Whats with the hate?

Reading some stuff on the forum really makes me think about why are some of the people here.

I mean they bought the game, they knew what it was, they played it in beta, seen its features, and they still come up with some stupid childish non-constructive sentence like 'My character repeats its sentences more then once in the game! How can taht be bioware? I payed you the money' etc etc.

Cant you enjoy the game?

I mean only thing about the game that I would change would be more alien species. But by logic thats not possible now due to model clipping and such. And Im not going around the forum being all like 'WoW is better'.

I think it's a great game. I love playing it, and I've officially given notice to my WoW guild that I'm going on hiatus so I can play more SwTor.

That being said, there are problems with the game. None of them are game-breaking imo and I'm still enjoying my time spent. There are bugs, poor design choices, and missing features.

But it's a new MMO and I'm willing to go through some pain with the expectation that BioWare will get to making things better eventually. Next to Blizzard, BioWare makes pretty much the best games around and I have a lot of faith in them.

The problem is the fanboys who will mindlessly defend every flaw the game has to their last dying breath. Every valid criticism is met with legions of slavish kids who get all offended because they refuse to accept the reality that their new toy isn't perfect. They respond with some obnoxious trolling remarks which only inflame the people making criticisms, thus escalating passions and polarizing the community.

The sad thing is that fanboys are going to end up ruining the game if they keep trying to drown out every critic in a sea of defensive posturing. Problems don't get fixed if you can't accept that they exist in the first place. I'd personally rather see this game grow than wallow in mediocrity.

Well some constructive criticism is actually good. I'll wager that the devs want to hear back from players about features they like/hate and their opinions about current features. It's when you get into the petty "It's WoW with lightsabers" dribble that people's opinion cease becoming useful.

Good: Open discussion about TOR's faults and bugs.

Bad: Threatening to cancel if the devs don't do X, Y, or Z.

Good: Voicing your hatred (or enjoyment) of feature(s).

Bad: Insulting the game without feedback.

Good: Wookies... that's it... just Wookies

Bad: Overuse of the words fanboy and troll.

Whether it's ticked off gold farmers, blizz employees, or just someone trying to get a rise out of you, they are here and will probably remain till their free accounts expire.

A ton of the haters are immature. That is painfully obvious.

Like, "Hey dude! Watch everyone in this forum get crazy mad at what I post! LULZ!"

Just don't respond and their posts disappear into the mist...

Hate needs a wide audience to fully embelish itself.

The irony is that the wide audience is actually inside the game, NOT on the forums. Inside the game is where it matters, and there is no room for the /haters inside the game. So all they really have is the mini meta-game called the forums. :p

Most are just trolls from other MMOs, who are scared that this will take a chunk out of whatever game they're currently playing.

Do you really know what trolling means?

I don't think you do

Anyway, the "hate" is from people being dissapointed with SWTOR. By most accounts, SWTOR is an Average game (about a 6/10), but given its funding, and the length of its Development Cycle, as well as the companies, and Intellectual Property (Star Wars) behind it; it should have been at least a "good" game, maybe even an "Excellent" game, something like an 8+/10

See, this is exactly the problem I'm talking about. If you typed this with a straight face then you are severely disconnected from reality. You can click around the forums at random and easily hit on a thread with pointed, accurate criticisms of the game.

Like it or not, WoW is the reigning champion of the MMO industry precisely because they created an amazing product. If Bioware wants to dethrone Blizzard then they need to build upon Blizzard's successes, not ignore them entirely. If Bioware went in a completely different direction then, yes, the WoW comparisons might be irrelevant, but it's glaringly obvious that this game was modeled after WoW in almost every way (apart from being story-driven).

Have you seen the chat in-game? It's much more negative than it is on the Forums, at least in every zone, on Anchorhead US Empire

Yes.

No where in any chat so far have I seen even one complaint about the game. Like others have said, whiners are a vocal minority.. so they post on the forums.

What makes you think that? People that are playing the game aren't posting? LawL. That's terrible logic. What about the people that quit without saying a word on the forums? You guys need to stop with the "vocal minority" sillyness.

Great. Glad to hear you got a lock on the hate market there. Helps keep them off of my server. A shame you don't have a real community forming though, don't ya think?

I play on an RP server. The seediest /general gets is people getting all meta on the current politics in the US and the occasional annoying loot selling spam from some dork that can't seem to find his way to the GTN. The community pretty much chases them off into a dark corner after a bit though.

On the plus side, I got to observe and enjoy a really well done role play between three charactrers in the cantina in Taris last night. That was priceless.

I wouldn't go so far as to call WoW an amazing product. If numbers denote quality then Farmville is one of the best games ever made and Twilight is one of the greatest literary works of the last decade.

WoW played on the "Warcraft" brand and broke into the mainstream which ended up making it a bit of a fad. I'd argue that the game itself is really nothing special. My experience with the it left the impression of a 3D Facebook game, which are also massively popular and lucrative. Take into account that a huge chunk of the 12 million players are in the Asian market and it's not such a juggernaut when compared to other domestic MMOs.

We won't stop because it's a proven fact that most people won't ever post on the forums. You are kidding yourself if you believe otherwise. And no i don't post on the forums while I am playing the game. I post on the forums while I'm at work lol.

But WoW copied most of the content about gameplay from other older MMO's. I mean... Its a genre, why cant you ppl get that. its like saying Battlefield copied shooting from Call of Duty and vice-versa.

One week passed, and already some people are saying 'If this does not change, the game will fail'... Which is really funny as it has nothing to do with the truth.

Ill let a month or even six months pass to make my judgment will it or not fail.

Like I said before, Iv not seen one good argument based on something real except 'Its not WoW like'.
