So really we don't actually have any choices at all?

So pretty much i have been playing the game neutral going about missions how i felt i would react inrl , so i come to realise that i can't get 99% of the gear or cool gear for that matter unless i 100% commit to either being EVIL OR GOOD , which is absolute bull if you ask me , this game was suppose to be about choice not "well you could just play how you want OR you could do this beacuse if you don't you can't get the cool gear or use 90% of the lightsabers in the game"

That's because neutral gear isn't in game yet.

It's coming tho. So they say.

I wouldn't be surprised if they eventually added in sets of gear for those who prefer to straddle the line between Light and Dark side choices. Or possibly, restrict gear to, say, "Light/Dark II or below" or something.

Jolee Bindo in KotOR was notoriously neutral, it's not like there's no precedent for "non Light/Dark" Jedi.

The way the system is built, if you remain entirely neutral, you're being totally insane.

You're essentially playing a psychopath who has no ideals or principles and chooses things entirely on a whim for no particular reason other than seeing what happens.

If you have any predetermined ideals or principles whatsoever for your character, you'll end up going Light Side or Dark Side. It may be slower or faster depending on said ideals, but you still won't remain neutral.

This is because most choices go hand in hand with each other, meaning that it makes no sense to choose a Light Side choice in one quest only to choose a Dark Side option in another even though the conceptual ideology behind that choice is the same for both quests.

As a Jedi you are FORCED to play a POLICE OFFICER kind of SUPER ANGEL who is commited to help out strangers for free and risk everything. There is no more absurdity and unrealistic to be done when it coms to the player input.

So except for like 1% of the questions, you can hit blind. This game is the essence of LINEAR ABSURDITY - epic fail.

Unless you're a Dark Side Jedi.

But choices aligning with the philosophy that is the backbone of the entire franchise does seem kind of silly. Why even both with this Force stuff?

That's the price you pay if you want to wear dark or light gear. It's comparable to other MMO's which allow you to buy specific gear depending upon how much rep you have with a certain faction.

I would say "neutral" gear is what you find on commendation/armor/gear vendors - the stuff that has no dark/light side requirements.

So yes - you do have the choice to be however evil, good, or neutral that you want to be. If you find yourself in the middle - then you've got to make different choices which you may not like.

only bit of gear requires an alignment is the relic and grey relics are on the way.

Edit: also i personally just making choices i want as i level up, once i hit max level i can ALWAYS grind our light/dark points if i wanted to.

Edit 2:

Is false... i'm only Dak 1 and well into my 30's not from making grey choices but not always choosing the " douche bag" choices. Most of choices i make are related to how they effect empire. Also not going to kill someone could be useful later down the road. Alot of light choices as a sith are actually geared more toward how they effect the empire in general.

I do not kill with out a darn good reason and, while i do use my shock if i think it will help i always give person in question a chance to give up info voluntarily. Grey sith/jedi tend to make both dark and light choices as needed, sometimes situation calls for a more violent approach take Maces choice when he fights sidious...he could have turned him over to council for a trial(light side) or kill him(darkside) anikian also had two choices, attack mace and save palpatine(light side) or let mace kill him with out a trial(darkside).

Grey jedi are far more complex then light or dark jedi/sith plain and simple.

Well, things get even more absurd after several playthroughs, when you notice that the flow of a conversation is completely identical, regardless of what you say. Doesn't really matter what your answers are.

Also, when you finally reach Dark/Light V, and max out at 10000 points, from then on every choice you make MUST be from the chosen side or you'll immediately lose your rank (you can't say, save up 1000 extra dark points just so you can make a light side choice now and then).

It's really moot any ways. You can just re-enter low level dungeons and redo the choices to grind your light side or dark side to the direction you desire. Thus allowing you to make whatever story options you'd like.

Or if you got the cash just pick up the Diplomacy crew skill- fixed fast.

either way i should be able to choose the choice i want and still be able to use 90% of the gear in the game which you can't unless of course its PvP gear etc , and then even some of the gear from the vendors require light or dark side points , i play my character how i see fit , but unless i conform to either light or darkside i am gimping myself majorly with the majority of things i can use

With the way theyve been going about things i wouldn't be suprised if they tried to sweep this issue under the rug and just ignore it completely which seems like thats what theyll be doing

Well, obviously since they havent fixed it in a week its being swept under the rug!

Also, do you normally get rewards for not committing to a side?

Where does everyone get the impression that you cant get all the gear? The only things you can't get are the Praxon mounts and like 8 relics. Boohoo you get a relic with +20 some endurance instead of 52 or whatever. Like that <300 health is going to matter. Too much QQ over nothing on these forums.

Excellent game design isn't it! It made it through the design phase, through alpha, through closed beta, through open beta and into the live game. Pretty much like every other problem this game has. Amazing.

According to Reid it's quite a tricky problem. Of course he does not claim to be a dev but he is either completely wrong or it must be terribly written code.

And yet you are still Dark I. Not Neutral.

It may take you longer, but you're still not neutral. You're still Dark Side.

That was my point. The way the system is designed, you will end up on one side or the other no matter what unless your choices are just totally arbitrary with no reasoning or consistent ideology behind them.

Yours have a consistent ideology: helping Imperial interests, so you aren't Dark IV at that level, but you're still not Neutral.

Which is why I don't see why people say that there should be Neutral gear. It just doesn't make sense to be Neutral with the way the system works and the types of choices that exist in the game.

Not really , at my level i require dark or lightside 2 i am at 1k darkside and 1.8k light only so high in light because i HAVE to conform to one side , choosing choices i don't WANT to choose because the game doesnt reward playing the way you want to , playing a sith there is a 10000% more reasons why you just conform to the darkside because the choices make sense for your actual storyline where as , as a jedi most of the darkside points ive gotten are from either helping young padawans hide their love , flirting with women or sleeping with them , or having a zero tolerance policy for anyone who is evil hence me getting darkside points for erasing them from the face of the planet
