Antinoobkiller
I played wow from the launch and I loved it from the very lvl 1 to lvl 60 and it kept me playing for about 2.5years. Now, having had a break for about 3 years from wow and other mmos, i bought swtor with not so high expectaions but seeing it have been a *little hype* about it, I thought i should try it out. So far, i must say, im very disappointed. Im on a pvp server(full server also) and im a lvl 35sniper, sofar i have seen 4 republic players (yes only 4!!! )and the pvp is truly non-existant in this game. Im really on the edge quitting this game after the free month and rolling back to wow, even thou i know its not the same game as before. But atleast the pvp there is so much better than this and im even thinking it dont have to be like before cuz its better than this atleast. I mean, I kinda got the apetit to playing a mmo again after a long break from wow but this game feels like a worse grindfest than wow ever was and yet wow offered so much more. No, this game makes me wanna play wow again.

Everywhere in your post you mention WoW (what a surprise) so what exactly you had is not an apetite to play just (any) MMO. You had an apetite to play a game that would resemble WoW in almost every aspect and now you are surprissed this isn't WoW. You are correct this is not WoW so why you would expect something like this is beyond me. You either adapt or you quit i think it's simple as that. You people (from WoW) have one thing in common. You are beeing selfish. You always expect BW to change the game so that it feels (actually is) like WoW. This is selfigh approach to say the least. Btw your thread is like 10567th thread on the same subject. Edited December 30, 2011 by Endel
Soazak
Right... because WoW has COMPLETELY balanced realms too, right? Nice waste of $60, btw. This post isn't about server balance. It's about the lack of PvP outside of instances. The OP is correct in this, it has been mentioned a lot on these forums. The quest hubs do not cross over enough between Republic and Imperial, due to this, and the fact that Ilum is empty, open world PvP is empty. This means; that while on a PvP server it is possible to attack your enemies, you don't see many, therefore they are not really that different to PvE servers. I didn't see any enemy players before level 40, I've now come across two enemy players, and I play on full servers (Legions of Lettow and ToFN EU - busiest two English servers for EU players). Slopback
this game feels like a worse grindfest than wow ever was Huh...? Are you playing the same game as others? And you won't find more players than 4 in WoW's open world either, just saying.
Antinoobkiller
Huh...? Are you playing the same game as others? And you won't find more players than 4 in WoW's open world either, just saying. well, what i mean is that there is not much more going on in this game than questing/grinding for better gear. The game feels stale, feels like the planets are dead and not alive. And this is a huge factor. Just killing monsters and monsters, moving back and forth between ur quests/planets and still you havent seen the republic players. I remember at wow launch you had fights with the opposite faction almost the whole time while questing and lvling. And you encountered almost whole time. you are right that I wouldnt prolly find any players in wows open world. But please bare in mind that this game released like 2weeks ago and i have encountered 4 repulic players. I cant even find word how huge disappointment that is for me. Yeke
Open world pvp starts at Dune Sea on tat. I've had plenty of open world pvp since reaching there. Yeah, since reaching that area I've seen much more enemy players too, my first encounter went something like this, I got jumped whilst in pve combat and died I med droned and got far enough away to regen fully and killed him, he med droned and came to attack me again and died this happened about four times, at that point he either realised that he wasn't going to kill me unless I was in pve combat or he realised that we gained nothing by fighting, the only thing that fighting did was prevent us from progressing. Only a med server I'm on but I see enough opportunity for world PvP, its just not worth taking time out from what I'm doing there in the first place and its obvious others see it that way too as most enemies I see don't bother to attack. In my experience so far it's not hard to find players of the opposing faction at level 35, you just wont come across them naturally. You have to head to where their factions quests are to find them, which kinda sucks but... I'm currently level 44 and I can say that on hoth (and I've heard this is true on voss also) there are a lot of times you'll run across players of the opposing faction while questing, and it's quite fun. Also, it's probably a good idea when dealing with mmo's to wait more than 10 days after they launch to decide what the world pvp will look like. This is whats lacking in world pvp. I only played WoW before, for like 9 months and in that time I've become a pvp addict though I never actually played a pvp server. I for one would prob do some world pvp just for the fun of it but it would eventually get boring due to lack of gain. So lets hope that some will be added. Else I hope to see some big guildfights or something like it when more reach 50.

BG-Axis
I am on a PVP server and while I agree that open world PVP wasn't something I encountered much of at first, now that I am on Tattooine I can't seem avoid running into Sith jumping out of Dunes to gank me, or the odd single or grouped Sith running around on quests that cross my path. So... keep playing or if you are past Tattooine and didnt run into any Sith you could try makin a toon on another server. Or quit. At the end of the day its up to you to help a bit at maximizing your fun and believe me, if you want to get ganked there is plenty to go around. I enjoy PVP, dont get me wrong, but after 3 45's jump on your skull repeatedly you remember what a pain it is as well. I am on Iron Citadel by the way. No, this game makes me wanna play wow again. If you actually played WoW at launch, you would've remembered that there was nothing to speak of for PVP, and when open world battles did start they crashed the servers, and resulted in all the quest givers in important locales being murdered so that people complained endlessly about open world PVP until they ruined it. I for one am glad that this is nothing like WoW's launch. Not sure why you're having such a hard time finding people...maybe you're just looking in areas too close to your faction's starting point. I've seen plenty of imperials out and about while questing, and actually gotten to take part in PVP that rewards me with XP and other goodies (which WoW had none of for a long time after launch). My, how easily does time blur the events of the past?

poppen
most realms in WOW these days are empty outside of the main cities as thats where most players are whilst they sit and wait for a queue to pop, so good luck finding your world pvp there. I think if people would have patience and wait for more people to achieve level 50 then planets like Ilum would soon be active.
harmonichonda
The OP here reminds me of a group when doing a chain of heroic quests on Nar Shaddaa. We were doing just fine and I had just come from tanking Taral V for the first time at lvl 34. To the tanks who've done that place at the lower requirement levels you know what a feat that is. Well, I join up for the heroic group and we knock out 2 of them kind of slow since the 2 dps in the group were hopping around on targets. Upon the 3rd heroic spot, a guy chimes in that "I must be new to tanking because I lose aggro on the ad that starts off flying often." Casually I explain that it is a lift CC from his own guildmate and he shouldnt be touching it or doing aoe even remotely near there when I have 3-4 mobs pulled away. This starts a chain reaction of paragraph typing from him at which I finally just say that this game is not WOW, you can't hop into heroic groups with 5000000% threat off an auto attack; there has to be just a little sense on focusing down appropriate mobs or at least assisting off the tank. Upon the next pull he kicks me from group and spams general chat for a "smart tank for nar shaddaa heroics + bonus series." What I'm getting at in summary, is the crowd from WoW are used to being handed their gaming experience. I have yet to meet any player from WoW in this game that resembled the level of skill of adaptive qualities that blizzard encouraged years ago when I still played. There is plenty in this game that is relatively easy, the rest players just need to step up and meet the challenge. I think what boils down to the main difference in "gameplay" between wow and swtor is if you prefer to see all content released in the first week, and heroic in the week after you need to stay with WoW for your own sanity because you are used to that. Bioware has engineered a challenging mmo that is going to require more skill to master than anything blizzard has released since outlands-era. Best of luck to the OP in your decision but I'll be staying with the better community and smarter players per capita on star wars.
xlDARKSIDElx
So go back to wow. Nobody really cares here. If you like the pvp in wow, then go play that. Maybe the pvp interaction between factions does kinda suck atm (don't know Im on a pve server) but the game is amazing thus far. If you fail to see all of the other positive aspects of it then you are just looking for a wow clone with a different name. Not going to happen. Your not the first to be disappointed in your expectations there. Edited December 30, 2011 by xlDARKSIDElx
