Mattjew
I am a level 25 Jedi Guardian. I have done about 35 warzones I would guess. I notice that sometimes, I get owned by Inquisitors and Marauders that are my level, and I don't understand why. I don't seem to be doing enough damage, AT ALL, and I don't seem to be absorbing any of it. I am using the best gear for my class that I can find from PVE quests and instances. Now, I got sick of doing no DPS and taking a lot, so I looked up Expertise. It seems it is only available on Lvl 50 PVP gear. All of the level 20 gear I look at, gives me a -XXX on all of my important stats. IS THERE A BENEFIT OF PVP GEAR AT 20, OR NOT? Does it provide some hidden ability to do better against other PLAYERS? Thank you

Ghobe
The level 20 gear is amazing at level 20 as it fills in MANY missing gaps in your gear(implants, ear slot, helmet, etc). However, in a warzone setting among lower level players it does next to nothing. The bolster system overrides the majority of the stats(outside of secondary ratings like crit). Expertise appears as early as level 34(weapons). These players are simply outplaying you by blowing their defensives to counter your offensives and waiting to use their offensives until after you've blown your defensives or you simply aren't blowing your defensives early enough. PvP amongst close-leveled players in a warzone(outside of 50) is PURELY skill based. Edited December 31, 2011 by Ghobe
Zeromentor
One: It's a reward for PvPing, you pay for it or not it's up to you. Two: You're a Jedi Guardian correct? You do not do great damage, mostly due to trading your damage for armor (single saber and heavy armor over dual and medium). Three: Wait until around level 36, or so. Your class gets much better around then. Edited December 31, 2011 by Zeromentor
Kadoozy
Just go for anything with high crits until you get in the 40's range. Make sure you go buy the level 50 pvp gear on Coruscant now!!! Can't stress grabbing that early on enough.
Mattjew
Ok - I just noticed that Sorcerers particularly seem to completely avoid my armor. Im wearing all blue stuff from my level. I did not know expertise could be obtained as ealy as 34 - I thought it was ONLY on 50 PVP gear I understand that much of it is skill and timing. Usually my initial encounter with an enemy player goes like this - Force Stasis - Force Push - Force Leap - Sundering Strike - Force Sweep - Master Strike (IF they haven't run away by then) or Freeze. Then I just wait on my cooldowns so i can get the OTHER HALF of their life down. I only use my TWO defensive 3 minute cooldown abilities against high DPS enemies. Saber Ward does not seem to protect very much, as opposed to in PVE and Warding Call LEvels 1-49 should be in a separate bracket from
MatchlessGlory
Orange gear altogether is awesome. Buy it at low levels and use all your planet marks for mods/upgrades. You can essentially wear most of the same gear for the entire game.

That means they hit HARD. Also, your defensive cooldowns are very powerful. Seriously, compare them to other "tank specs". I'd say find a healer or other potential teammate and play with them. Find what works and what doesn't. Learn your rotation (what moves to use in what order) and avoid classes you will DIE quickly to.

This 100%. I destroy people in pvp because I have learned what their moves do and know exactly what to do to counter them. Study your trees and see what looks like it would work, see what other people are using that is effective, then dominate. Honestly, the level 50 pvp gear is really the only stuff that matters. You should be on a basically equal level with people from 10-49 besides ability differences.
Mattjew
Antoher note - I never, hardly EVER get to use Riposte - Which is one of the most important Guardian abilities. Tell me the Bolster system is fair when I can't block anything?
Mattjew
It really is unbalanced. It is easy to act like a PVP all star when you play as a BH or Sorcerer. Even in beta, my friends were complaning that Bounty Hunters were completely overpowered. I never see Knights in the top scores in Warzones... Why is that? The only reason that I can come up with, is Guardians specifically don't have enough power to compete. I cannot finish one enemy in-time for his backup Sorcerer to completely destroy me. Either that - Or I am completely under-geared in some way.
Parkerdude
Force users are going to do lots of damage to you, they are designed too. Blasters and snipers on the other hand. If one more of my snipes get's deflected ><.

When they try that retarded jetpack rocket thing you just pop resilience and it does absolutely 0 damage. And all the while they sit there letting me backstab. Then once they realize it isn't working, I stun them and continue to backstab. If anything, Shadow/Assassin is the most OP class next to Op/Scoundrel. You really need to study your class and AC more. Seriously it makes a world of difference.

I talked to my friend, he is a level 42 Guardian player. Outside of laughing and saying some things I won't mention here, then stripping down to his relics and running off to troll someone he had one thing to say. "tell him to roll with critrating and go for the plasma brand" This is a guy that usually tops damage in PvP matches, or gets close second. He has no PvP expertise gear, does not use stims of any kind and has the PvP Level 40 armor and everything else is either crafted by him from Artifice or gained through questing and looting. Mattjew
Crit rating? What? Now how would anyone come to the conclusion that Crit Rating would be a good choice for a Defense Spec Guardian. I'll try that

I should level my Guardian more but I love my Shadow too much haha. All I can say is that I have a healthy mix of my two trees and I've found that to work the best. Zeromentor
Crit rating? What? Now how would anyone come to the conclusion that Crit Rating would be a good choice for a Defense Spec Guardian. I'll try that He isn't a defense spec. If you want defensive, try Defense Rating and make sure you get a decent Shield Generator and taunt everyone you see attacking other people. Guard healers or people going heavy DPS or have a lot of people focusing on them. Keep them alive, that's your goal. If you get targetted, hope to whatever God you pray to that you have a healer coming to rescue you, as you might be able to tank a long time, but anyone able to hit past your armor is going to melt you. Thank you - This makes sense to me. All I can seemingly do is Taunt enemeis, although the effect only lasts 6 seconds for the damage reduction. I guess I am frustrated at being slain in PVP. I am seriously considering Re Speccing to get this GODLY AOE move everyone is ************ about.

You're there to taunt people, and throw out guard. Don't expect to top damage charts when you've chosen a spec that specifically is there to get a high PROTECTION score. By going defensive in pvp you've essentially chosen a support role, just like if someone goes healing. They're there for supporting the damage dealers, just like you are. Kryogenikz
Come on, this is common sense here. A sorcerer is going to do a lot more damage to you than any other class because they do MAGIC and armor only works on PHYSICAL. Also, a tank spec is never going to do as much damage as a DPS spec (unless this is World of Warcraft, but that game blows anyway). If you want to kill people, switch to DPS. Common sense isn't so common anymore. -_-
