A few questions on end game.

I am wrapping up chapter 3 and moving on to ilum. My character 53. Is it worthwhile to skip ilum and the following planet and move right into hutt? Will i be missing any good story points by doing that?

On to gear, i am a little confused. When i get to 75, i'll probably have close to cap on tech fragments (i run flashpoints a lot and am at 4or5 k now) . I see that there are tacticals and sets. Which is priority?

On to sets, i was hoping to be able to wear what i wanted and mod it for end game. This doesn't look to be the case for and i am assuming everyone at end game pretty much wears the same set? So, everyone looks the same aside from color crystals and dyes?

i skipped leveling any crafting on this character and all my characters crafting was capped way back in level 50. is it worth it to craft? What is an efficient credit maker if you are not crafting at all? I am not expecting myself to log in and play market trader. Just something people do that over time brings the creds in.

You could wait until Ilum rotates to Conquest, and score points while running the story.

The end game priority is to get the ilevel of your first character to 306. Spend fragments at the RNG vendor.

At end-game, we have 4-5 viable choices of set-bonus gear, mostly purchased from the class vendor.

We use the Outfit Designer for looks, unless Gilded Gaudy is your look.

The only high-demand crafted item in 6.0 is augments. Because you run FPs, I suggest slicing, scavenging, and Archeology, and sell the mats.

do not by the set pieces directly, just buy the RNG ones?

I'll look up the outfitter, i have some old school items from release i'd love to have as appearance. is that possible?

stupid question but how do you see what the current conquest is?

Asking if it's "worthwhile" is purely subjective, but you certainly can do it if it's worthwhile to you.

Skipping to Rise of the Hutt won't affect anything.

I see that there are tacticals and sets. Which is priority?

It doesn't really matter. You only 'need' one or two tacticals, while you will want a whole set (or 2).

On to sets, i was hoping to be able to wear what i wanted and mod it for end game. This doesn't look to be the case for and i am assuming everyone at end game pretty much wears the same set? So, everyone looks the same aside from color crystals and dyes?

A lot of people may be wearing the same base set, but they will all look different because of "outfits".

I only craft to make augments for my characters. I couldn't say anything about crafting to make credits.

For credits, once you get to level 75, you can sell every piece of gear you get for a tidy sum (about 10-12k per piece of gear). This isn't the fastest way to make money, but it is a surefire way to make money over time.

As far as content goes, if you've never run Ilum before, go for it. If you've already done some of the expansions, you can skip whatever you want. To help you keep leveling, make sure to at least run 1 group finder flashpoint every day, because the bonus gives you a lot of XP.

Also, if you're only planning on Subscribing for a short while, it makes sense to get to endgame as quickly as possible. That way you always have access to the content if you stop subbing. Otherwise, take you time, enjoy the story and do what you like the most.

Do it once on each faction because the story is different on Pubside versus Impside. Same for the Hutt segment that follows it, where the two stories are *very* different, and aren't even two sides of the same fight.

thanks for the tips. I am a subscriber and will continue to be one for the foreseeable future.

a follow up question. I am level 63 i think now and wrapping up revan. I just started chapter 5 last night. I have some confusion on the companions. On my boosted character which i haven't played, there are like 20 companions i can summon but i was reading that i'll lose my companions soon. So , do i get them back?

am i going to lose them soon? I've only really used jaessa and vette . If i lose them, is there anything i should know before they poof? What point do they vanish?

I got some HK customizations but don't have an HK. Something i am missing here?

I skipped ilum, so looks like i 'll go back and do that.

is there anything i should know, advancing through the next couple xpacs?

Warning: much of what follows will be deliberately vague to avoid spoilering everything. Look in the spoiler boxes if you want to see more specific information.

Advice: Finish the Revan story *and* Rise of the Emperor that follows it on at least one character *before* beginning KotFE for the first time. There's a bunch of stuff that your companions argue ("bicker") about during KotFE that makes more sense if you know what happened in SoR and RotE.

When you begin KotFE on a start-at-1 character (insta-60s begin right at the beginning of KotFE, and insta-70s begin a chunk later), your five class companions and your ship droid all disappear. In their place, you get a series of new companions, starting with Lana Beniko, the same one you've been talking to in the Revan story.

By the time you reach Chapter IX of KotFE, you should have five companions, none of whom are Sith Warrior class companions, but two of whom are previous companions of, respectively, the Jedi Knight and the Imperial Agent. Another arrives during Chapter IX.

Lana Beniko, Senya Tirall, Koth Vortena, T7-O1 (JK class companion), SCORPIO (IA class companion), plus Theron Shan during Chapter IX.

The first Sith Warrior companion who returns in the main story does it during Chapter XIII of KotFE.

Vette

The first ones you can get back are available as a "Alliance Alerts" (minimissions to recruit one or more companions) after Chapter IX, but you must first do the "To Find a Findsman" mission.

Broonmark, Lt Pierce

The ship droids (2V-R8 *and* C2-N2) can be recruited by characters of both sides after you have begun Chapter IX.

Another SW companion comes back during "War on Iokath" which follows the end of Knights of the Eternal Throne. Double spoiler here (one companion, but a secondary thing about that companion).

Malavai Quinn, and it is finally possible to mete out justice for a certain event that happened just before Corellia in the class story. Yes, you can finally put an end to his miserable existence, if you want to.

The last one returns in an alert after the Jedi Under Siege story segment commonly called "Ossus" because it happens on Ossus.

Jaesa Wilsaam, in the same version you recruited back at the end of Chapter 1 of the class story.

Overall, of all the class companions of all the classes have returned *except* Zenith.

Oh, yes, HK droids. There are two HK droids that players can acquire.

HK-51 is recruited through a long and slightly tedious mission chain that starts in the Section X zone on Belsavis. You'll need a level 50+ character on one faction, and a level 15+ (roughly - strong enough to survive on Dromund Kaas in front of the Dark Temple, or in the old Jedi Temple area of Coruscant) on the other. http://dulfy.net/2012/10/11/swtor-patch-1-5the-hunt-for-hk-51companion-droid/

The other is HK-55. Spoiler box about who he is.

You meet him during Chapter III of KotFE, and he is unavoidably destroyed shortly before the end of Chapter VIII.

If you dig in the Cartel Market, you'll find a special item:

HK-55 Chapter: Shroud of Memory

This item allows you to

rebuild HK-55. The item also includes a bonus mission where you play *as* HK-55, but you must first complete Chapter IX of KotFE and a couple of other things.

You can, therefore, have either or both of two HK droids. All HK customizations work on both of them.

You lose your "story" companions at the start of KOTFE. You don't lose non-story companions such as Treek or Nico Ocar, that you get from other means.

That means you will lose both Vette and Jaessa, but:

Vette returns during KOTFE/ET, if you chose to save her. Jaessa comes back around Ossus. Also, there will be a terminal in your future Odessen base where you can summon them.

I got some HK customizations but don't have an HK. Something i am missing here?

You can get HK-51 and HK-55 during gameplay. But, even if you don't want them, you should be able to sell the customization on the GTN.

I skipped ilum, so looks like i 'll go back and do that.

I think I may have done Ilum once, but I always skip it now. (I like the story part of the game, but I'm not that into it. 😏 )

is there anything i should know, advancing through the next couple xpacs?

Other than the stuff about companions, nothing I can think of at the moment.

Once you start the Knights of the Fallen Empire expansion, I would recommend going to Dulfy's guide on companions if you want a specific one back. Or, you can just play through it and be pleasantly surprised as your companions come back through the story. Here's the link for the guide with most of the companions: http://dulfy.net/2015/10/21/swtor-alliance-specialists-and-companion-recruitment-guide/

Any companions you get back from KotFE won't go away again, unless you decide to kill/banish them.

Also, there's an option later on to force the return of all of your companions, so you don't really have to worry too much about it.

I ended up finishing the convos with my companions until i had the legacy bonuses listed. I was not prepared for the drastic change in the game starting fall empire, but am loving every minute of it. I feel like the game over levels me a bunch since i am sitting at 67, just starting it but that's all good.

Thanks again for the help. I wrapped up revan and the final task was just dropping me off on a planet to do dailies. I am assuming there's no story arc after that? As far as i can tell, the emperor is a major part here in fallen empire (on chapter 4).

I'll probably hit 75 this week but am in no hurry to go anywhere with it. I have a notepad of things i want to go back and explore after completing the expansions (datacrons, lore areas, stronghold, etc..).

I am struggling to find a guild and have been 100% solo. Is there a guild finder available in game?

If you've finished Revan, you should continue and play Rise of the Emperor ("Ziost"). If you've already played that, bear in mind that it *isn't* part of the Revan story as such, and was released separately.

yah i went through and beat revan and then continued on to rise of the emperor and it kinda stopped on ziost dailies with no direction, so i scooted right on to fallen empire which picks up with the emperor , just finished the escape out of carbonite.

Awesome. Have fun!

The first play-through is pretty awesome, especially if you have a force character.

OK, that's cool. After Ziost, the next step in the stories is, indeed, to jump in to Fallen Empire. There are some references to the events on Ziost during both Fallen Empire and Eternal Throne that follows it, which is why people often advise newer players to play Revan and Ziost at least once before playing KotFE.

loved the droid and his meat bag comments, no way im paying 35$ for him to come back though :(

i've really stuck to the story and have a question during fallen empire. I am refusing all his offers of power, does this change the outcome significantly? If so, i'll probably run it again since i've really enjoyed the entire story so far.

It's a bit spoilery, and I can't vouch for all the possibilities, but:

* If you accept every time before Chapter VIII, then when he offers *in* Chapter VIII, if you refuse, he forces it on you anyway.

* There is some difference based on whether you tell Lana about him being in your head or keep it secret at the pool of fresh water in Chapter IV. I don't know what difference because I've always told her.

* If you accept in Chapter VIII *or* if you get it forced, the effect leaks out of the area and kills a lot of random people nearby.

* In any event, the text in Lana's pane on the "N" Companions and Contacts panel will be different depending on what you did or did not do.

By the way, I forgot to mention - don't be concerned about losing your companions. During KOTFE/ET you will be assigned various story related companions as you progress through. That is to say, you won't have to play without a companion (most of the time).

i miss vette and feel in love with HK unfortunately. I like the influx of companions and how they are given to you in this expansion. Which ones are permanent?

...I have around 3 chapters left and hope to revisit it as a dark side decision maker, i went light side sith warrior which has been interesting through the whole game.

There are some choices to be made during the whole KOTFE+ arc concerning saving/killing/rejecting certain companions, but those that you save or accept are permanent.
