Feast of Prosperity you say? (Or as I like to call it the Hutt Dinner Event). Lol I just deleted all the half done quests in my various alt logs for this! No biggie - I love doing the world bosses for this event. And double Renown before? I have time to finish the 100 on each character that I wasn't going to bother doing.

 

Thanks for the update Jackie, you answered most of our questions (especially the one about GS). Looking forward to the PTS, however I do have one question unanswered: will the new hairstyles we saw on the PTS be available to buy before 7.0?

Here is the FAQ regarding the announcement made earlier today. Please note that I will be updating this post accordingly over time, so treat this as a living document. I will update this thread to indicate when this post is edited, so you know when updates are made.

 

Why make this change so close to the original launch date?

 

As a team, we take our date commitments very seriously, and everyone who works on SWTOR has been working extremely hard to deliver as we’d originally planned. This being our anniversary, we really wanted to share the awesome updates in LotS with all of you to celebrate, so we kept moving forward toward that goal as long as possible; but in the end the most important thing is quality, not the calendar.

 

Why delay for two months?

 

There isn’t any significant bug or single issue that brought this decision about. Ultimately, we want to give the team more time to add polish and to find and fix bugs to ensure we release 7.0 at maximum quality. We also want to do more to include all of you in that process – we’re very excited to have this chance to share more on the PTS, so that we can get your feedback and show you some of the changes that have already been implemented based on your past feedback.

 

As mentioned, the team has been working really hard to create Legacy of the Sith, and they deserve a chance to rest and recharge. Our chosen timeframe will allow the team to take a meaningful holiday break, and still have significant polish time before release.

 

How does this affect Conquest?

 

Total Galactic War will be included in the rotation and will run:

• December 21, 2021
  
• January 4, 2022
  
• January 18, 2022.
  
• Note: The biggest relevant change is Personal Conquest requiring 100k points instead of 50k. Keep that in mind for the Conquest starting February 8th.
  

 

What’s happening with Ranked PvP Season 14?

 

As season 14 rewards are tied to 7.0, the current season will continue as-is, ending with the release of 7.0 on February 15, and rewards will be distributed normally when 7.0 launches in February.

 

Are the R-4 Anomaly Operation and the daily area for Manaan still launching after Legacy of the Sith?

 

Yes. We will want to give players time to be able to gear accordingly so these will be launching post Legacy of the Sith as originally intended. These are intended to be available for testing in a 7.1 PTS cycle. Exact date TBD.

 

What’s happening with events and their rewards? Any chance for double XP or something extra?

 

All of the planned new rewards will not be released as they are tied into 7.0. With that in mind here is the plan for each event:

• Life Day will run from December 14, 2021 to January 11, 2022 with current rewards.
  
• The 10-Year Anniversary event will be running for a full year! From December 14, 2021 to January, 2023.
  
• All existing anniversary rewards will be available on the vendor.
  
• The new planned rewards will be added to the vendor in February with 7.0, including the contest winning decos!
  
• We will inform players when new rewards will be added.

We will be updating our Public Test Server forum with updates as they happen. PTS will remain open until approximately mid-January as needed.

 

What does this mean for Galactic Seasons 2?

As Galactic Season 2 is tied to 7.0, it will not be available until Legacy of the Sith launches. However, it will be available on the PTS in the coming weeks.

none of this will change, you're just putting off the inevitable

 

A two month delay (regardless of how you think they are going to spend their time) is pretty indicative of rather major changes or a rather serious flaw that was uncovered (particularly since they are planning to put a new build up on the PTS). Based on the amount of negative feedback on the PTS forum, I'd lean toward the former. My bet is a change to gearing that opens up modding to all playstyles while keeping the highest iRating gear in the new operation. Probably also a modification to Level Sync or abilities to better balance the ranged and melee styles.

 

My suggestions on what to take a second look at with the extra time:

 

1) Pace of ability gains from levels 1-30

2) Modable gear for all playstyles

3) Tweaking of the caps for Alacrity and Critical (which in my opinion are too low for proper functioning of "flash" classes like the Sentinel/Marauder)

I am actually not happy with that... cmon, why not starting 14th or 21st running all the way till Feb..

I for one subbed 3 days ago anticipating the launch on December 14, now I have un-subbed and will wait till February to come back. Whats your stance on giving refunds? I tried calling Customer support but it just answered and hung up on me. I would like my money back, or to pro-rate it till right before launch in February.

The lead up to 7.0 has been very difficult for me. As a longtime almost exclusive player and wannabe completionist, to see so many changes to the core principles of the game get streamlined, and then to have what little player agency coming to the game pulled back at the eleventh hour with Primary Combat Style getting dropped, was incredibly disheartening. I reached a quit moment last week with Chris' update on Combat Styles, coming to the conclusion that I may no longer be the target player for the development team.

 

I'm hopeful that your announcement today means that I am wrong, and that there is some consideration for long time players like myself who aren't raid loggers or chronic altoholics. I hope there is some consideration that the game loop of daily job board and extrinsic rewards doesn't build lasting value. I hope there is consideration that even in a Theme Park MMO there is room for player agency and emergent gameplay that can be part of the game loop instead of outside of it.

 

10th Anniversary expansions are built on Hope. I hope.

Unacceptable. The break between season 1 and 2 was way to long already. There should be no break at all between seasons. Galactic seasons subscriber perks was one of very few things that was making me feel like the sub was worth something. Without it i see no value in the sub i pay. This is a deal breaker for me.

Sorry Jackie but this doesn't really answer why! This is just more BS in my opinion. You guys knew as a DEV team at the announcement release date that it wouldn't be ready. Then one week before launch delay it for 2 months??? It was a shady and scummy ploy to boost subscriptions in the month of December plain and simple. And the team needs a rest? Come on it has been over a DAMN year since we have seen any real content form you guys. I stick by that it was a shady and scummy ploy to boost the subscriptions for this month. We know it has nothing to do with the actual feed back you did get on the PTS. We told you from start that you BUTCHERED the Guardian/Juggernaut and Sentinel/Marauder on test and nothing was changed other than to hurt those classes more. The players aren't pleased and the stuff that you are giving to us isn't worth it. Might want to up the game on compensation to the players cause this just don't cut it

Their time is spent on vacation for over a month from mid-December till mid to late Febuary. You are under the illusion these two months will be spent working on the game.. this is not the case. They will only spend a few weeks in February... two or 3 at max tweaking this.. Most of these two months they wont be doing a damn thing about the game, and not even in the offices.

 

I am so glad that the people working on the game will be relaxed, recharged, and ready to dig in and work on the thing they love when they come back after the holidays. <-- This is not sarcasm!

Unbelievable. Not even a collections sale in the forseeable future for this absolute mess? Extremely, extremely disappointing service. I don't care about double xp.. Who but the very newest players doesn't already have like 40 levelled characters by now, not to mention how utterly pointless it is to level up anyways.. Terrible attempt at a consolation prize imo.
