Questions about the in game mail system.

So I'm wondering about the in game mail system, are we going to see mail getting deleted if left too long in the mailbox or can we keep mail forever?

 

 

Yes, I also have a few questions:

 

1. Who exactly can we send mail to? Our other characters? Only on the same Server? How do you specify in the "to" field?
   
2. When you cancel the sale of an item at auction, you receive it again as mail. Do we have unlimited item storage that way?
   
3. Will the items that we got mailed to us because of preorder CE automatically be mailed to every new character we make forever (ie we'll still receive them when making a new char years from now)?

1. You can send mail to characters on your server who are of the same faction as you (Republic or Empire), whether they are your characters or not. Since names are unique per server, just specifying the character's name is sufficient for the mail system. I don't know if it's possible to send the same mail to multiple characters, though. I never tried that.

 

2. If you're going to use the mail system for storage, it might be better/simpler to create an alt that you can mail stuff to. Mail from the GTN can only contain 1 item/stack of items, while a normal mail message can have up to 8 items, which helps consolidate things. Also, each mail only costs 10 credits to send, while cancelling an auction costs the deposit amount (I think).

 

3. Every character that you create will be mailed your pre-order items and CE items and any other special items that your account is entitled to. They will be sent when the new character is created and that is it. If you accidentally delete the mail message (or the items after you have received them) there is no way to get them resent to your character.
