Dirtydurst
I'm currently planning to run:http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#601MZhRrRkhrbtzZf0c.1 My question to you is: from a survivability standpoint, has anyone taken 2 pts and put them into "Shadow Veil" and noticed any kind of a difference? Typeslice
I put the 2 points in it early on with PVP in mind. Unfortunately, I haven't gone without, so I can't really compare. Sorry for the useless post, haha.
tofu-
while I can't cite my sources (posting from mobile device) there are numerous discussions on other, more accurate theorycrafting sites such as sithwarrior.com which mathematically show that putting points into this is a waste. I, too, thought veil would be a good idea, with only one point in the shadow strike proc, but it turns out, the 30% armor doesn't do squat for us
Neodeity
I haven't read up on it but I would think that 30% of almost nothing, is even less of almost nothing. Furthermore, what't the point of speccing the Inf route if you are going to waste points in survivability? Might as well go balanced if you want that. Just my opinion though. Atiris
As a Jedi Shadow, you have a lot of utility to divert damage and survive. Deflection being one if you chose to stay in battle, otherwise you have several weapons to escape combat. Base off of what I see from your spec, you're going for a Project burst build, with speccing into Clairvoyant Strike and Upheaval. Now forgive me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't it be wiser to spec in Force Focus? Base off of my PvP experience and the burst rotation I use, Project and Force Breach go hand in hand. You wait for the proc from Clairvoyant Strike, hit them with project and then hit Force Breach which hits them simultaneously for a ton of damage. So it would be wise to make sure that the damage they suffer from this combination is more, right? Espacially with the extra 50% damage you got from Upheaval. As for my personal experience, I wouldn't sacrifice the stealth talents. Sometimes stealth is our biggest allie, be it to elude our enemies or execute a flawless ambush with spinning kick. I do plenty of damage as is and my spec is http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#601McZhGbRkhrbtzZcM.
GordonJ
You have to be in Force Technique for Force Focus to get the 16% increase to Force Breach. That's why everyone (infiltration) skips it, or goes with Jedi Resistance. The 3% damage reduction probably doesn't make any difference to your survivability and it seems the only reason to take it is to fill out the 5 points so you can get to Upheaval. Those 2 points would be better spent on Security Breach. Edited January 1, 2012 by GordonJ
