BobaFurz
This game is like GuildWars, AgeofConan, TabulaRasa, Kotor3 with mutliplayer, MassEffect.....certainly not a wow clone.
titanmike
Friday Update = Free to Play! To be honest, if you play at a average of 4 hours a day it might as well be free to play. 4 hours X 30 days is 120 hours. $15 divided by 120 is 0.125. $0.12 a day, not including internet fees. Assuming you paid $90 for the game and get two months at $15 each thats still only $120 for 360 hours of game time.
OldSkoolFan
I don't see this game as long-term, either Shocking. We had no idea. I'm glad you've finally decided not to keep your feelings to yourself.

Kalfear
I say this constructively in hopes that moving into the future this game will expand and thrive, I think you guys did a great job, the game looks amazing (although I would have preferred more realistic like Skyrim over the cartoonie feel) but there is in my opinion a huge flaw long term. This game is way to linear. And I stopped there Im so freaking bored of linear/theme park posts/QQs NEWS FLASH, linear sells Sorry you and your 3000 Sandboxers dont like linear, that doesnt make you the majority or even really a minority with any impact at all. Linear sells and this game is NOT Linear as you types like to make it out to be! Skyrim, SWG, UO, those sandbox enviroments DONT SELL in MMORPG market. So can this nonsense please stop because its NOT constructive in any form. I actually agree with your title of thread, Im starting to think the long term viability of this game could be in question but its got NOTHING to do with themepark design! - giving away max level is proven to hurt MMORPG long term viability (except for WOW who was the excepetion to the rule, not the rule) - Horrendous RP server communities that ENCOURAGE the trolls and flamers to roll there to insult, abuse, and troll the RP communities (game still young so players focusing on their characters but when that ends, if Bioware doesnt create a REAL ROLE PLAY enviroment for the RP Community, they will start to lose subs fast) - Endless PVP complaints It really does seem to me that Bioware is ignoring its sub play styles and thats going to cost them their sub play style players in the long run. And heres the thing, yeah they sub play styles and minorities but its been my findings over last 21 years that the majority PVE players FOLLOW those minorities where they go. Not the other way around. So if the RPers and PVPers all up and move on, a good chunk of the casual PVE base will as well. For no other reason then they figure the hardcores know whats good and whats not. Oh sure they wont admit it on the forums, but its been the trend for as long as this genre been going on. And its those 3 reasons mainly why I think the long term survivability now in question. Bioware got so much right, and these 3 issues so freaking easy to correct and fix to create mass appeal and comfort Just arrogence and ignorance to not correct them IMO! /shrugs, ill play my 7 months (6 month sub + 1 free month) and then decide from there. I went into this game wanting to play for years and years and years but its just to simple/easy and content greys out so freaking fast making easy mode content now god mode content. And that gets dull FAST! Add to that im playing 50% of my time now with general chat turned off as its so revolting, crude, childish, and unforgivable (on a RP server, I shudder to think whats being said on PVE and PVP servers). Amazes me we can not say ANY OF THAT STUFF here on the forums (which are free) but in a game we paying for we have no expectation of quality support and moderation. And back to the arrogence and ignorance to not correct them.

ThiborF
I don't think anyone knows where this game is headed. It's future depends on END GAME CONTENT, period. You don't speak for me or anyone else besides you. And while end-game content is important, it is not the be-all-end-all for everyone playing. Ambrogino
People have said the same about many games. Often such cries are translated into 'I am trying to find some way of justifying my own desire not to play'. I find this very sad - have the courage of your convictions to just say that. Then why are you here paying for it now and making thread after thread about how bad the game is? Surely you can wait a year? Surely if you truly believe that there is no value in sticking around? Same reason you're here spouting your drivel, he/she has a right to say what they want to and they paid for the game. You can ignore them too if you want... Sykologist
I don't see this game as long-term, either I firmly believe that it will be free to play, by the end of 2012 I love that last statement. Usually comes from people whose first MMO was WoW or have no idea how MMOs work.
Sazodeha
My God... I posted my opinion, I am a paying customer who frankly isn't the only one by far who feels this way, but then so goes the saying you cant please everyone all of the time. What disappoints me is the tone of some of these replies. Manners seems to be a lost trait. Is it not possible to have a decent conversation with ideas on how the game can be better without people sounding like spoiled children? I would much rather see a democratic brainstom rather than an immature sh**storm. As I said, I like what was done, I think its a great game, and here is my ideas on what would make it better for those of us who are not keen on doing the same thing over and over, aka linear, if you cannot discuss this like adults, please go back to playing. Izorii
I would agree with the OP unless something is done I see this falling into the F2P market. I hope it doesn't as i woulld like to pay for a AAA MMO rather than get a less game F2P.
Illuziun
People have been complaining about the linear gameplay of SWTOR since early beta. Nothing is going to change, not until an expansion and entire new zones at least.
Holden_Dissent
I love that last statement. Usually comes from people whose first MMO was WoW or have no idea how MMOs work. No kidding. Especially since people still pay to play quite a few MMOs that came out 4+ years ago. Games not 1/2 as fun as this one.
Sazodeha
and by the way, linear does sell. Mass Effect and Dragon Age where great games which I played multiple times. But it can only be played so many times before boredom sets in, this was my point. An MMO is a world of continual play, and linear can only take you so far. Sure there are expansions, but how often do they come out. I am not saying that linear is all together bad, as someone pointed out, they happen to like it and that is fine. But for those of us that can only do redundancy so many times, add a dynamic component.

Where does him saying it's going to go free to play = him not wanting to play until it does? Reading comprehension isn't what it used to be.
