What was the final straw that made you decide not to sub?

Hi all... I thought it would be a good idea to create a thread for people who will be cancelling when their free time is up so they can make Bioware aware of why they chose not to sub... What their "final straw" was.

It's good to let any company you stop doing business with know why... How else are they going to know and improve?

For me the main thing that turned me off about the game itself was that the worlds were far too empty due to sharding and very low server load limits. It just didn't feel like an MMO.

My real final straw was finding out EA is a major supporter of S.O.P.A though. I just can't in good conscience give money to a company that supports this act. :(

Lack of macros made me unsub but then I discovered a program named Autohotkey that I can make external macros and use in-game, because my keyboard setup is very limited and I NEED macros

If BW tells me to **** off with my macros, I'm gonna quit the game. I'm not exagerating.

GoDaddy was supporting S.O.P.A. for a small stint until word got out about it. The online community showed an upheaval about it and they quickly decided against it.

Maybe with a bit of a push here, EA "might" do the same.

( then again, it is EA... if it wasn't for BioWare behind this, I probably wouldn't have touched this game :jawa_frown: )

SOPA is tricky because I work for several industries where, yeah, I'm not for piracy, but I also feel the wording and implications are much heavier and obscene than the crime. Or lack of crime, given the wording.

Problem with several of these indrustries as well is that some of the legit customers do get hurt becouse of this witchhunt, some of them pritty badly and its over all bad for the business.

Mind you were living in a digital age so youtube, let's plays, streams and leaked material will allways be available and is something that is actually good for your product. The problem is that most companies want to control the ammount of critism as well just becouse of (some legit) fears towards their consumer base.

One set of people who are really getting a short stick in this are people who critise old movies or games.

And for me, it's just the general lack of MMO-ness. I'm not quitting in Jan, I'm going to give it a good three months to see how things go and how Bioware reacts and adapts.

But my friends and I keep noting, it feels less like any MMO we've played, and more like a co-op game. There's a difference there, as I get varied and unique enjoyment from the two.

I put this on the closed world designs and selfish nature of the story focus, personally.

I completely agree. Businesses need to adjust their marketing and revenue model for intellectual property... Not the internet itself.

We shouldn't be deprived of a free and open internet so big businesses can fully protect their property from pirates.

I already unsubbed and I haven't even set foot in the game. 4 days of looping english assest 1 file. This is not my problem to fix. Never have I seen such a terrible launch for a MMO or Singleplayer MMO from what I have read on the forums. But liek I said I wouldn't even know since I can't even get to play once.

Well, as much as i like the game, its just boring... Well it id for me anyway, yes i know it has only just been released, but theres nothing fun to actually do!

Dont get me wrong, ive only managed level 20, before getting a little bored of the constant, "ok, we need someone to kill x amount of people" quests.

I was hoping (altho i havent a clue what) that there would be something a little different here. Companions are nice, they add a little bit, but not much, crafting is the same as any other game (except i sent a droid off to pick random mats while im levelling), Pvp is the same, just with different maps to other games..

Just seems to me that your sorta carrot fed a trail to go on to level, go to this planet, go to this village on this planet, kill mobs near this village then move to the next..

Maybe im totally wrong and im missing something, maybe theres a huge content patch in the distance, but for now, even at higher levels, the game seems massively incomplete.

How hard would it have been to add a dual spec (yes i know not everyone wants it, but it would keep the masses happy), bug fixing the node issue that was present all through beta, delay issue that has over 100 pages of complaints, even the small animations off the bounty hunter firing, the bolts miss, but i still damage the mob, surely a small bug but it hits release (after i bug reported it many times)

The RP servers are another pet hate of mine, why is there no enforcement, even for names on there, i joined an RP server to have a steady stroll through and have a more mature convo until endgame, but all you get is "LOL ARROW TO THE KNEE!" type crap, and apparently this is ok....

Needless to say, i wont be resubbing for a few month, and im sure i wont be missed by the millions that have subbed, but i just hope this game does get alot better and i have a change of heart in the future.. :)

Thanks if you did manage to read till the end, P.S 9 pint of Belhavens made this into a ramble so i do apolagise :)

Oh, I absolutely agree. Semi-disclosure, I work for several bigger comic book companies, two of which by the parental nature of their corporations endorse SOPA. I also do freelance and many of my clients also have a stake.

I'd be lying if I said I never messed with AudioGalaxy, Limewire, and Demonoid years ago, either. Freedom of Information age, right?

So I fully understand the gravity and absurdity of SOPA, and just as an artist and musician who loves to create and share, I'm disgusted by the corporate control, and especially how ignorant the people drafting and debating these things are about the Internet and what it means as a whole.

Heh I just removed mine , 1st off I would like to say this seems like a outstanding game .....for what seems like a mostly single player one , before you all flame me my experiences might be different than yours, it just seems like so much of the time is spent un grouped .Yes I have done some flashpoints , and some heroics , but its just sad to have to watch general chat for LFM spam.

I may very well resub up at some point , but I dont see the issues that I have with the game changing and I just dont think its right to pay 15/month for a single player game + chuck Norris spam on general chat.

The story line is great for class quests , most side quests , not so much , still much better than most mmo's but in most mmo's im grouped not solo.

MY biggest complaint is that this game seems to have a huge amount of displaced WOW players , and well thats not my thing ...

Whats currently making me most sad, in a grey area about if i wanna continue playing is how narrow sighted some class elements been made, forced companions more less due to class disadvantages, to hard content in ones class story near ending of ones class quest, will be a really anti climax for many, if they need to drag in help, to complete whats supposed to be the one thing thats their own in the mmo.

Yeah.

Don't go out and steal Mass Effect 3 or The Avengers movie. But on the flipside, it's ridiculous to hold someone accountable for wanting to use Katy Perry on some stupid personal video. Or all the other absurdities the act bends over to cater to.

If people like your product, work with them, not against.

Hello,

We appreciate you taking the time to express your thoughts and concerns, but will be closing this thread, as there is little room for constructive discussion. We encourage you to make threads about specific game-related topics if you like and wish you the best."
