Just one of the reasons why I don't Subscribe

This is why I don't subscribe.

 

- It takes a long time to form an ops group, even in a big guild

- Then when I finally form a group I get Travel Failed.

- Half the group is gone. We are all glitched and can't whisper each other or group up.

- So now I have wasted an hour and have to start over

- Except everyone got a deserter penalty too

 

AND IT HAPPENED TWICE A ROW

 

I don't want to pay a subscription to waste my time trying to get things done.

 

ADDENDUM: Now it's no longer in Group Finder and I can't even get dps for one of the easier ops. No, SWTOR, I don't want to pay a subscription just to wait one week to fail again at trying even put together an ops team just to finish an Oricon story quest. Wasted several hours again today trying a different times. Saw even a group struggling to get dps for an ops that is in the group finder that day.

 

For players who don't want to wait days to weeks just to struggle to get the ops they need, I recommend skipping the ops portion, just like the Yavin mission where you have the option to do something solo instead of an ops. In this day and age, solo is the only thing you can rely on even in an MMO.

 

Not even going to start ranting about the macrobinoculars final and how people have had it waiting for literally years because it is such a pain in the *** to get a group together for some easy puzzles.

Conquest has ruined this game and the most recent Conquest changes ruined it even more. People used to at least do last-boss-lockout and that could help some people get the ops they need because you could pretty much count on the group finder ops to have groups going. Now you might see just Toborro's Courtyard being farmed over and over.

Well a big guild is just that: a big guild full of people doing different things. Ops have been made unpopular by BW because they are no longer required to get BiS gear. FPs and TC basically are it now.

 

Not sure why the GF bugged out that badly on you though. I've never seen that happen.

 

But try to unsub and see what happens then. You won't be able to carry more than 1 million credits per character and you won't be able to equip purple/gold gear. You might want to invest in account wide artifact authorization.

 

Of course your amount of characters will be reduced. So that could be an issue. You'll go from 3 to 2 crew skills so that may be an issue if you do crafting. Then there are the many restrictions on things you can show with your characters. You won't get loot after 5FPs in a week I think. You won't be able to queue as much in PvP if that's your thing. You'll lose one of your quick bars etc.

 

So just make sure you're really aware of what a sub gets you. You might not like the preferred status as much as you think. Subbing doesn't just get you access to ops is what I'm saying.

 

I get your complaints, though you might just be in the wrong guild for ops. It's sort of a niche thing nowadays because people gear elsewhere now.

I became a subscriber years ago because I released I was spending more on unlocks. The problem with canceling subscription is I have so many characters its difficult to decide which ones to activate when they are all deactivated since you cannot turn them off on and off.

Urrr? Were you subbed when you tried queing for the ops? Because you cant do ops unless your subbed...

 

I also have never experianced any termoil you have had whilst trying todo ops, especilly finding it difficult to find a DPS for ops.. If anything the only role I find it hard to get is a healer, even tanks come by easy

Sure most things you can get with unlocks, but then you do have to buy them and I was just making him aware that he knew what he was getting himself into. And some of these you can't buy off with unlocks anyway. So, I'm saying, better look into it because it's not just the operations that the sub gets you. And yes you can buy extra character slots but I have no idea how many characters he has and so he might have to deal with the eventuality of having deactivated characters as well. If he has more than the preferred status allows and has bought no extra character slots he will run into that for example.

I think your problem is due to 1) your connection (ok the game occasionally throws you out in an inexplicable way), 2) you should play tank/healers classes and organize run in operation story by yourself.

Probably this, GOTM is super annoying due to faction splitting on Iokath and I really hope they fix that.

I mean really the MMO side of the game is pretty good, yeah they are taking a little while to throw out group content, but once its there its actually pretty good quality aside from a few bugs.

 

Im hoping myself that the reason we have small patches atm is that their money is going into this massive 10 year anniversiry thing they ahve been talking about for 2 years, but who knows xD

I mean Op has a point... try forming an op that's not tc and it takes a while, even when I'm bringing a tank and healer. Even on a Saturday at 2 pst, which took 40 minutes to form whatever last Saturdays 8 man op was. And I assume the situation is worse for gods/dxun as I don't bother doing them.

 

This is why I suggested having 2 categories for gf operations, and rewarding the 8 man ones more (cq/tech frags, what have you)

I suspect people don't have overly much direct umbrage with the point the OP's trying to make as much as how wearing it is to witness yet another player laboring under the belief that it's in any way meaningful to hold himself (vis-à-vis his subscription) hostage.
