Markiespud
Hello, I'm a new player to this game and so far i'm enjoying the story coming from it. I enjoy a lot of pve and the role I generally play is the support/healer role. When it comes to MMOs my experience has mostly been from WoW, and healing in that, it's as simple as setting your macros and away you go, however i've found it rather difficult to heal in this game and i'm wondering if there's an easier way to go about it? (mouse over kinda thing) or if there's another tactic that others do. When it comes to classes in general, do people use a specific website they go to that can help me out with builds etc? Ones that are actively updated and what not. Finally, I tried an attempt at my first Flash point and honestly it stressed me the hell out due to feeling that my healing wasn't great (though may be due to gear at that point) and generally not knowing what to do at certain parts, I tried to explain to my group that I was new and I had one person constantly asking to skip cinematics/choices and I didn't know how to do that, which then me "attempting" to try, only for me to remove myself from the group by accident. Thanks to anyone who is able to help!
DEATHZDEALER
Stats and gear is pretty easy to comprehend in SWTOR since there isn't that much important stats as there are in other games especially if your a healer. For Healer Mastery, Endurance and power are pretty much the three stats you will always see. Critical and Alacrity are pretty much the only two extra stats you will need. It ok to not min-max on your gear as your leveling up because you might not have the passives/ extra skills to pull off alot of the combo cycles. Just try to learn the mechanics of the fight for future reference/ get someone to tell you how the fight is and what to do during certain bosses. Like in the most run FP which is pretty much hammer station, when the giant robot boss uses the beam it gives a debuff that adds up quick and amplify the damage killing it target if you don't remove the debuff from your ally once it at 4+ stacks. Try to reach max level first before even attempting to gear yourself. at the moment the max gear score is 306 and at max level you start to get get 268+ item rating gear. Then come the climb to reach 306 as gear start dropping 2-4 item rating higher then what you currently have equipped and you will notice that you will discard old gear like candy till you reach 306. Thanks to anyone who is able to help! Welcome to the game! There are two great resources lately for classes. One is Vulkk. https://vulkk.com/tag/swtor-6-0-class-guides/ These are fairly accurate and up-to-date with the latest game changes. Another resource is the Ultimate Guide of Guides for SWTOR. Here you can find older class guides, PVP tactics, healing suggestions, etc., etc., etc. http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=974581 Both are great. Those guides can honestly help you more with healing than I can, because they were written by players who know the ins-and-outs of every technique. It's also important to research your specific healer, since all three of the available healers operate differently (heals over time, burst heals, casts, AoE and a mix of them). Finally, you are going to find that trying to heal while leveling, while possible, is more difficult. I'm not saying don't do it, just that you won't unlock most of your more powerful abilities and power-management effects until your reach higher levels of your class. Also, once you get a feel for the game, join a guild. Guilds can be a big help in explaining the mechanics of the fights from a healer's perspective, since you often have to heal specific people at just the right time, at least for harder content. Above all, have fun!
LD_Little_Dragon
The guides linked to above are a good starting point. For heals there is no mouseover. What I do is keybind the heal abilities and use the mouse to click targets in the group/operations frame. It's still one click to choose a target, then another click to heal them though. All three heals play quite differently, you should test all of them (by level 50 you'll have almost all your abilities, and get a real feel for the class) to see which one suits you best. Thanks to anyone who is able to help! To skip stuff just hit space bar. Don't fret much, you need practice and the only way you get that is by joining groups. Maybe look for a guild that does the activities you enjoy most then you can liken the chances of playing in a group with people that are more understanding. Joining a PUG for anything always has the potential to be a disaster just because everyone is autojoining to do the same FPs yet there's a good chance everyone has different skill levels and expectations of how the FP should be ran.
