sendnoodz Posted July 15, 2022 Posted July 15, 2022 (edited) For anyone who may not be familiar, the act of flagging someone is when you summon a flag (collectible item) on an enemy player that has recently been defeated. To me it kind of seems like the flag item's entire purpose is to promote and foster toxicity/unsportsmanship. I can't really think of any legitimate use-cases for the flag item, nor have I seen it used in any other way. I would suggest disabling the use of flags in ranked and unranked warzones to create a better experience for all players. Obviously this wouldn't eliminate all cases of toxicity but would be a step in the right direction. Edited July 15, 2022 by sendnoodz
BRKMSN Posted July 15, 2022 Posted July 15, 2022 If you believe that is the sole purpose of the "flag," then why should they disable it? Taunts have always been a part of PvP games. Even the PvE content is full of bosses taunting players during fights.

ZUHFB Posted July 15, 2022 Posted July 15, 2022 Isn't this the entire purpose of them? Yes, they are very nice if somebody just refuses to play or kinda just gives up and stands there. It's not that I hate them personally it's just that they actively hurt their team and I dislike it, these people get flagged and deserve to be. If it really upsets you just try to avoid them? Why would you fight them to begin with? Sure you can't get away all the time but if your ego is hurt by a premade running around 1v4ing you and then flagging you... maybe take a step back and realize that nobody cares.

It personally doesn't bother me that much. At a high level, it just seems counter-intuitive to have such an item in a game mode that the majority players actively avoid because of toxicity. Also if nobody cares about a bruised ego, then why do you think its nice for people who hurt their team to get flagged? Why would it matter? It sounds like you're the one who cares by wanting them to have one. Edited July 15, 2022 by sendnoodz

Personally, I don't agree with this take. Why does it have to be a bruised ego thing to want flags be removed from unranked warzones? Why can't it be to just help create a better experience for the unranked side as a whole? Ranked PVPers generally are on a higher tier of skill / experience, so I think having your flares and ranks should be more than enough for that specific game mode. Now ranked is a different story, I can't make much of an argument for that if it's only in certain instances where it's deserved (i.e a player throwing on their team because their partnered up with someone they dislike / hate).

Did you know they only added flags at season 7 I believe. Flairs were season 8. You would be surprised how many players you may not even notice have multiple golds from previous seasons with nothing to show aside from a title that many of them choose not to display.

You would be surprised how many players you may not even notice have multiple golds from previous seasons with nothing to show aside from a title that many of them choose not to display. So that constitutes needing to flag people in unranked warzones? It'd be one thing if they were done to players who at least somewhat on par with said ranked players, but more times than not it just isn't the case. More often than not, ranked players go out of their way to flag players they know are at least average at best. I have my gold flares and flag from season 11, but I only pop my flags when I'm doing ranked matches out of respect for the average pvper that prefer unranked wzs. This in turns just promotes an atmosphere of toxicity. The ranked community would get a bad rep in this instance, and thus no new players would feel like actually trying to get into that form of content, or even pvp in general, outside of just getting dailies and weeklies done. Idk, maybe it's just me, but I just feel the concept of flagging people should be kept to ranked arenas. Especially since that's where you go to earn them anyway.
