flunkorg
The number of ppl who enjoy this game compared to the number who dislike is like comparing a mountain to a molehill. I'll be glad when they're gone too, constructive criticism is one thing, the way the very small minority QQ's is not in the least bit helpful, they whine and complain and most of the time don't even list their actual complaints. They'll never leave. They'll just continue to sub (yet every month, say they'll quit) and continue to plague us with there doomsday theories for years to come. Its just the way the net works. Tyriene
lol - keep telling yourself that...Happy thoughts work great for Peter Pan too... No, Warhammer's launch was just as smooth as this launch was (actually, This launch was worse IMO with the terrible idea of EGA and the artificial caps on servers causing huge ques and then dead servers...not to mention the 30+ game in SWTOR is terribly buggy and broken ...Ive seen more bugs in SWTOR than Warhammer ever dared to have past 30...) So keep wishing there Tinkerbell.... huh? Were you at the Warhammer launch? I was, though it was a fairly smooth launch, it had nothing on this one. Servers going down daily from day one, lag you could cut with a knife. I loved Warhammer, and was very disappointed that it didn't go as planned, but TOR's launch has been much smoother than Warhammer's.
Yowfatto
Ouch - so MMO gameplay should be the same as single player!?!? I disagree strongly. No, he's stating that the questing is AS enjoyable as a single player rpg, as it should be. Being put into a coma state in PvE with every other MMORPG is not exactly enjoyable. TheHauntingBard
I find it funny how people state they have not found any bugs up to 40.I wish I was so fortunate since my bug list is pretty big with some game breaking ones.
Yowfatto
I could not agree more, any company can trick you into buying a game - Cough cough Aoc, Warhammer, Aion. It is after the free 30 days that really matters! We will see what the sub numbers do at that point. I played all of those except for Aion, they were terrible in content compared to this game, like comparing apples and oranges.
Rocsolid
1. Ability delay 2. Nodes appearing on map though they don't exist. ( they even tried to say they fixed it, lol) 3. Almost every flashpoint after Hammer Station 4. Load screen durations 5. Glaring issues with certain video cards. 6. Pet AI, and pet autocast options not sticking. 7. Other UI options not sticking (Sith corruption, etc) Do you need more? I can post more. BTW don't try and say it's user-specific or anything, plenty of people have reported these issues and almost no issue in any situation affects EVERYONE. Load times are the issue of the computer...... My load times only take like a minute Buy a non AMD VC, what do you not read reviews on VC's for gaming before you buy them? AMD is terrible. mogishu
No, he's stating that the questing is AS enjoyable as a single player rpg, as it should be. Being put into a coma state in PvE with every other MMORPG is not exactly enjoyable. Totally agree man, Bioware totally took the RPG part of MMORPG to heart. Its the first MMO I have played ever that really feels like a RPG and I have played many MMOs. On topic yeah looks like SWTOR has kinda made history for highest release subs, you cannot deny that. 1.5 mill beats anything else I know of upon initial release. Folks over at Bioware should definitely be celebrating and getting a nice bonus in their paycheck this year.
Cerrall
On the same note; it's pathetic someone would bury their head in the sand and accept sub-par quality goods, then post a qq about it hhee You are just looking to argue - did not even get the point. The point, I think, was "how sad is it to see people experience glee over the misfortunes and failures of others." Psychopathic . . . but then again, that seems to be the majority if MMO players these days . . .

Cerrall
lol - and here is the problem...your 17...Just wait...You can say this now but when you do finally hit 40+ and all these bugs are STILL in the game (as they have been in for MONTHS in beta) and your game suddently becomes a buggy pile of poo... I wonder what you'll be saying then... The forums should have a level restriction on them and only people 30+ can post because people under 20 really cannot speak on a subject they have absolutely no clue about... Its like claiming you know how to be a doctor cause you took Biology in college...Sorry, no, thats not how it works... Hmm - I wait for the day you go away. If you hate the game so much - leave. My post was a simple statement. From what I have seen, it has been extremely smooth. For you to say that my observations do not matter just because you are higher level than me (a little more than a single week after launch) - well, you, sir, are a true douche. Almost as bad as the religious people and "the end times" doom and gloom. The game may tank or it may not. I am having fun and thats all that matters to me. When I stop having fun I will try a new class. When I no longer have any fun at all I still have a pile of games from the steam sale that will take me well into 4-6 months to finish. Kalfear
1.5m subs, best in launch history Let me say up front I love TOR and have subd for 6 months having said that, do you have EA stock? Bioware stock? Why does TOR having 1.5 million subs matter so much to you? *must be a WOW player thing cause I still to this day put quality over quantity and NEVER confuse the 2* The TOR launch was horrendously bad, terrible. And no amount of subscriptions will change that FACT of history now. As for the sub numbers, I personally dont care once it hit the million mark as thats really the mark that should ensure 100% commitment to game. But based on Bioware/EA refusal to spend a few thousand dollars a month to monitor RP server names, maybe this game will never get the man power attention to run correctly it requires? Many it is veiwed as a cash cow and only a cash cow by them? Sure seems that way early on. Great game, terrible launch, terrible support in place Real story will come between the 3 and 6 month dates when everyone has multiple 50s (as max level mindlessly given away yet again and meaningless) and players are bored haveing passed over all the content that should have been in place to slow them down andforce them to enjoy the trip. But hey OP, if you do have shares, that would explain your joy and glee! I kinda doubt it tho.
coder
High initial numbers were a certainty because of the Star Wars factor. As was said before, the real test will be after the first month or two.
bartmoss
I disagree. I thought about it and since we got so many people with the game it would be relatively easy to re-gain people. Once things change for the better people will realize and sub back. You clearly haven't followed the MMO market very well in the past seven or so years. A botched launch is almost unrecoverable. Yes they have 1-1.5m subs now, but retention after Jan 20th is what matters. If that takes a nosedive, the game is finished. I doubt that will happen, though. The game is "good enough" that it should please a lot of people, and many star wars fans are fanatically loyal to their franchise.
TheHauntingBard
Ah what the heck bug list INC!.I am not going to touch features that have not been implanted or the delay I consider a minor bug as something like a note not showing up or a little glitch. Not all of these bugs are game breaking but here it goes. 1: The game kicks you out during looting/solo instances, when this happens you can't log in for 30 minutes. When you have queue there is a chance that after 30 min the game kicks you out on the character screen.Took me 2 hours to get in 2: When you press esc during a conversation on you can get a black screen. 3: I can't target or click people in a warfront, the mouse locks up.I can fix it by CTRL U 4: Raid frames in warfronts not working , I can't fix this 5: Game kicks me to log in screen when I join a warfront happened a few times 6: Game disconnects me in queue 7: Game randomly crashes, I can log in but it happens 8: Boss abilities bug 9 Boss doesn't drop loot 10: Characters fall through the floor 11: Stuck (unstuck works ) 12: Sith corruption keeps returning even when put off 13: Hutball a person get's knocked down and suddenly appears on a random location (this isn't lag) 14: Can't loot mobs (famous loot bug) 15: Stuck in combat 16: Quest dialog gets cut off for no reason 17: Raid frame doesn't display health loss properly 18: Twi'lek tentacle keeps shaking in character creation screen. 19: Minor glitch that let's you see a light beam , 20: I can look under the floor in some area's, empty space 21: Camera gets stuck while it happens 22: Memory leaks 23: Occasionally quest NPC glitches a bit. 24: Some quest NPC's bug in chain quests, when you click on them the screen blinks like it want to go to dialog screen and goes back.No indication given that the quest is done. 25: Notes are still bugged 26: People claim to get stuck in loading screen (can't say never had it) 27: High res texture option not working while you can activate it, shadow option seems not to work correctly either. 28:Clicking on objects shows that you are doing it but it simply bugs out once you are done (happens some times) 29: Pet getting stuck 30: Pet not following you , just stands some where (rare bug) 31: General chat stops working 32: officer chat stops working 33: guild does not display people. 34: Raid chat stops workingI think these are some bugs me and my GF experienced. Both running the game on different rigs which have no hardware problems and have been recently formatted. SnoggyMack
This game is pretty sweet. I can see why it has so many subs at launch. It blows many of the other MMORPG options out of the water. And it completely destroys the other space-based MMORPGs ... Star Trek Online and Tabula Rasa.

But man that game can go from ulta tedious to massive fun and back in the same game play session. I love EvE, I really do but I never seem to play for more than 3-4 months at a time. Triggerometry
Really, the numbers while fantastic are irrelevant in the long term. Subscriber retention will be the key. That's really it. I'll be shocked if SWTOR doesn't lose half it's subscribers byFeb, half again in March and half again in April. It's a fun game for what it is, but what it isn't is a long game. I think most people will at least try GW2 esp since it won't have a subscription fee. The question will be whether SWTOR can pull people back from GW2. SnoggyMack
Not to mention SWTOR is not a space-based game anyway. It has a space combat mini-game, its a ground game. This game is definitely a space based MMO. It's got "Star" right in the title. I have a ship. I go from planet to planet. I use laser guns. Not a single elf or magical spell or suit of chain mail armor in sight. And it's definitely not a super hero MMORPG, as there's no spandex and no leaping of tall buildings in a single bound.
