IMPERVIOUSCLAN
The thing is...in this game, nothing feels..."there" if that makes any sense. Back in wow (alredy turned off alot of people) if I saw a mountain, I would think "hey, theres a mountain, and if im close i can actually climb it"...in swotr i think "theres just a painting of a mountain". anyone else feel this? EDIT I AM NOT TALKING ABOUT STORY! Edited December 30, 2011 by IMPERVIOUSCLAN
Shakoba
Not really, I would rather shoot people and play my character than climb a mountain for no reason.

Climb a mountain? Not unless it had a pre-designed path. Otherwise you jump up, and slide right back down. Because it was meant to keep you in that area, or force you to a path to get to the area on the other side. Shadysketchy
I feel exactly the same way The linear World design really kills it, for me
Sagimore
Troll? This game has way more immersion than WoW ever gave. Think he means the atmosphere, and terrain. I get it, dont care much but I get it.
Deadxero
Couldn't disagree more. The story of TOR has me hooked. I gave up on even reading the quest text in WoW, I felt zero immersion in that game.

Now, I have to make decisions that can have a positive or negative effect on my story. Back in WoW, I didn't have to do anything with the community to get somewhere in the game. Now, I have to interact with the community to get things done. Therefore, if I am labeled as a troll, less people will be willing to help me. Lack of immersion is what WoW is today, not what SWTOR is right now.

I haven't felt this much immersion since Everquest in 1999. I'm not sure we are playing the same game. I love being in the game world and I love my class storyline. This game is amazingly immersive to me. I'm not even joking one bit. I was as surprised as you are to find out how much I actually loved this game. TheHirogen
This MMO has the most immersion ANY MMO has EVER had in HISTORY, FACT! Please forum moderators, dosomething about this, I came on these forums to read and talk about things in the game and all I get to see is retarded trollswith no life waisting it and others trying to ruin a game they do not seem to play in the first place. Alkiii
Nope, I'm so immersed in the story that I don't even notice the mountain. Cheers. Doing my class quest 2 nights ago, I actually said "holy <BLEEP> that was awesome" at the end. I haven't said that about an event/action in an MMO in more than 6 years. I haven't said that about an event/action in an MMO in more than 6 years. I had the exact same thing happen to me last night. The class quests are absolutely amazing. To the OP: This game does not lack immersion, you seem to lack imagination.
Pyrolight
Back in WoW, I looked like this: Now, I look like this: http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r4/Alkii/SWTORpic-Copy.jpg Shame every playable race looks like that except for the head. Bad example. Back in WoW, I would click a quest giver and use a mod to tell me where to go to complete the quest. Now, I have to make decisions that can have a positive or negative effect on my story. They do? Your story doesn't fundamentally change regardless of your decisions. You can still just follow a mod and there is very little difference. Back in WoW, I didn't have to do anything with the community to get somewhere in the game. Now, I have to interact with the community to get things done. Therefore, if I am labeled as a troll, less people will be willing to help me. Outside of the heroic quest/zone on each planet what more do you need help with in SWTOR? You still can pvp/instance/raid solo. Lack of immersion is what WoW is today, not what SWTOR is right now. IMPERVIOUSCLAN
im talking about the feel of the game. the map, exploration. everything in this game doesnt seem very expansive in terms of physical exploration. just feels like a really bland painting
VicSkimmr
Nah, IMO the mountains and terrain are meant to look pretty, they aren't actually meant to all be accessible. In that respect this game kills it. There is some scenery in Tython near the Forge that will make your jaw drop. I'm thinking most people are remembering their time in older MMO's with some heavily tinted rose colored glasses.
