TabiLorang
Is it possible to obtain purple recipes by reverse engineering green items? I do know the usual approach is r.e. greens -> obtain blue; r.e. blues -> obtain purp. However, maybe someone r.e.'d a ton of green trash and way after his blue recipe he got his purple? Any experience?
garflin
My understanding of the progression is premium (green) >> prototype (blue) >> advanced (purple) >> [prototype] advanced (purple). I've not actually tried to RE an advanced item to see if I learn the tier2 version. You don't skip tiers.
Korialstrazs
This isn't possible, because purple item recipes are created directly from the stats of a blue item. In the case of armor, there are 3 different blue recipes, and 5 different purple recipes from each blue.
TabiLorang
good point korial, i was just thinking about items like crystals or med/stim packs. they come in one blue, one purple variation. however the game mecanics surely are shared and thus do imply that you cannot skip. thanks! @garflin, is the assumption of a 2nd purple tier supported by fact? otherwise e.x.: http://www.torhead.com/search/compact%20medpac.
