Vendettus Posted August 28, 2023 Posted August 28, 2023 There are a few hilts in game that are actually really nice, but the way the player character model holds it makes it look uncomfortable or unnatural. The Kallig lightsaber, a curved hilt, sweeps the handle inward toward the player instead of outward. The vengeance unsealed lightsaber follows what is more natural, but if a player wanted to use it and hold it the way Ahsoka does, with the hilts sweeping inward instead of outward, they are out of luck. Allowing for a system that lets players rotate the hilt along that central axis will give the players freedom to hold their lightsaber according to their own desires and aesthetics. This doesn't only apply to curved hilt lightsabers either. There are several models of lightsabers, such as the Flamegem, that would benefit from such a tweak to make them appear more ergonomic in the player's grip. You could tie this to a credit sink and get rid of the atrocious theft that is the private sales tax. 1
Vendettus Posted September 1, 2023 Author Posted September 1, 2023 Hey, loving the new Expatriate's Lightsaber and Shoto, they look great. The model, of course is holding them opposite of how Ahsoka holds the weapons upon which they are modeled. Allowing players to rotate lightsabers along their central axis will allow players to hold them how they want, or you can get ready for purists to demand new and additional sets. Just get ahead of it now, devs, and put a slider into the outfit slot that allows to rotate the hilt around. You could even tie this to credits since you still insist on robbing us in private sales and clearly need us to have less cash.
denavin Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 Biggest problem is that the player will always hold the weapon in the same orientation no matter which hand it is in, or when it is holsters at their side. My Sentinel uses 2 Volatile Conqueror's Lightsabers, it has a Hand Guard that when holstered ALWAYS points to the right. So the left saber hand guard is buried in the payers Hip. And when held the hand guard will always point to the right instead of one to the left and one to the right. They use the same drawing for Both sabers instead of flipping the "Offhand" weapon 180 deg. 1

Exactly, and being able to rotate weapons on our own would let us solve this problem, especially if we could do them at rest (on the side) and in the hand. 1
