Cartel Market/Collections/Legacy

Instead of constantly having to buy credits for items on the market or stuff in the individual legacy area (exa. Speeder piloting 1-5), why not allow the things bought/equipped be open to all in Collections throughout the legacy?

Is there not an option to buy speeder piloting skill for entire legacy?

There is not.

Who exactly are you buying these credits *from*?

I'd also point out that the stuff on the CM is mostly cosmetic frippery. You can buy a basic speeder(1) in-game for 8000 credits, and Speeder Piloting 1-3 are available for free from in-game class-ability trainers. Weapons and armour, sometimes with interesting appearances, drop from dead foes, are bought from in-game vendors for modest amounts of credits and/or other currencies(2) All the armour and weapons on the CM are of value *only* for their looks. Granted, inventory slots and cargo / legacy storage tabs are non-cosmetic, but they have a legacy-wide option.

Last point: Cartel Market armour, weapons, speeders, minipets, emotes, toys, colour crystals and tunings *can* be unlocked *account*-wide from the Collections interface.

(1) It works *as*a*speeder* just as well as anything you can get from the CM, and I believe there are even a few "tall" speeders (walkers etc.) available by gameplay - these are useful for seeing "over" stuff.

(2) Stuff like light and dark tokens, Completed Bounty Contracts (from the BBA event), Gray Helix doodads (from the Gree event), etc.

I meant Cartel Coins not buy credits and I meant as soon as you buy something from the CM and add it to one collecetion it should be unlocked for the Legacy at that moment instead of sinking $30 for Ashla/Bogan sabers and having to sink another $10 to add it to collections

The personal character perks are supposed to be credit sinks and being able to buy them for all of your characters in your legacy would defeat that purpose.

Some of us dont have more than 5m credits between 3 toons and are constantly having to buy CC for Legacy/Collections stuff

OP, that would be a profound overhaul to how the legacy / cartel market intertwined system currently works, and you'd get two problems (at least):

1. People rushing out to the forums to complain that their investments over the years per-character have just been nullified by a universal purchase system, and subsequently threatening to rage quit if they don't get all those cc / credits back. I've 190 toons. Do you realize how many times I've unlocked per-character things? I'd have a fortune coming to me in refunds. Not happening.

2. Bioware isn't motivated to do it. As mentioned, it's a credit / cc sink, and people burning real money over and above the cost of their subscriptions of cc to buy swag (and the unlocks you mention) is very profitable. Had one guildie this year whisper to me that he spent $300 on cc to get items off the cartel market that he wanted. That's 20 months of subscription time. Another burned $80 in one pop. Bioware isn't going to mess with something that profitable. Not one iota.

Let's say that they make that change. Are you prepared to shell the whole "item plus unlock" price that you currently pay in two chunks, but in one chunk because they put the price up? Are you willing to pay that extra so the person you sell it to gets a free account-wide unlock?

Reminder: items are not unlocked for legacy, but for your *account*.

I didn't know the account bit, I was just assuming that things in Collections are Legacy only.

And as far as shelling out for an item to be immediately put in Collections, I'd do it pretty quickly. Ive already sunk a lot of cash into this game since Day 1. I dont think making Z00m, Ashla or Bogan a little extra is going to hurt

It's okay to be frugal with your entertainment investments. This game allows you to do quite a bit as a free to play player. If you are subbed (and you must be to post in these forums), that means currently, you are not limited by F2P restrictions. There are several ways you can make credits in the game. The first and least complicated way is to simply play the game. Keep in mind a max-level character earns a lot more credits per mission than a low level character. If you are having problems earning credits, I suggest Maxing a character and farming dailies, weeklies, heroics and completing all the bonus objectives you can as well. Being in a guild and completing conquest weekly on as many characters as possible (assuming the guild also reaches its target) adds credits quickly. There are easy, low level items that can be crafted that have a demand and sell quickly, supplementing your credit income. For people that don't have a lot of time to devote to the game, all you have to do is find the right niche in the GTN and learn to flip items that are commonly underpriced. Over time, you can keep expanding that niche as you learn and do pretty well.

The second rule you should employ is to stop spending credits on things that aren't needed. You don't "need" speeder piloting 4 or 5, you don't "need" cosmetic items to play this game. Think about how long it takes you to earn credits and decide if something you "want" is worth the time it took you to earn the credits.

I know you didn't ask for tips and tricks, but credit sinks are important. The devs should not do anything to remove the current ones. In fact, I would encourage them to keep adding more legacy credit sink perks. If you take the time to invest (and I don't mean buy from sellers) in your credit farming aptitude, you'll soon be able to enjoy the "want" part of the game without ever worrying.

Except it won't be a 'little' extra, considering this is EA/BW, they'd probably add the full unlock price, or very close to it. :/

Considering EA, they'd probably just end Collections entirely and force you to rebuy the entire thing again for full price every time you wanted another copy just like you had to do before Collections.
