Dev Post JackieKo Posted February 25, 2022 Dev Post Share Posted February 25, 2022 Hello everyone, We’ve spent the week gathering your feedback, reading posts, and messages on various platforms. The team has been working on fixing bugs that are being reported as well as making adjustments to improve players’ experiences. As I’ve alluded to in a previous post from earlier today, we are finalizing details on when the next patch will be. This will include the UI contrast adjustment and other fixes. When we have that info, we will be communicating that to the wider playerbase including details of everything that will be deployed within that patch. More communication will be coming. Lastly, I understand that there are many topics to debate on the forums, but I am asking you all to please be civil with each other and toward members of the team. Attacking, harassing, and wishing harm against each other and against staff is not permitted. I and the moderation team try to find balance with allowing players to voice their concerns freely and enforcing the guidelines. We ask you to be respectful. Please contribute to the forums in a meaningful manner that promotes healthy conversation. Thank you, Jackie
bncsmom
I hope the patch will include a fix for the horrendous change to the Inventory and Cargo Holds/Guild Bank that has made it impossible for some of us - myself included - to play this game! It Physically Hurts Us! You have been silent about it, too, which is the source of our frustration and anger. Why be silent about something you guys implemented that is HURTING your players??? I don't get it. It's extremely hurtful to us that we're loyal to you and then you treat us this way!

Mephesh
A better communication would be good. Even if it's just a "bug has been noted" 1-liner. Edited February 25, 2022 by Mephesh
hillerbees
Thank you for acknowledging our concerns. It would be nice to get a dev livestream to address the main issues. I hope the SWTOR team are not adverse to taking some backward steps to help bring the game forward. Please don't go silent it is so frustrating. We do respect the teams efforts and if need be, we will respect if people hold up their hands and say we made a mistake of judgement with this release and we are open to changes from the initial plans. DakhathKilrathi
I hope fixing tertiary stats is included in "improving player experiences". Tertiary stats shouldn't scale, and that includes presence. They never did prior to this patch, why change it now? Edit: And to be clear, the communication is appreciated, and it's not fair that you're stuck with this job. I know it's not your fault that this response took so long to post, but it did take far too long to get even this. And like I said, I know that's not your fault. That's been the playbook for forever, and since long before you were part of the team. It's still too long. DanielBrinkmann
Let's be honest here - A "We heard you, we're working on it" is not enough to fix the mess that 7.0 is. More and more bugs are occuring every single day and there isn't even a temporary workaround for a lot of them. Some decisions that are made by CHOICE are literally making the entire playerbase speak up in unity, like the UI changes or the decision to make it impossible for us to use our skins that we PAID actual money for. Those things have not been addressed a single time since 7.0 launched. Not by the community team and not by the devs either. I have played MMOs for 18 years now. I've played WoW, Guild Wars, FFXIV, SWTOR, TESO, LotRO, New World.. And not once in all those 18 years have I seen the playerbase so united in speaking up against actual "design" choices and the devs not giving a flying f*ck about it. If this game wouldn't wear the "Star Wars" cloak, but was instead a no-name IP that noone cares about.. it would be dead after 7.0. The fact that it is not dead shows how deeply the fans care about the game and what happens to it. And 7.0 and the lack of communication following it is basically the devs spitting in the faces of the fans showing their love and support, despite the obvious game flaws. Please, change your support and communication policy. For once, take a page out of Blizzard's playbook, re-vamp the entire communication structure between Devs and players and TALK to us. Giving us the silent treatment after releasing such a mess hurts, both you and us. I really hope that anyone reads this and cares, and that the future will be better. Ambrodel
We ask you to be respectful. It would be a lot easier to remain respectful if the company treated us the same way they ask us to treat them. Many players said "don't go live with this, change that, don't make those changes" and so on, and yet, here we are. Why is this a one-way street? khamseen_air
7.0 is a train wreck but right this second all I want, for the love of all that is holy, restore all Flashpoints to the GF all the time. This weekly cycle is an awful design choice and negatively impacts the will to play when you can only do a handful of FPs for a whole week via GF. Especially as a low level character, my only option on my newest character (almost level 30) is Esseles and NOBODY wants to run that FP on repeat all week... Thank you, Jackie I would never be so arrogant to speak for the entire community, but my personal source of frustration is the complete silence for days or weeks of silence when there are serious problems. I personally do not have a problem with the new graphics but when I see dozens of posts seeing other people explaining that it hurts them on the PTS forums and then have to bring it up after the game update goes live is unacceptable! I mean no disrespect to you or the Team but, there are serious problems and bugs and days go by without a word? It isn't right. "Thanks, and we hear you," is not good enough. We're dealing with a ton of broken promises, things that don't work properly, and silence.

KickersGT
Adding my appreciation for this welcome update. I'm happy to read that the devs intend to alter the over-bright color contrast in the UI. That should go a long way towards enabling me to enjoy the updated version. Having played through other expansions, the ability nerf was what I was dreading the most. I'm very pleased to discover it hasn't affected my game play much at all . Although there is still MUCH I have to learn about the new game mechanics, my confidence that this update will eventually prove to be welcome is gaining strength. Some things I particularly like include: - The second combat style. I've only used it once on a single character so far, but being able to switch my healer to a true dps character with the click of a button is AWESOME!!! It makes leveling and earning conquest so . . . much . . . easier :). Can't thank the devs enough for that. - The new tagging feature for completing kills. While it doesn't 100% solve the chaos of too many players in the same area, it goes a long way towards making it bearable. - IMHO, the new objectives for Galactic Seasons 2 vs Season 1 are much more doable and enjoyable. There's still plenty that has me scratching my head in 7.0, but I can honestly say I'm becoming more and more hopeful that this year will be an enjoyable time to play SWTOR. Thank you! DarthCasus
I'm sorry you wound up being the intermediary between understandably angry players and some of the most stubborn yet least competent developers this side of the Milky Way. If tweaks to foundationally flawed design and too few fixes are all there is to come, it'll only be salt and lemon juice on the wound. Somethings should just outright be reverted. I'm only saying it loud and clear because concerns weren't assuaged or considered on the PTS. I want to give the benefit of the doubt 10x over but it feels like we keep getting flipped off on a 10th anniversary we WANTED to celebrate. Again, I think you've done an awesome job so far and you most likely need the green light to answer when you have answers for us for organizational reasons, so no slight toward you, the 'CommunityTeam' (including Mr.Steed) or even the people doing art/sound/story. But I am talking about the 'few' who are responsible for this mess on multiple levels to the game's systems and experience.
Drenovade
Nice to know they're listening at least. 7.0 was not ready to be launched when it did, but I'll try to remain optimistic that positive changes are coming our way. This is a critical time period for SWTOR. I feel that a great portion of the playerbase is hanging on by a thread. Whether we're still here in 3+ months will largely depend on how the issues we've brought up are to be addressed.
IIHawkerII
Instead of trying to salvage the new UI - Can we just return to the old UI design and retrofit whatever entirely new windows that were added into the old design? ie - Adjust the current character window to better fit the UI design pre-7.0? Scattergun
Thank you. It would be very helpful if we could get confirmation that whoever made the decision to put this out has been informed of how badly received most things in 7.0 have been by many of us, especially after it feels like pts feedback was ignored. Cleev
Sincere thank you for nerfing companions and increasing the difficulty in other ways. You actually have to use your brain sometimes and have to learn to not just spam basic attacks with a heal comp keeping you at 100%. Combat is much more enjoyable now. Don't revert it back because of whiners. People usually come here to hate, not love.

Blurch
I agreed with most everyone here kind of hard to not get angered at Bioware/EA for the silent treatment. When we tell them from the beginning its broken on PTS, then it still gets pushed to live server in the broken state, then we get it’s a known issue and we are currently working on it. All we have been getting for the past week and half is it’s in the next patch or it’s a know issue, or better yet nothing at all. With no eta on next patch will be or anything. Up to this point you were allowing people to solo to get gear. I’ve been at it for a week and a half and I finally got enough coms to get a relic a rank above 320 what ever that is. I only have 2 characters to level 80 so far do to lack of time I’m a casual player so trying to find a group do thing when I can, and when I do it’s usually ok that one what- ever it is I’m done I have to go. So I’m not happy on how you get the gear now, it’s a bigger pain in the butt now like it was at the beginning when the game fist started and the best gear I had was blue quality and was never allowed into ops of anything with that. I was constantly kicked out because I didn’t have the gear. I can see that circle starting again no thank you. Considering I’ve and several other people here have spent well over 2k on this game since launch between initial perchance, expansions and cartel coins since. You have been ignoring us, blown us off, and what seems like changed the rules on us in mid games so yes were are rather on the upset side.
