This is now the first time that I salute you for a decision you made. Delaying 7.0 for 2 months is your best decision so far.

 

I am happy, even THRILLED, that I get to play the game I love for two more months - before you break it for my playing style. I dread 7.0. Seriously.

Really sad, but it was to be expected after all the outcry on the forums I guess. Gonna hate to wait another 2 months for the vendor that sells all the old armors.

 

Can anyone explain this? Where's this vendor and what does he sell? Is all old armor from operations going to be available for cosmetics or something?

In some small ways, I too am kinda happy to keep going with my current gear, but only cos I literally just returned to the game a few weeks ago and only just got my first full 306 gear like 2 days ago lol. I was always thinking "This was a lot of effort for not much", but hey, I guess I've got time now... On the bright side. Well.. The less dull side anyways

Here is the FAQ regarding the announcement made earlier today. Please note that I will be updating this post accordingly over time, so treat this as a living document. I will update this thread to indicate when this post is edited, so you know when updates are made.

 

Why make this change so close to the original launch date?

 

As a team, we take our date commitments very seriously, and everyone who works on SWTOR has been working extremely hard to deliver as we’d originally planned. This being our anniversary, we really wanted to share the awesome updates in LotS with all of you to celebrate, so we kept moving forward toward that goal as long as possible; but in the end the most important thing is quality, not the calendar.

 

Why delay for two months?

 

There isn’t any significant bug or single issue that brought this decision about. Ultimately, we want to give the team more time to add polish and to find and fix bugs to ensure we release 7.0 at maximum quality. We also want to do more to include all of you in that process – we’re very excited to have this chance to share more on the PTS, so that we can get your feedback and show you some of the changes that have already been implemented based on your past feedback.

 

As mentioned, the team has been working really hard to create Legacy of the Sith, and they deserve a chance to rest and recharge. Our chosen timeframe will allow the team to take a meaningful holiday break, and still have significant polish time before release.

 

How does this affect Conquest?

 

Total Galactic War will be included in the rotation and will run:

• December 21, 2021
  
• January 4, 2022
  
• January 18, 2022.
  
• Note: The biggest relevant change is Personal Conquest requiring 100k points instead of 50k. Keep that in mind for the Conquest starting February 8th.
  

 

What’s happening with Ranked PvP Season 14?

 

As season 14 rewards are tied to 7.0, the current season will continue as-is, ending with the release of 7.0 on February 15, and rewards will be distributed normally when 7.0 launches in February.

 

Are the R-4 Anomaly Operation and the daily area for Manaan still launching after Legacy of the Sith?

 

Yes. We will want to give players time to be able to gear accordingly so these will be launching post Legacy of the Sith as originally intended. These are intended to be available for testing in a 7.1 PTS cycle. Exact date TBD.

 

What’s happening with events and their rewards? Any chance for double XP or something extra?

 

All of the planned new rewards will not be released as they are tied into 7.0. With that in mind here is the plan for each event:

• Life Day will run from December 14, 2021 to January 11, 2022 with current rewards.
  
• The 10-Year Anniversary event will be running for a full year! From December 14, 2021 to January, 2023.
  
• All existing anniversary rewards will be available on the vendor.
  
• The new planned rewards will be added to the vendor in February with 7.0, including the contest winning decos!
  
• We will inform players when new rewards will be added.
  

Additional events?!

 

• Our Double XP event (which also includes Renown, Requisition, and Valor) will return from December 20, 2021 - January 4, 2022.
  
• All 3 weeks of Feast of Prosperity will return at the following cadence:
  
• Week 1: January 11, 2022 – January 18, 2022
  
• Week 2: January 18, 2022 - January 25, 2022

What’s happening with PTS?

 

We’re opening PTS back up this week! 7.0’s features will be present to test during this PTS cycle, with the exception of any that would spoil the story content, of course. This upcoming phase will include Loadouts and Character Creation and also all recent updates we have made since the close of the previous phase.

 

What’s the PTS schedule?

 

We will be updating our Public Test Server forum with updates as they happen. PTS will remain open until approximately mid-January as needed.

 

What does this mean for Galactic Seasons 2?

As Galactic Season 2 is tied to 7.0, it will not be available until Legacy of the Sith launches. However, it will be available on the PTS in the coming weeks.

 

 

Will there be any adjustments to conquest gear?

Nothing even on the schedule for the forseeable future. Insane. A collection sale here is a no-brainer to me. Especially when they skated past Black Friday being stingy and got away with it. Now they think they can skip Christmas too!? I will have my presents!!

i think all the players from the have have respect for you and for the team for working on the expension thats something nobody will disagree with.

but the problem is more that the new expensions we get is only once every one year when that is all really bad for a MMORPG game since its basic more that its more each 6 month's you need to release new content more new expensions.

and to delay the one and only expension we each year get is then really bad more.

 

and here is my question about it:

is this type delay we see for the 7.0 expension not become something new that we going to see more happing in the near future from the game when there is a release for the new expensions.

Oh thank Gosh!! I didn't see how you could have gotten this off the ground by next week. I'm looking forward to testing a more complete version on the PTS in the near future. Selfishly, I'm happy to have more time to finish collecting sets before they go away.

 

I would recommend extending the double rewards event to cover the whole two months, instead of just the two weeks of holiday break most of us get. An unlock sale would also be appreciated since we didn't get one for Black Friday or Cyber Monday.

 

Yeah, I have absolutely no idea what that is supposed to mean either, nor do I understand what "rewards" they are talking about that are delayed with 7.0.

I too would like to know what the year long event is! I suspect they are calling the spread out trickle of content releases a year long event though...

Nothing but the truth. The only acceptable reasoning for most of 7.0 changes would be incoming console ports. But if none are coming, then it's a really needless waste of resources for a game that barely has any left

Can the combat styles be released seperately, and just save the other new content for the delay? Or is there some issues with combat styles that have to be fixed with the rest of the new content, before it can be released?

The one big question yet to be answered is - will players be compensated for having to sit on their hands for two months having paid out for 2 months of something that is not going ahead? It would seem more than fair to me that each subscriber gets 2 additional months added to their game time (no refunds, no cash changing hands - just time to play what we thought we'd be playing in the coming 2 months).

 

And I don't understand how the 10 year anniversary celebrations are still deemed to kick off from 14th December.....

Thanks for the information. I will be going back on the PTS to test whatever changes you are doing. I am glad that this has been put back a couple of months (even though I will be in the midst of a move at that time but still glad) as there were just too many things that were not ready.

Total dissapointment...no new operation, no season end, no galactic season 2 NOTHING until 2 months when vacations/holidays will end anyway. deserve a chance to rest and recharge? The work isn't done lmao, zero results. Why should they rest and recharge? There is literally Nothing to do in the game until 15 february. More funny is that even with 7.0. being delayed, we still won't get new operation which will probably appear somewhere near end of the summer?

How would you tell the difference between the people who unsub because of this and the ones who only intended to sub for one month anyway (to get the expansion for "free")?
