denavin Posted January 3, 2021 Posted January 3, 2021 (edited) It should not be necessary to have BIS gear to do SOV in story mode. You should be able to complete Story Mode in Minimal rated gear. It also should not literally be impossible to do with a melee character in Story Mode. Story Mode should not be stupidly hard or difficult. It I want to get my butt handed to me every time I would play it in Veteran or Master Mode. Stop making STORY MODE so damn hard. PS that is why you created Story (Easy), Veteran (difficult) and Master (stupidly hard) Modes in the first place. Edited January 3, 2021 by denavin

PS that is why you created Story (Easy), Veteran (difficult) and Master (stupidly hard) Modes in the first place. You don't need BiS in Story Mode, and I've done it on multiple characters, including an Assassin DPS. Story Mode is easy if you know your class. You may need decent gear (Item level 290+), but you definitely do not need Best in slot.
SteveTheCynic Posted January 4, 2021 Posted January 4, 2021 It also should not literally be impossible to do with a melee character in Story Mode. And, indeed, it *isn't* impossible, literally or figuratively, on a melee character in ... Um. Do you mean *Story* (for solo play) or *Solo* (for advancing the story) mode? Regardless, I advanced the story *on*the*day*it*was*released* (with all the bugs and Rass at rank 1 Influence) using an Infiltration Shadow, which is pretty much the archetype for "melee character". And she doesn't have BiS either. Her Item Rating shows 306, but that's by rounding, since she has a few pieces at 305, and one at 304, and nothing usable as a set bonus.
Sarrkoth Posted January 4, 2021 Posted January 4, 2021 (edited) Was coming here to post the same thing. I visit this game every now and then to catch up on the story and this Solo FP was such a slog to get through. All of it culminating in a final boss that I can't defeat because she summons 5 ultra strong minions that rip me and my crappy 1 influence companion to shreds. Be nice to get this thing fixed so I can finally finish it. And yeah, I realize if I grind out a bunch of gear I could (maybe) clear it but I really think it should be clearable coming fresh off of the main story like all the other solo flashpoints. DarkTergon Posted January 4, 2021 Posted January 4, 2021 (edited) Solo play is supposed to be easy, I don't give a crap if a pro player, or NiM player can do it with one hand tied behind your back, it's extremely rude, and condescending of people to come in here and belittle others who are having issues. It's not a LTP issue, it's not a gear issue, this is SOLO for story, none of that matters. It should be manageable, easily with your char in standard gear, and a level 1 comp. It's not for most. *not just this thread, it's in the others too Edited January 4, 2021 by DarkTergon

For what it's worth, I do think it is overtuned for main-story content, and it *was* hard work as a result.

No, it's not impossible, thankfully, I did finally manage to do it on the char that had the bug, but had the comp at 25. There's a huge difference in how it was today compared to the first time, but, as you say it's way overtuned for for story content. I used stealth as much as possible, but these guys seem to have magical stealth detect tech, even when on the other side of the room. Seems I had to fight more mobs than I should have, I can only imagine how much more it would be for non stealths. And this was just doing the basic a to b run, no looking for lore objects, or bonus boss, etc. Hopefully they'll tune it down to proper solo level, as even as it is, it took a lot out of my hands, I can imagine how hard or painful it would be for people with even worse issues than me. Jdast Posted January 4, 2021 Posted January 4, 2021 (edited) Hopefully, Bioware will address this issue shortly. BW has acknowledged issues both with the original release of Spirit of Vengeance as well as issues with the implementation of the patch a week later. I have articulated (at-length) about how patch 6.2a deployed on 12/15 only applied to certain characters so I won't belabor that point. With that said, while I understand BW employees deserved a holiday break like the rest of us, this should be an "all hands on deck" moment for them now. This is the first major story content release since October 2019 and it is obvious given the number of threads on this topic that players have been frustrated by the experience, particularly since they had time to play the new content over the holiday season. Having successfully completed the flashpoint both with the changes properly implemented and without, I can tell you (again) the difference is night and day (though the amount of annoying trash remains the same). Hopefully, a comprehensive patch will be arriving soon. Dasty P.S. Edit: What DT said too! Edited January 4, 2021 by Jdast
Goreshaga Posted January 4, 2021 Posted January 4, 2021 I really hope they'll fix that soon. Considering how long that thing is, how long it takes to kill any mob and how many there are, how much my "i come visit you sometimes" tendonitis was freaking hurting me long before the end all that to get stuck on the last fight because of those stupid second wave mobs and lvl 1 Rass constantly dying, i'm not touching that again before it is actually fixed and tuned properly for an average player in average gear, which should be the standard for solo-story mode.
ceryxp Posted January 4, 2021 Posted January 4, 2021 It may not be impossible, but from all reports the flashpoint is certainly not where it should be in terms of tuning. As such, I will be avoiding it until BW decides to address some of the issues.
denavin Posted January 5, 2021 Author Posted January 5, 2021 I'm very happy for you that some find this doable. But for me it is impossible to complete. I have tried multiple times on a dozen different characters all with iratings ranging from 288 to 292 and NONE have been able to finish. Most can not even get past the first boss. When the boss does 30k to 70k of damage and Rass heals for 20k to 40k it does not take long to become overwhelmed. The best class so far has been my Gunslinger but even that goes down in about 1 min and I only get the boss mob down by half. My Sentinel lasts a little more than 3 hits, and healers can't even dps because I spend all my time trying to keep my self alive, till I run out of power since they ignore Rass completely. Thank you very much for your kind and understanding comments to this post. As for the demeaning comments I am sure they make you feel much better about your self but they are unwelcome and not helpful at all to a problem that does exist with this flashpoint. It still comes down to what I said in the first place. Story Mode should not be STUPIDLY HARD. That is what Veteran and Master Modes are for, Not Story Mode. I play this game to have FUN. NOT to increase my STRESS level.

Fully agree, what really grinds my gears (polite way of putting it), is in all the class stories, and most* other content, you can bring a buddy in, and although they don't get credit for it, they can still help, yet with the last few (not sure how many) solo FP's they taken that away...I means...seriously, what were they thinking, or not thinking as the case may be. *not sure if you can in story mode Kotfe, etc, have only teamed up for HM version

Which are also stupidly harder than they need to be in Story Mode. In KOTFE / KOTET you can summon in a friend once you enter the story.
