Jagaimee Posted November 30 Posted November 30 Or, I'd very much like to return, if looking at this game for ~ten minutes didn't make me so dizzy with vertigo that I can't walk straight. I have a guess as to what's causing that - the sheer smoothness of how well everything runs. (Boy, how weird is it when the complaint is that the game runs too well.) It feels like character movement is floating weightlessly somehow, which probably contributes to that sensation of vertigo. I've turned off Bloom, minimized the camera rotation speed, and capped the FPS limit at 30 to see if that helps, though I'll have to test it out tomorrow. Does anyone have other ideas? Is there a way I can adjust the camera FOV? As a note, I do play other computer games and have never had this issue. My main game that I've played for several years now is Guild Wars 2, and I guess I've become used to the slower, more grounded animations of that game. For anyone else who's also played GW2, how did you adjust back to SWTOR's very different style?
phalczen Posted November 30 Posted November 30 You could reduce camera rotation speed (Preferences -- Controls). Or reduce your mouse acceleration/sensitivity in Windows. 1
Jagaimee Posted November 30 Author Posted November 30 I've already reduced the camera rotation speed to absolute minimum, but I hadn't thought about mouse sensitivity. Thanks, I'll try that!

It's hard, especially as I also play ESO, which has some of the same combat things, above all some idea of dodge-roll. (It's not the same as GW2's, but it's nonetheless there.) But I've played multiple MMORPGs(1) for enough years that adjusting to their different game mechanics and similar has become mostly automatic. (1) Guild Wars, Runes of Magic, Guild Wars 2, Tower of Druaga(2), Devilian, TERA, Dofus, Wakfu, WoW, FF14, The Secret World, Secret World Legends, ESO, ... (2) Yes, there was a Tower of Druaga MMORPG. It was a bit weird. 1

I tried out the adjusted settings in SWTOR today, though briefly, and it does seem to be helping a bit! Also made the windowed game screen smaller.

eldefail Posted December 5 Posted December 5 If it's too smooth and fluid would capping the refresh rate or framerate help?

I did cap the framerate at 30 FPS. Can't seem to do anything about capping the refresh rate - the option is grayed out. But as it is now...framerate at 30 FPS, minimized camera rotation speed, smaller game window...and my eyes are finally starting to adjust. 😅 It will just take a while, it seems. Thanks to everyone who offered advice and help!
