Which gathering skill returns the most jawa junk?  Is it Slicing or Treasure Hunting?

I don't actively farm jawa junk, you get plenty from deconstructing endgame game.

If you do want to farm jawa junk then get slicing on a new alt (or reset slicing on an existing alt), and take them to Onderon.  You get nothing but jawa junk form the nodes until you get to 600 points in the skill.

There's only one thing you can do with Jawa tokens (only one kind is called "Jawa Junk"), and that is buying what's on offer at the vendors in the Cartel Bazaar area of the Fleet (available by a tortuous route as decorations for your strondhold).

As for the best purchases, well, that depends on which materials or companion gifts you need the most for crafting or raising the Influence of companions, or, failing that, which sell on the GTN for the highest price per Jawa token.

Slicing 700, companion mission grade11. "Off the Radar", companion at lvl 50 almost always gets critically 3 boxes + random grade 11 mission. Each box contains only Jawa Junk in green, blue and sometimes purple, +3-4k credits. Example photo. 

By the way, although SWTORISTA says on their website that Legendary Embers also have a chance of dropping when you deconstructing item-rating 300+ gear and grade 11 slicing lockboxes, I never got any Embers dropping from these boxes. Boxes cannot be deconstructed btw. Yesterday I opened 30 boxes one by another and was getting only jawa junk + credits.

The drop rate could be really low, or swtorista is mistaken.
I don't recall ever getting legendary embers from the lockbox missions, what you do get is wealthy missions for all  of the crew skills.
The wealthy missions usually drop 1 or more embers.  (they can drop zero, but that's rare).

As for the legendary embers from gear, I've only seen them drop from the level 75 gear (300 to 306 iRating), never from the level 80 gear.

Legendary embers drop from grade 11 unlocked missions obtained from the grade 11 slicing mission or, rarely, the other grade 11 missions will occasionally drop 1.

Grade 11 TREASURE HUNTING lock boxes provide level 80 gear which you can deconstruct into jj, conquest commendations, tech frage, op1, fp1, and wz1.

As far as base missions go and deconstructing treasure hunting boxes I have yet to see an ember.
