Bring back co-op questing for Main Story Quests.

My friend and I have been playing the game together and really enjoying the experience. We've loved sharing the cutscenes and the MSQ. We have accompanied each other as a spectator in the class quests.

However, when we got to a certain point in the story - it seemed like there were no more MSQ-style quests and every quest was treated as a 'class quest'. So rather than be able to play together, we found that each time we were going to take/hand-in a quest, we had to do it solo which really killed the enjoyment for us.

Given that this is an MMO, I'd really love to see a return to the 'early style' Main Story Quests so that my friends and I can play through together and share in the moments. I'm aware that there is a lot of 'other' co-op content, but I'm really interested in the RPG aspects of the game and playing through the story quests more than the dungeons/pvp etc.

Agreed, especially for all the flashpoints throughout the story.  As far as I know, you can be grouped up with someone else all the way through the recent stuff?  But you just have cutscenes separately (which imo is preferable to always appearing together, though if there was a toggle to have the option to appear in a cutscenes together vs not that would be perfect), and then you can't have anyone else with you in the story flashpoints.

I normally play the story solo, but I've had times where I or a friend wanted help on one of the flashpoints in the story, or we just wanted to play together (especially when trying to grind alts through the story), and the best we could do was run around together between cutscenes then ungroup at the flashpoints then regroup again after.

Please, devs, let us run together on the story flashpoints, it's crazy that we can't tbh.

the obvious problem here arises as soon as you and your friend want to make different choices within the story, at which point full co-operative play becomes an obstacle instead of a boon

and then the "workaround" for that is the method we have right now, playing those story missions on your own

some niches just aren't worth the developmental effort to cater to

Well, the game was initially designed around this very feature, and one you could turn off - if you didn't like the choices your friends made you could have it so from your end only your character answered dialogue and did light/dark actions.

Personally I never wanted that - part of the fun was that your teammates might make different choices to you and you got to see how your character reacted to them. My initial playthrough was 90% with a friend who largely made kind, compassionate choices as a Bounty Hunter while my Inquisitor... didn't. I still remember him being mildly appalled with how I treated Bouris Ulgo, while I quietly cackled over voice chat.

Of course this wasn't applied to class quests, since other characters had no part to play in those. And since the KOTFE/KOTET content was modelled on class quests, it was deemed inappropriate for characters to team up. Personally I think this is a downgrade, as I really like the multiplayer dialogue aspect that the game was originally sold on back in 2011, and wish more RPGs did that.

But anyway yeah, that ship has most definitely sailed, and remodelling the entire KOTFE/KOTET story to accommodate the possibility of multiple Outlanders at the same time... well, it won't happen.

A similar thing happened when a buddy of mine was playing BH with me. They weren’t exactly prepared for my hunter’s gotten complete the job as contracted approach with Yalt 🤣
