SpinelessNJ
In order things that I believe need to be addressed right now. Everything else can wait as I see these as game breaking design flaws. #1: Fix the bolster system. It is totaly broken. Gear does not scale right. The entire point of a system like this is to bring everyone to a given point so they can, and here is the KEY WORD "compete". That is what pvp is about. Competing against other players talents. We already are almost useless untill the mid 30s as no single build comes to shine untill then. The system as it stands is worse then a tier system and is detering everyone from entering as its anal **** by anyone 20 levels higher then you me being one of those players. If your not 40+ you are sol. Sorry! #2: Fix the DAMB RAID WINDOW! How in hell after millions of $$$$$ is it even possible for the raid UI to not update. This game is already more clunky then anything else. I rolled a healer alt because I am a nice guy. Guess what I cant heal BECAUSE nobodies hotbars update! Thats right! When you are kicking tail on the field and you die surrounded by 7 healers without a single heal its because they 1= cant see your hotbar in the raid window update and have no idea you are taking dmg or 2= they cant see your hotbar in the raid window update and are franticly trying to mouse click on you for the last 10 seconds while you are surrounded by enemy and they cant even see your hp bar on screen because the enemy hp bars cover it up. So why heal right? #3: REMOVE the option in preferences/controls "Auto target closest enemy" from the game. Do It now please! If you dont already know this option when on picks the next target for you. Say you are attacking someone and they die. Well the button mashing WOWbie is still mashing his buttons. So what happens is the next target closest to him automaticly gets picked. This is why you see pain trains in pvp. A person dies and 8 WOWbies are mashing a gap closing ability franticly untill they are teleported to the next victum. They dont have to choose a target. They dont even have to think just mash out dps and use gap closers. This is 50% of the problem with pvp in this game and Rift alike. It promotes midless game play and you end up with mobs of ranged smashing buttons and mobs of melee smashing buttons. People no longer have to assist eachother or even think. They just mash. #4 Cut all CC in half. If stuns are 4 secons make them 2 ect... Why in hell would anyone put this dung in the game like it is. Stun 4secs, mez!, interupt! Stun!!!!!! Game over! Please for the love of god cut this crap out already. There are no diminishing returns or anything of the sort. IF you need deminishing returns or imunity to CC then THERE IS TO MUCH of it in game as it is. #5 Remove level 50 guards from towns on pvp servers. Let us fight and let us keep our towns safe. #6 Make world pvp vialbe and offer rewards. The guards should scale to the zone they are in. Level 30 zones should not have level 50 guards. It should be a very viable idea to group with some buds at level 20 or what ever and raid an enemy town. P.S. Oh ya! Why the hell are you forcing players to play terrible instances BGs for pvp? At the very least let us pick the map we want. That way nobody will ever play hutball ever again:) Edited December 30, 2011 by SpinelessNJ
WINTER__x
im sorry but what the heck at "wowbie" ? in all my years playing wow we never used anything like a target closest player toggle, was always killing healers>dps>tanks in that order, like anyone with half a brain
JahDux
I can relate to the target closest enemy bind key. It´s bound to my "F" key as in f... y.. , and i do insane scores just like that. Not that the "F" button plays the game for me, nor that someone who uses it is automatically MVP, not it even means that its the only way i use to target enemies, but things just kinda add up to it for me--- and i feel that it should stay that way . Cavo
first of all, theres no way someone with 10 years of pvping under their belt in mmos would ever have written this post, unless you count sitting at the lowest possible ratings ( or whatever the equivalent is in other mmos) mmopvp experience. Stop ************ about a level 40 beating a level 20 in huttball, obviously thats how it works. but naturally after 10 years of mmopvp youd understand by now that pvp balance is found at 50. this thread sounds like it was written by some kid who tried huttball for the first time and couldnt figure out why the higher level players had an advantage, what a waste of time even replying to this... ZombieMeerkat
#1. It does work as it was intended. If you're going to bring a level 10 to a level 50s abilities, then what's the point of playing, leveling, and earning new gear? Bolster gives you base stats for a level 50, then factors in your gear. It's fine that way. I compete just fine against players all levels....WITH THE REST OF MY TEAM. That's right, it's a team based game. Shocker, I know. #2. I have to agree with this. It's clumsy as all hell. #3. This isn't nearly the issue you think it is. Especially considering #4..... #4. How do you stop a button masher? You CC him. WoW had ridiculously long CC to begin with, then cut down to 8. I will settle for SWTORs 4 second stuns. I can handle that. Just because you can't, doesn't mean it's a major issue. Try reading up on Resolve, it will save you a lot of grief.

I am pointing out the flaw in the bolster system. Not trying to balance pvp. The bolster system set out to perform a task and it does not perform that task as I pointed out. Its performing worse then a tier system in return and needs to be looked at. The bolster system is the a BIG draw for the player base and is the only reason most PVP players are bothering with this game at all.
Idunhavaname
I agree with 1 and 6. 1 being warzones is heavily leaning on side with more 50s. Just did alderaan today with two 30s and rest below 20 againts three 50s and alot of 40s. Although we almost won 0-90,the side with more 50s won because they just steamrolled us. If not fix bolster then either seperate brackets or fix the matchup so both side will get even amount of higher and lower levels.

Try reading up on Resolve, it will save you a lot of grief. I have a 50 shadow. I know all about CC. The problem with button mashers is they are being enabled by the "Auto target" feature. It teaches bad play and enables bad players to play worse. It creates massive influx of DPS with out any inteligent input from the player. If this feature was disabled in pvp it would vastly change how the battles play out by forcing players to actualy cooperate with eachother. What we hav enow is a massive pain train. When a player dies almost everyone instantly jumps to the next target without any though as to its priority. That target dies instantly. Assisting and target picking is PVP rule 1-1. If you cant bother to learn these you should be penalised for it on the field not rewarded. I play with over 50 30 year old+++ pvpers from the old days pre EA in UO. We have seen it all and we all agree 100% that CC in this game is totaly unpolished. There is to much of it. Its less about a players ability and more about how many CDs they have when the fight starts.
Cavo
...no its not. that is in no way what its spposed to be. they've already said their creating separate brackets, but for now if you wanted to try some pvp to take a break from questing while you level, the queue time would suck because WFs aren't cross-realm. the bolster system widens the possible number of people that can be placed into the same WF so you don't haveto wait 85 minutes to play. Thats it. and if you're going to start whining about gear scaling at low levels, i dont even know what to say to you, except this, when I get into WFs on my lvl 20-30 character and destroy the lvl 45 character across from me, i think its safe to say that the bolster system is working fine, and if you think people who actually know what theyre talking about when it comes to pvp will quit this game over the bolster system...idk if your stupid, naive, or just needed a place to rage after a bad game of huttball. If you want to pretend you have a clue about what pvp is, dont start typing a post about level 20 pvp.
Mackuss
OP they will more than likely put in brackets but they felt there was no point because the pop isn't massive yet (even though it is but they were just playing it safe). However, I'd happy simply with two brackets 1) - 1-492) - 50 Fighting 50s as any non 50 is *********** retarded.

Actually fighting 50s as level 40+ isn't that bad and is as fair as the bolstering can get since I have killed many 50s. The problem is level 30s (and oh god 20s) below fighting 50s. Bird_of_Thunder
Points taken. I still think ALL servers should have world PvP(if they do, yet somehow I don't know, correct me)

What you are going to see more and more is just how much the level 50 PVP gear means. There are several players on my server that have a good few farmed already. When you get to 50 and you get 4 shot by a geared out player you will understand. The difference in this game is about the same as Rift. Despite the Devs saying in a few intereviews that the pvp stats only add a tiny bit they add an impassible wall that is getting higher and higher as these players are farming more and more gear. What this means is that in 2 monthes when alot more people ding 50 they are forced again to start all over. It all boils down to why you pvp. Whats happeneing now is pvp geared lvl 50s are anal ****** fresh 50s just as easy ast they roll a level 30. The gap from start to finish is to large. A pve player stands zero chance against a pvp geared player right now and most of these guys only have 1-2 peices. Its only going to get worse. Cavo
guys, theyve already said they were separating the level 50 bracket sometime in the next few weeks, we really need to stop stressing so hard about it.
Illwill-
#7: fix the ability lag/horrible framerates when there are many players around. Planetside 2 are talking about 1000 vs 1000 fights, Crysis looks better than this game...and "PvP" (well, warzones) is a horrible lagfest where insta-casts can take 5-6 seconds if you're really unlucky. PvP in this game is broken. We know it, they pretend they don't know it and fanboys won't remove their hands from their eyes so they won't see it. I think you missed my point completely. Skill > level/gear any day (as far as I am concerned, although of course gear matters in mmos)...but there's one thing that not even skill can totally make up for and that's game breaking lag. The people whining about levels are just looking for an excuse. 50's decked out in full epics should fight other 50's only, but right now people aren't really that well geared and although there is a difference...it's not THAT huge. But people will always whine, class X is overpowered and then they claim that someone from class X 2 shotted them from 2 miles away. Yes, a level 10 will have problems fighting a level 50, but compared to the lag...it's next to nothing. I love when the sub 20s hop on me, because you guys don't realize how worthless you are. You don't have any of your hard hitting abilities yet. You don't have the utility that a 30+ has. You don't have the talented skills yet. You blow your initial stuns, and you can't interrupt my heals. It can't be much different for any other class that deals with you guys too. You're not a threat, you're a nuisance and you aren't aware enough to realize that simple fact. You're an easily ignored nuisance at that.
