Avanaco
Since I usually tank in MMOs (in fact my main is a vanguard tank), I'm thinking of rolling a Scoundrel. Can't beat having stealth, CC, and healing right? xD Anyway, a couple questions:1 - at what point does a scoundrel's healing get good enough to where I'll want to start LFGing as a healer? or is it viable right from the beginning? (I've heard complaints... that's why I'm wondering.) 2 - If I can level as a heal spec, what should I spec so that I can do damage as needed... for example, questing and stuff? I'm sure I'll have more questions later xD Thanks!

Make sure uou maintain Pugnacity at all times; It's all about finding that sweet spot. And if **** hits the fan, throw in Diagnostic Scan to boost your energy Regen. 2) I have been full-blown Sawbones since day 1, and have absolutely no trouble questing. I place Backblast, Pistol Whip, Vital Shot and Fragmentation Grenade at the forefront of my hotkey bar, and have my healing abilities easily accessible as well. Corso is a great tank as long as you keep his gear upgraded. There is no such thing as downtime with a Sawbones Scoundrel. RavenEnder
Absolutely. I find him somewhat underwhelming. I prefer corso's ranged capabilities; his grappling hook brings in the ranged enemies, which just feels smoother for me. That way, I can just swing around to their rear and blast em in the back. Pricia
I'm getting quite a bit of downtime to be honest, at 43... Unless you CC all you can, Corso often ends up down to 50% health by the time we're done with a pack, so I have to recuperate between pretty much each pull (if I heal instead, stuff gets killed very slowly... so I just dps and heal if he gets really slow and starts whining at me LOL). I'm armortech too so his gear is definitely up to his level. The bonus though is that I've been able to solo bosses without any problem, it just takes a while. But yes, I'm thinking that dps classes must have it much easier. The good point is that you can sneak past stuff so you don't have to kill everything. For grouping, I thought it was tough before 20, doable, but tough, if people were not careful I just didn't have the energy to keep up. Once you upgrade diagnostic scan it's much easier though. zelamonster
You are a viable healer from level 10 onwards if you understand how to manage your energy. That can be a tricky thing to learn, but you might as well get used to it early when everyone is expected to be learning, no? That said, you won't really get the real feel of the class until level 30 when you get EMP. I was able to solo all the solo content without much hassle, although past level 40 or so I had to CC most packs. Fortunately, you get a cooldown that lets you escape combat should you accidentally facepull.

You should be using Risha exclusively once you get her. Give her your hand-me-downs and you are a nearly unstoppable combo.

I'm sure I'll have more questions later xD Thanks! I have a sawbones 27 smug.......I've solo'd EVERY Hero2 thus far, maybe a death or two for some reason the "pets" seem to want to put aoe back on after I tell them over and over to turn it off....They just dont listen, similar to being in a group of 4 players I guess (LOL). I've duo'd the H4's so far, and the flash points. Typically just post looking for shadow tank to duo heroics usually will net a response in 10-15mins. It even gets easier once you get up into the 20's imo...Our DMG is still exceptional for a healer (even on boss's where I'm healing, just learn how to use focus target heals). Our charged bolt @ 27 hits harder then my consular shadow's abilities, let alone I can critical heal for 1400'ish (have 29% chance to critical!) and have 200+ hots ticking on my companion/self. Energy is never a problem anymore once you get in lvl with talents, and learning better mangement. Energy issues pretty much went away once I was in nar shardar. I would expect this class is in for an adjustment compared to how it does vs my other 2 mid 20's classes. I do find Corso a horrible tank, and perfer my wookie! But that is also because my other class took up artifice, and its easier to keep the wookie's gear up to part with my crafting Edited December 31, 2011 by Grometsc
IronFirewind
All healers in this game are viable from Lv10. Healing in this game is all about resource management and it's very brutal about it. That said anyone who has ever healed as a White Mage on FFXI will feel right at home with the challenge of healing on this game. In other words I LOVE healing on this game
Porall
Is this true for all spec's of Scoundrel? Personally I like bowdaar as a full spec sawbones. Risha either takes to much dmg or I end up tanking, which I dont want to do. It seems more natural and similar to flashpoints to use the same rotation healing a tank companion and cc.
