jimmybob
So my friend and I are advancing a couple of characters together. We're a fair bit along. We've done all the "Group +2" quests we've come across. I haven't died once. Period. Meanwhile, I'm solo questing a Knight. Thanks to crafting, I have armor and hilts mods WAY better than what I'm being offered as quest rewards. If an elite boss shows up with minions, I'm pretty much guaranteed to die once. Kill his helpers, die, come back to finish him. ----- So, am I missing something here? Quests are too easy for two people, sometimes impossible for one. Who are the quests designed around?? And before someone says "play better, hurpa durp," I think we can all agree the game isn't that difficult as far as mechanics go. You push the buttons, you kill things. End. Poor button mashing is not the culprit here.
Rahl_Windsong
Yesterday I solo'ed a Heroic 4 quest and all I had to do was kill one normal gold slicer. I was able to stealth to every location and collect the data I needed even though in some cases a boss was in the same room as the data. All I had to do was make sure I was the max distance you can be to open an object and he stood there like I was not even in the rooms...back to stealth, next target, rinse and repeat. In only one case there was a gold level 33 slicer standing at the console I needed to access.... The quest was on Alderaan and I can not for the life of me remember what it was called now but all it involved was collecting data... Kalaidus
You say, "Play better" isn't the right answer. I find when I solo play on my counselor it is exactly the answer. If I do it right, I can kill big mobs with tons of adds, but it usually requires the use of all of my abilities and cooldowns. If I bungle it and forget about using certain abilities I will always die in big groups or against big mobs. I attribute it all to a good system for training you in which abilities do what. Playing solo, and doing at level quests really helps me figure out skill priority and kill priority. But, when you talk about how easy everything is when you group up, like when my buddy and I started a trooper+smuggler team. Yeah, it's like a nonstop slaughter fest. I don't consider this a negative in any way shape or form. It's one of those things that lets you realize you are encouraged to group up with people and do things together. It increases your leveling speed, and ease of play, and prepares you for the dynamic of group play...which is often very different from solo play. So...TL:DR - Solo and group play are both great ways to learn to play in two dynamically different styles. And they're both awesome Happy hunting
