When I dismount, "Guard" doesn't stick..

I'd love it if "guard" could stick throughout the mount/dismount process. Is there a reason that this is currently not the case? If I'm missing something please enlighten me.

The program just doesn't remember things from pets ("companions") right now. Give them half a year and they might fix this.
