Massive frustration here . . .

Some history first: I am coming from CoH (City of Heroes), so I am very, very spoiled when it comes to the social aspect of an mmorpg. I'll never forget the first time I logged into CoH more than 7 years 6 months ago. After coming out of the tutorial, I was bombarded with very pleasant, eager invitations to join up with teams and or super groups. I was literally swept off my feet! :p

Fast forward to today. True, i have been only been playing 9 days, but one would think the option to team with others would be easier than pulling nails. It really starting to remind me of the month I spent on WoW trying to find a team to go do missions with. So . . . here i am again, fully invested in yet another mmorpg, yet there is no 'mm' in the mmo. Isnt the point of an mmo to team up with others and do missions together? I think it is. So maybe i'm doing something wrong? Is there a setting I forgot to click on to . . . make myself available to others? How do i meet and make new friends in this one? Or is this a 'single player' mmo like WoW?

Please help! :(

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

You'll have to do what we all had to do on WoW's initial release; be social. Ask in general chat if people would like to group up. Ask if there are any guilds recruiting. Besides that, do you have friends from other games that might have rolled on another server? It might be worth considering starting over in order to join them.

Open the social window and flag yourself as LFG might help. Also, have you looked for a guild? There's a forum for that... and a lot of guilds recruit in General Chat.

And give it time, a lot of people are still involved in their class quests.

What server are you on? I'd love to have someone to quest with.

I am very social. I act very social when i'm playing.

I do ask a lot in general chat if anyone would like to team and do missions together, but almost never get any answer back. :(

Man, to be frank at the risk of sounding rude, WoW has never been a single player game for those of us who put effort forward to make friends and find a good guild. Im going to assume that this is a lack of knowhow on your part rather than a lack of effort.

The best advice has already been given in the post above this one, but to expand on it a bit, it's important to take the time to find a good guild which actively groups together. Even when you achieve that, don't expect folk to just jump up and do things with you until you build some presence and familiarity in that group. Kinda like making friends in real life, you gotta put some effort into it.

Also I'd also like to know ur server, I'll come play with you

Maybe it is the server you are on as well, because on my server (Mask of Nihilus) I have no problem most of the time getting a group for Heroics. Now, I will also say that under the social button you can set the "LFG" button, and add a comment about what you would like then other people can see you and that you want to group up...

Other than that, I would also suggest a guild that is friendly and will "group up" with you as you want to. Good luck friend.

Thank you so much. I will try all those things. :o

I was checking my email on this site and as it turns out I was accepted to join a jedi guild on another server. I had applied months ago, but forgot to check. Now maybe i'll try making a toon on that server too. :)

Take a look above your chat window and see how many people are in the zone.

Example:

Tyhon = 118

If you feel the number is low, (like 20 people) then you may wanna take a look at the server you are on. Lots of folks pick a server cause it sounds cool. That is not the best way to do it. Some good ways are to find of course the type of server you like (PvP, PvE or RP).. Then try to log in when you normally would play. Take a look at the server population where it would say ((Standard, Heavy, Very Heavy or Full ))... Your going to wanna be on a server that is at least Heavy. This is one way to know that your server has a good population.

Another thing is do you have any server ques? If so then your server is full. There should be plenty of people to group with.

A lot of folks are still getting used to the game. I used to be a hardcore raider in World of Warcraft yet I have not done any group content myself yet. Not because I couldnt find a group, there are plenty. But because I am so into the story and leveling. Soon I will jump into the group content. Im sure there are more folks like me. That are just doing a lot of solo stuff because the game is so shinny and new !!

Hope all goes well with your search and may the force be with you!

It says: Tython 83 at the top left. Is that a low number? The server says 'standard' for population.
