did and all the answers were "we're aware" and "can't talk about that" and "no ETA on that." If I EVER told my clients that at work I would be out of a job. It's unprofessional to treat paying customers that way. I have no clue why a company such as BioWare is acting like that. It's astonishing. GhoXen
That doesn't sound as important as game-breaking companion/quest bugs. You can search things manually. It's more tedious, but it's still doable unlike some other bugs which are being fixed.
Atrix
A developer mentioned a day or two ago that the forums search feature should be turned on once the traffic load eases up some. The search and indexing features can really push the database that is already being taxed. They know we want it and that it is needed, they just don't want to bring the whole thing down by turning it back on. I wouldn't think it should be more than a month until it is back. As far as the market UI and the search feature. It sounds like it is on of their priority list to revise, but probably still a good month away. Right now their main targets are core functions that are directly impacting game play. The market is still usable albeit not very user friendly. I say wait and see what rolls out in Patch 1.1 in January with the other in game content features and see if they put other client/UI changes in it as well. For right now, most of the patches are going to be bug fixes to clean up things that weren't discovered until the larger beta test and the first couple of weeks of live access. Patch 1.0.2 already looks like it is going to take a good chunk of the key bugs out, so we are making progress.

Be sure to check the Dev Tracker feed and also the Customer Service forum. You'll see reps jump in their quite often and at least give some information that can quickly be overlooked. Why can't they just make an announcement with that information? I'm frustrated with the way they're treating issues. So many secrets! But you can't deny that a lot of things are secrets with these people. There are some things that are totally understandable, but when 100% of things are "no ETA" it gets a bit insane. I wouldn't say they are keeping it secret, it is just that there is a lot of information coming out and we really don't have a centralized tracking system to catch every single comment. I believe they have to tag their posts to ensure the Dev Tracker catches it. Now you could look at a third party site and Darth Hater does have a Dev Tracker that catches everything...and I mean everything: http://www.darthhater.com/devtracker

The AMA was very disapointing. I would have expected that Mr Reid would have learned from seeing how Blizzard managed their community. Has there been even a single blog post about the game besides the small preview of the next expansion? Nothing has been mentioned about what features are being worked on actively. I always refer to the simple thing of all: the search functionality. It is missing, people need and want it but the only thing being done is threads being closed and the same yellow answer that they are working on it. There is no "working on it", its a toggle within the vbulletin admin panel. The search uses a simple mysql query everytime it is run. It can be throttled. The only "work" that can be made is the buff up the hardware for the forums and maybe spread the load of separate the forums between a european and american installs with drupal in the middle since you are using Drupal. You can use several high end caches system like what Facebook uses to improve your load and most of all you could simply write your own forums like bungie, microsoft, apple, blizzard and eve have done. There are other forums packages out there like Invision that provide better global solution than vbulletin and would solve your mysql issues...you just need to be willing to listen to critics and comments. But I see no feedback and bugs or website forums so I suppose the directive is to focus the community only on discussions about the game and mostly nothing else. I also suspect that there is indeed a very very small community team since you decided to not create any server forums. Its your game, you do what you want...just don t be surprised when bad word of mouth comes back. Respectfully...
