Solgath
wondering if doing all the planet story missions and story flash points matter? i noticed when on my Sith assassin that when i was doing the foundry my character mentioned the Revanite cult that my Assassin joined on Dromund Kaas, it was an interesting encounter, so the question is, if you do all those story and flash points that have story, does it actually impact your character and open up responses for future encounters? Ahwassa
Doing all stories, side quests and planet arcs doesn´t change the outcome of the general story. But you get optional dialog choices, which are pretty cool at times I like when npcs acknowledge your past.
Solgath
deff worth doing story lines and side quests, just for that extra added immersion rofl, might go back and steam roll all those planets before i progress with my current char. JediQuaker
... if you do all those story and flash points that have story, does it actually impact your character and open up responses for future encounters? It might depend upon what you mean, but I'd say no, doing the story mode FPs has no impact on your character (ability-wise). I don't think there are any choices or whatever that even impact the story, directly, but of course, if you are into story, doing the Story mode FPs would be more completionistic. 🙂
xordevoreaux
What matters about story missions and flashpoints: 1. Story missions if you are a new player (legacy-wide): a. Achievements b. Unlocking heroic moment abilities by completing all class companion quests 2. Story missions with a new character, but you aren't necessarily a new player (per toon): a. Getting your starship. Can't go far and can't get group summoned without one b. Building up light side / dark side points toward an LS or DS alignment (if you care) c. Flirting/romances with opposite-gender comps (if you care) d. Getting an awesome pirate outfit (piece by piece) by completing the Rishi story questline 3. Flashpoints if you are a new player: a. achievements 4. Flashpoints with a new character, but you aren't necessarily a new player (per toon): a. good conquest points, when flashpoints are offered as part of conquest in a given week b. story completion (Shadow of Revan is almost all flashpoint-driven) c. grinding flashpoints is a good way to get renown / crates for gearing at 75 5. Similar to story and flashpoint missions regarding KOTFE/KOTET alliance missions & alerts: a. Achievements for accepting or denying characters to be part of your alliance b. Renewal of romance situation with previous companion c. Starting same-gender romances with certain new companions d. Feeling like you totally hosed your character when choosing imp versus pub upon completing Iokath e. Feeling like a total god completing walker missions when other dweebs can't live through them f. Getting comps you class otherwise would not have Edited December 16, 2019 by xordevoreaux
xordevoreaux
if you do all those story and flash points that have story, does it actually impact your character and open up responses for future encounters? If including KOTFE & KOTET, it's possible to piss off, kill off, and romance companions based on choices you make. There's some inter-weaving in the story lines between story and flashpoints, so characters might mention something in a flashpoint that you were doing as part of your (chapter 4 and beyond) class story. Illum's planet story ends in a flashpoint, and the only way to finish the Oricon planet story line... is via an operation. So you start off solo and then wind up needing to queue or rustle up guildies. Edited December 16, 2019 by xordevoreaux

The only real impact of anything before Makeb are some titles, some companion dialog/behavior, and a few references to older content in new newer dialogs (pretty rare)... baiscally, Lore only. In Makeb, the Seeker Droid and Macrobinoculars quests gate the use of those items (you must at least start them, thankfully there's amission giver on fleet for them now). after that KOTFE, KOTET, Iokath, Umbara/Traitor//Nathema, Ossus, Onderon, and Mek'Sha all have small things that can affect you, mostly in companion availability, and repeatable side missions. Solgath
wasn't really asking about abilities, i was talking more, character responses and such, like i said in my first post, i don't recall having before, but my sith assassin had done the Revanite cult mission/quest line, and i had the option to mention it when i did the foundry and met Revan at the end, it was kinda cool, and was basically asking if there was more like that. Then the answer to your question is yes. There are other instances of getting a different response because of prior meetings in class and planetary quest, FP's, etc. The one that comes to mind right off hand is at the beginning of onslaught for the Sith Warrior/Inquisitor who helped a certain apprentice on Korriban alter a brain. 😉. There are other instances as well.
Solgath
awesome, all the more reason to do those quest lines now, i normally skip them, but i like finding out about that little extra something they add to the game that you miss because you don't think it is needed.
