BRWC Terminating...

I remember when EA pulled devs from this game to work on Anthem. One should hope they'd be able to pull devs from another team to address this issue since the current ones are likely bogged down with 7.0 stuff. Otherwise, I'm stuck in the same boat as everyone else with an Alder Lake CPU. At first, I thought it was a Windows 11 issue since I installed that to go with my 12900K, but after having gone back to Windows 10 the game launcher still won't load.

Edit: The title of this thread should be "Issue with the Launcher and Alder Lake." It's obvious the 12700K has issues, and so does my 12900K. It's a safe bet that the 12600K is in the same boat, hence it being an Alder Lake issue and not a specific CPU from the Alder Lake lineup.

Same issue here. Trying to launch the game on an i7-12700KF and the taskbar simply flashes for a quick second and then nadda. Game ran fine on my previous rig (i9-9900K + Windows 10 and Windows 11). Not sure if it matters (it probably doesn't, but you never know when troubleshooting), but I'm using DDR4 RAM on this new setup, so I dunno if other folks experiencing this are as well, or are on DDR5.

I tried the launcher repair bit that that didn't change anything; game/launcher still won't launch.

I believe it matters. I also had a 9900K with my former build and Windows 10. I bought a Gigabyte Z690 Aorus Elite AX DDR4 motherboard to go along with my 12900K, and I opted for Windows 11. It was a fresh installation on a brand new m.2 drive. Lo and behold, the game won't load. So, I created a new partition on the same drive and installed Windows 10. Same result, meaning it's not likely an OS thing as some people may think.

After trying different BIOS settings to include disabling the E-cores, the game won't load no matter what. There was a recent BIOS update for my board that I installed which included the scroll lock E-core parking control feature, and even that does nothing (not that I expected it to). At this point, I'm wondering if the launcher is using AVX-512. People are saying that disabling the E-cores on some motherboards may open additional AVX options such as enabling AVX-512, but mine does not. When looking at CPU-Z, the 12900K supports AVX and AVX2 but not AVX-512. So, if the launcher is using AVX-512 for whatever reason, that could very well be the culprit. By the way, I completely disabled AVX via the BIOS to see if that would trigger the launcher to load. Nope.

Hoverboy, I am running a 3080 with a 12700kf on the Gigabyte z690 Gaming X DDR4 with F4 Bios and xmp 3600 cl16 ram--fresh installs of Windows 10 & 11. It is not just you. Sadly this is something with alder lake and needs resolving on EA's side.

Gigabyte released a new BIOS version for your board just this past Friday (version F6a). I don't know about you, but I was having a number of BSODs with F4. Since installing F6a, I haven't had a single BSOD. Also, the new version includes the scroll lock E-core park control feature. That may not help for SWTOR, but you may want to consider updating the BIOS for any other games you play that could be impacted by DRM issues with Alder Lake. To go with it, Gigabyte introduced a new software utility called the DRM Fix Tool. That actually parks the E-cores unlike how the scroll lock key is intended to. Just throwing this out there for you.

I was not aware of this and must have just missed the update as I had installed the upgrade Friday. I will follow suit and update as well, thank you for letting me know of this.

Maybe this will help:

There are several "old" games that have problems with the new processor.

Google helps you ... :)

...

If you would review the other posts you will find this is unlikely to be the issue as those who resolved alder lake's compatibility problems with other games could not replicate their success here.

This doesn't work. Disabling E cores would have resolved the problem in this case, but it doesn't.

Sure thing. It was definitely a late Friday release, if not during the wee morning hours of Saturday. I saw that F4 was the current BIOS when I downloaded it around 6 PM EST on Friday, then saw F6a on Saturday afternoon. Anyway, today is Monday, a week later since the original post of this thread was made. Here's to hoping the devs find a fix for this and soon.

You are 100% correct. I have been subbed this whole week as well with no way to play. ugh. Can we at least get an update on this from you Bioware?

Hrmm, interesting... well someone at Bioware/EA/Intel had best get on this because I'm blocked from playing right now and that galaxy ain't gonna save itself ;)

Personally, I think it's time they abandon the launcher and abandon the website downloadable version of the game. The latter takes way too long anyway. Now that the game is on Steam, I don't see why that can't be a main platform for installing, updating, and launching the game like many other titles. Even Origin, which the game originally released on, does that for many games like Battlefield. Enough of the propriety nonsense, and give us a more modern and more reasonable method of managing the game.

So, follow up. I've tried everything, compatibility mode, locking out the e cores, nothing will get the launcher up. So, it is not the OS, e-cores, 12th gen is just breaking the launcher, NOW I totally understand that you guys are biting the bullet trying to get an expansion out, but I can't play the expansion at this point when it arrives, sad face Subscriber. =( Try to keep us up to date on the status of this issue please, have a lovely holiday.

I bet they're swamped with 7.0 launching soon, but this really needs to be made a priority issue. People have been upgrading to Intel 12th gen CPUs and will continue to do so. Not being able to play the game is leaning me towards unsubscribing for the time being. No sense in paying for a product I can't use, even if there is a new expansion for the game coming soon.

Yeah that is why I noted it, I know they are swamped and are most likely overwhelmed. However I am really looking forward to playing 7.0 and miss leveling my toon. However totally in support of the devs, especially considering other studio's issues, not to mention just the right thing to do, was more poking for updates to the resolution. Hope everyone is having a good Turkey Day, if you do that sort of thing. lol

I tried it with my new Intel Core i5-12600K. Launcher will not work on either Windows 10 or 11. Tried to disable all efficiency core and it still fails to launch. Hopefully they get this fixed before the new content patch.

My motherboard died and I was forced to upgrade. So far this is the only game I have wanted to play that didn't work.

My motherboard is ASUS ROG Strix Z690-A. If anyone knows a workaround.
