Like a few others who have posted, the PTS client launches, there is a long wait, a mouse droid noise starts, and then the server list comes up, but it's empty. No way to get into the test server.

I'm (through no choice of my own) now using Norton 360 For-Breaking-Your-Game. Before I tried launching the new PTS I added all the new PTS Retail Client .exe files (just went through and added every file ending in .exe I could find, that wasn't already in Norton) to Norton's Firewall permissions. Still have to turn Norton to Silent whenever I want to play a game otherwise the game is a chugging unplayable horrorshow, however I had no issue with the PTS list availability.

That said I never tried to login to the PTS *before* adding it to my antivirus's Firewall permissions, so this may be irrelevent. But it also may be worth a go. ^^

And yes, it looks awesome, but the old graphic bugs are still there and they are horrible. Worse than on live, with npc's, bodies and companions floating inside walls and other environmental features, npc's not showing when you need them, or missing from cut scenes. Getting stuck in the environment is also rampant.

Hmm.  I didn't see any of that.  I was a bit disappointed with the small green trees on Voss, but I knew that trees weren't going to look right, so ...

That's a good point.  I use BitDefender, and I didn't have to do anything with it in order to play on the PTS.

I also have a network middlebox firewall (with stateful Deep Packet Inspection, no less) inside my network(1), and the only game that ever broke because of *it* was Final Fantasy 14, when one of the plugins (for a slightly obscure protocol used by certain factory-management systems) decided that the FF14 gameplay server traffic belonged to it but wasn't actually valid for its protocol, and therefore cut all the connections.  That was annoying but gave me the ability to complain to the guys that wrote the plugin that they had a bug (the target market of the firewalls is companies and governments) that broke a video game...

(1) It's a loaner from work because I work for the company that makes it.  Some very important parts of the code in there are my fault.

Hmm, I never thought of it being a anti virus problem, but.... should it not effect his/hers normal server select if it was??

See, I would have presumed so. But, I've been finding with Norton I've been adding everything lately to avoid it having a hissy fit and stuff just not being able to launch or update. I don't actually know if this *is* a factor, I was just being overly pessimistic. Norton did not recognise those PTS .exe files as having already been granted Firewall permissions though, so I thought it might be worth eliminating Firewall permissions as a potential factor.

I use the old launcher, rather than Steam.

I've tried once or twice a day for several days. Also uninstalled the PTS client and reinstalled. No change. Did send the full spec email to support.

same here, except the uninstall

I don't use Steam for SWTOR either. But as I mentioned earlier, I made sure to add the new .exe files in the PTS Retail Client folder to my Firewall permissions in my antivirus. I know sod all about IT. I muddle through by trial and error and because smarter, better educated people write up helpful things online that I can lift. Have a read through this, for example. I think it will help you narrow down the field of possibilites as to what's stopping your server list from populating. https://answers.ea.com/t5/General-Discussion-Technical/SWTOR-no-servers-when-I-start-game/td-p/6390380

unfortunately , I couldn't understand what to look for after reading that.

I mean it makes sense, I just need it dumb down to understand it, what to look for.. might have to wait till next year, when the staff  (there is a staff ?) gets back 😔

No worries. Let's make a start then and see how we do. Please provide as much detail as you can about the following:

(1) Which Antivirus are you using?

(2) Which Operating System are you using?

And now I am no longer able to get to PTS any more...

And in case you wonder... Nothing happens when you press OK, and cant select and get into the server...

I think Jar Jar BioWare are having a fun time pissing on the players. I dont think they are interested in feedback, seeing how they do all they can to drive off interested testers.

Edition    Windows 10 Pro

For me the simplest place to start is to check if you need to add (or re-add) permission for a couple of the SWTOR PTS files to access the internet through your Firewall. If you're only using Windows Firewall then the instructions in the first spoiler in this post may be helpful.  https://answers.ea.com/t5/General-Discussion-Technical/Guide-quot-How-to-install-Swtor-Correctly-and-address-Windows-10/td-p/4851036  Although this article refers to the normal game files, rather than the PTS files, the process is the same. I would make sure they all have Firewall permission.

Maybe have another crack. I just logged out of the PTS and relaunched the game to see if it would block me too. It didn't. Because there was no Server List step anymore. The PTS Launcher took me straight to Character Selection Screen.

Norton did not recognise those PTS .exe files as having already been granted Firewall permissions though

It shouldn't recognise them as being subject to the same permissions as the Live versions, obviously.  It has no reason to assume that they are from the same game, especially LAUNCHER.EXE (which could be anything's launcher, after all).

And it probably shouldn't automatically assume that a *changed* PTS SWTOR.EXE is as trustable as the previous version, especially when the change is "was 32-bit, now 64-bit"...

Yes! I didn't know any of what you just wrote about, but that Norton didn't tell me that the files *had* already been added, says to me something's changed sufficiently for Norton to require they be added/re-added. It's a very different PTS, so that the 64-Bit PTS .exe files may need to be added to some Firewall permissions doesn't seem unreasonable. Even to this mouthbreather. ^^

Although it may not matter anymore, as I don't think we're being prompted to choose a Server after launching the PTS now. Which should help a lot of people. (Well, I'm not being prompted anymore at least.)

I dont know if this only goes for the "original" planets, but when I take taxis, the environment falls apart, and branches of trees, floating cliffs, animal heads with out the rest of the animal, is what I see. Of course it is not all and every piece of environment, but it happens quit often.

Loading screens takes for ever. It took me almost 2 and a half minute to get from my ship to the warrior hangar on Balmorra.

There are widespread graphical bugs in this iteration.

Hey Jackie. Out of curiosity, if the game is moving to 64-bit, does that mean the credit cap will be increased from 2^32 (4.29 billion) to 2^64 (Nearly unlimited?) due to the 32 bit integer limit being gone?

I think it would be a tremendous help if so

has nothing to do with it!

4294967296 = 32-bit
4294817295 = SWTOR Maximal Credits

It do have not real then it's ISO/IEC 8859 / ASCII can be 9.999.999.999.999.999.999.999.999.999............endless, to maximal credits.
BioWare had done intentionally =
4294817295
By 32-bit has nothing to do.

4294817295 bits / 8 (1) = 536852162 bytes

ISO/IEC 8859 / ASCII need 8 bits.
For number 9 is codes = 1011 1001
1011 1001 = 8 bits = 1 bytes = 9

It's meant nothing, only importat for the RAM!

(1)  8 bits for 1 byte, 1 byte need 8 bits
