Black screen at start

I am able to log into the game, put in my name and password, but when I press play it goes to a black screen. The message "input not compatible" comes on the screen. I have updated everything. My specs are:

 

AMD Athlon II x2 260 Processor 3.2 ghz

GeForce 8400 GS 512 mbytes

4 gig of RAM

Did you use Windows to check if your driver is up to date or did you actually compare the dates? Windows is horrible at doing it automatically and these problems are normally solved by updating your graphics driver.

found this on another post and it worked

I got it fixed:

 

first open the file: client_defaults

located at: C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\BioWare\Star Wars - The Old Republic\swtor\retailclient

 

change the value of FullScreen to false, then run your game.

 

when you are ingame go to the gafical settings and set the refresh rate to 60.

 

save your changes then exit the game.

 

go back to the file you altered and change the FullScreen back to true
