Whatever happened to helping out fellow players?

Whatever happened to helping out your fellow players? I mean come on i've been sitting here the last 30 minutes or more asking for assistance or help on a class storyline quest and everyone seems to be either off in their own little world or just doesn't care about helping their fellow players progress in the game! We're supposed to be helping out each other here not twiddling our thumbs or oops sorry but i'm too high and mighty to help out a fellow player progress in the game when the ask or are in need of help. True we are playing characters in a fictional game but behind those fictional characters are real people who have feelings and who often wonder why it is that people even in an internet multplayer role playing game online can't continue to be human and say to themselves or the player ya know i think i will offer to assist this person finish or complete their quest. And those who can't continue to be human in an online game yall SUCK!

I help people with low-level heroics, heroics ive already completed on the planet.

But helping people with class-quests that are tuned to be 150% doable when on the appropriate level is like giving fish to a starving person instead of teaching him how to fish.

If they are behind at that point they will behind asking for help again the next day.

And yes, this is what i usually whisper to them in-game and 99% of them say thanks and join in for a heroic quest/ask where the quest-hub is.

Was fighting a Jedi on Hoth, randomly. Was a PVP server. Accidently pulled an NPC that was shooting me, since it was in a cave and I was trying to kite around as a Sniper. Had two groups of Empire players run past us fighting without anything. I was smoked shortly after.

It was magnificent, and I JUST MIGHT have "Lol'd" "IRL"

I myself ignore the general chat most of the time while questing myself. It's just a distraction for me. I wish ToR had chat bubbles like Star Wars Galaxies did, so if I ran past someone who needed help, I'd take notice and it would feel more personal as well.

If I am not questing, I am most likely crafting and don't pay attention to the chat then either.

This game is very non-social for me. Just like WoW was. I guess the lack of social aspects is the reason I'm not enjoying this game as much as I'd want to. But hey, that's just me.

I do throw buffs to people who I run past and don't have them, but that's it. Mostly, they don't give me their class specific buffs back, not even after I cast mine on them.

A lot of people are jerks.

I was kicked tonight from a flash point, then ignored after being launched with obscenities for no reason.

I was using CC on gold elites, know my rotation, have the correct, modded gear and have tons of previous MMO experience.

Welcome o the human race.

My advice would be to find a friendly, skilled guild and stick with them.
