Sorry i am not reading all of these posts, I will just add my own thoughts and stuff of 6.0.

For all it's good and flaws, 6.0 was ambitious I give you guys credit for that. You really did a ton of overhauling with many facets of the game. I found the new planets well done!

The story lines were well written, even despite adding an old villain (why! New villains always add more intrigue imo!)

I don't know if I like the new gearing system, but I'd probably say it's an improvement over the old. Some gear sets and tacticals probably need to be tuned back, while others could easily be improved upon... But I think with tacticals and gear sets, you guys have another tool to balance PVP or PVE with, these new features can add an element of balance either up or down if used right.

One word, Keith. Crafting. It's broken, serves no purpose in the game right now. I realize SWTOR isn't known as a crafting game, but in past iterations crafting was found to be useful and for some of us, enjoyable.

Right now the state of crafting is impossible to enjoy because the mat requirements are so out of whack for what is crafted no one would bother doing it. Green common crafted items cost RARE conquest materials.

This leads to problems. Basically crafting is time gated now with a reliance on specific rare conquest only materials that the player must wait weekly for to even begin crafting, and the cost is outrageously illogical.

Right now, a common green craftable item costs rare purple mats from conquest! Who is going to bother crafting inferior green gears with purple RARE mats? Who is going to craft green gear pieces that are far inferior to regular greens picked up in FPs or on the new planets or anywhere else, for that matter?

The worst part of this is there's been zero acknowledgement on behalf of ANYONE from BW that the state of crafting is in this condition. Is it really that difficult for community management to at least acknowledge the hundreds of pages people have written about crafting over the past 2 weeks?

I know it's more enjoyable to focus on good things, but it doesn't do any good for the game ignoring problems that really are gamebreaking, and right now, crafting is completely, 100% broken.

It's hard to appreciate all the good when some parts of the game have been changed drastically and there's no explanation behind why it was changed, or changed into what it is now, and that's how it is with crafting.

I guess my major concern is a lack of communication (again? Yeah... Again...) on the forums. After a gigantic patch like this, with some major issues and concerns rearing their head (crafting!) I'd think you guys could have at least one representative capable of digesting hyperbolic criticisms from the logical criticisms that probably should be considered by the players on the forums.

There are literally HUNDREDS of posts and threads that touch on some of the problems (like crafting!) that really need to be addressed, and not one of these threads or posts on real topics that need discussed (like crafting!) have been touched or even acknowledged by anyone. In fact, your post is the only one of it's kind since 6.0 was launched unless I have missed others somehow, which I doubt seeing I am on the forums quite a bit.

Hopefully my point about crafting isn't missed. :)

Thanks for the update Keith I am glad to see more fixes etc on the way.

Certain people whinge too much on the forums its embarrassing. Please grow up and put your toys away. I never usually look at the forums because of this constant whinging.

PLAY SOMETHING ELSE PLEASE. Who puts money into and pays for something they don't like/want. I know a normal person wouldn't.

Primary candiates for the informatic dynamite:

  • The half-million credits to unlock per-character access to each 601+ crew skill(1). This one should be just removed. End of line.
  • Blue FP/Op materials to craft green trash items. That's ridiculous. And no, changing the materials to green is not a fix. The fix is to not predicate green trash crafting on FP/Op participation (not even via-GTN someone else's participartion).
  • Purple conquest materials to craft blue trash items. That, too, is ridiculous. Blue trash isn't good enough to merit conquest participation.
  • 5% research chance for grade 11 stuff. Just say, "No." Combined with the punitive cost of crafting trash items (see above), that's just adding injury to injury.

I don't agree with Stevie much like Winwood but this is pretty much my standpoint but honestly I'd say make crafting for crafters and stop forcing them to play the game the way they don't want to play "if play your way is a thing" then they should be able to acquire everything material wise from crewskills like old SWTOR and if you needed a rare material you got it from a crewskill mission crit.

But the must is removing that 500k barrier.

Funny you should say that, because it's exactly people who express negative opinions who keep calling me a white knight, a shill and what not, for being positive about something that I love and would want to see me gone so as to have only negativity around. So, don't be surprised I respond in kind, because the respect you speak of has been lacking often and frequently.

Because there is a difference between "hey, I dislike this part, for this and this reason" which is the proper, reasonable way to express criticism, and the completely unreasonable "the devs hate us", "they're out to destroy the game", "the game is dying". Sure, that may be someone's opinion, but I am not obligated to take those kinds of opinions seriously, because frankly they're ludicrous.

Put some of that respect you speak of towards the devs. Maybe not you specifically, but others who grossly lack respect towards the developers - of which there are sadly many - should.

It's actually commentary that I have heard and seen, not just a generalisation. I've frequently asked someone for example "hey, did you see this or this on the forums?" and most replied with "oh no, I avoid that place because it's a bad environment". So, I base it on actual feedback that I saw and heard, ingame and outside in other places like Discord or Reddit, not because I want only positivity. I express criticism about SWTOR myself as well, for example, I hate KotFE and KotET and won't shy away from letting people know I really, passionately detest those two expansions. But I strive to provide constructive criticism as to why I hate them so much, what I dislike about them and what I'd change to make it better. And luckily, there are quite a few posters who express criticism in a similar, reasonable fashion. But most don't, most simply go and shout "the devs hate us", "the game is dead/dying" or express really insulting posts aimed at the devs which are absolutely unwarranted. Because even in my hatred of KotFE and KotET, I would't go and assault the developers over it.

In this thread, I have not seen anyone mock you in any way... on the other hand, your comments have been exactly the opposite.

thanks fir the update Keith! Glad to hear the crafting is being addressed. I'm not a hardcore crafter, but I do some. Could the team also take another look at the goals for conquest? My little guild of friends is really struggling to hit the minimum planet goal. I can see why you felt 170,000 was too low, but 300,000 would have been a much more reasonable number for small guilds, yet still increase the challenge.

Also, I adore Arn, thanks for that addition. I'm hoping and looking forward to him being a love interest. I'm still figuring out the new gearing. I'll admit, I was a touch annoyed about all of that. I had just gotten my maxed out sniper in a full set of top tear everything when the announcement was made, lol. I'm slowly working my way up the new gear.

I also loved the look and design of Onderon. I remember the question of a stronghold being brought up there. At the time I wasn't sure, but having seen it I would absolutely love a stronghold based on the palace or hunting lodge. I mean, if I'm never going to get a Copero SH, I could make Onderon into a decent stand in for my army of Chiss toons.

I have been around since almost launch. (I'd have been around for launch but I had to get a better computer to run the game, lol.) Anyway, I don't know how much of what I've read about allocation of resources w/r/t your team and Anthem and other BioWare decisions is correct or not. Whether it's all true, like Han Solo says, or none of it is true, I just want to say congratulations for continuing to deliver a wonderful product to us. Being a Star Wars fan usually means griping about everything 77% of the time. So, I wanted to be part of the contingent of fans that just says thanks for all of your hard work. I am really enjoying the story and the gameplay. I am just so happy that SWTOR is still going strong. I have dumped far more hours into this game than I ever want to know. And I am happy to have the excuse to keep doing it. Thanks so much to the devs and the rest of your team. I hope you have a great holiday break...AND THEN COME BACK AND FIX THIS BROKEN THING AND GIVE US NEW CLASS STORIES AND SICK LIGHTSABERS AND MAKE EWOKS A PLAYABLE SPECIES!!!!! ;) Edited by MistoVahn

I'm sorry you feel that way, then, but no one felt sorry when my positivity towards the game was mocked, when I was made to feel bad for liking the game in other threads and posts. Also, the things I replied to weren't that friendly towards the devs either, so no one here really is on the moral high ground anyway.

If only what you said was in line with reality, things would have been much more enjoyable :)

One gold or two purple boxes a weeky Quest would be nice. By that I mean Black Hole and others. ;)

This would improve my feelings about the new gearing system considerably! I enjoy re-running all sorts of old content and I resent being railroaded into only running the newest content if I want to progress with gearing. That was the part I hated with Ossus gearing.

I just want to have Quinn and Elara back on Odessen terminal so I can actually do Onslaught without losing my companions :(

This would would make me very happy! I quit advancing characters through Ossus when I realized I'd always lose a companion, and it takes months of fighting with customer service to get them back.

Thank you for this post, Keith! It is appreciated, and it's very reassuring to hear some communication; the role it plays in engendering player trust can't be understated.

It's true that only a fraction of the player base actively reads the forums, but as a result what happens is that that fraction of players are the ones who end up carrying your message to the rest of the game - and if those players feel ignored, the message they carry is not going to be a positive one. In game or in our communities, when someone says "How does X work?" or "When is this bug going to get fixed?" or "What's coming next?", they're asking because most likely they don't read the forums and never will, and the people who end up giving them answers to their questions are the people who do. I am in that position all the time, and I know that when I have been frustrated by the lack of communication, I feel compelled to give answers in the vein of: "No one knows, people have reported the bug forever and it isn't acknowledged, it might be never." Needless to say, that's hardly a reassuring answer.

In that vein, I would suggest that your QA Droid in the forums be returned to active duty, even if just in a very reduced capacity. We throw bug report after bug report after out there, and are left with a strong sense that none of them are being read or added to a fix list anywhere because so many of them go unacknowledged and then never see fixes (particularly any stronghold related bug :(). Even just a formula QA Droid post added to threads saying something like "this bug has been confirmed, and has been added to a fix list" would be a positive thing. Not all bug reports are true bugs, some are just players being confused, and we wouldn't need QA Droid to hold people's hands on every thread, but for the bug reports that the team can confirm are bugs just a formula response flagging the issue as "acknowledged and fix in progress" would be great. Because right now, it feels like we're just shouting into the ether and have no reason to be hopeful.

Heck, even just a little symbol or ticky box on the Bug Reports and Suggestions forums that indicates this post has been read by the dev team with no other comment whatsoever would be nice. As long as that's not some forum monkey reading it and never carrying the message on to the team, at least! There's definitely the strong impression that poor Eric (and whoever else he might have on the forum team) is wearing so many different hats that he couldn't truly keep up with player feedback no matter how much he wanted to. (Good luck, Eric! I don't envy you your task.)

Overall, I have enjoyed Onslaught as well. Like mentioned here I particularly want to give kudos to the environment designers. I know some people were unhappy with how relatively short the new story content was, but that didn't bother me because I feel the story implied that we're going to get next story milestones in things like FP or event releases, like we did leading up to Shadow of Revan, and I am personally totally on board with that. It seems a good compromise for a smaller dev team to handle.

I agree that the launch itself seemed fairly smooth, there didn't seem to be anything actively preventing players from playing through the new story content or starting up on their gear grind. However, it is concerning that many of the bugs which do severely impact areas of the game not specifically related to the Onslaught elements haven't been acknowledged in the forums at all. For example: the follow command (which others have explained the importance of), the ability to invite people to strongholds (an absolutely game-breaking bug for the RP community), a whole chunk of vital tooltip disappearing from GSF, and etc.

And now, the elephant in the room...

Patch 6.0.2 will be our last update for 2019 and we’ll target its availability mid-December. It’ll have additional bug fixes along with the following:

  • Crafting changes – it begins! Yes, we’re taking a hard look at crafting and will make some adjustments starting with this patch.

This is very good PR wording, and it's the wording I would use too in order to not over-commit or set false expectations, so I totally get it. But it is necessary to point out that "adjustments" is too mild a word for what crafting needs. You can look at everything that has been posted by players since 6.0 hit live, because there's lots of good data there, or you could just go back to what we already told you in PTS because your testers accurately predicted everything you've seen in live, and the feedback of players in live has precisely echoed (with even more data) what your PTS testers said.

6.0 crafting doesn't need tweaks; if you just carve away at the edges you will accomplish nothing except to make your players much more cynical about the subject and your intentions. It needs a dramatic scaling back.

  • Reduce the materials requirement for all components (green, blue, and purple quality) to the historical norm of 2/2/2 .
  • Green schematics must only require green materials to make. Remove conquest and exotic mats from this equation entirely.
  • Blue schematics must only require blue and green materials, in reasonable amounts.
  • Purple schematics can require purple, blue and green, in reasonable amounts.
  • Legendary schematics are the only ones that should require legendary mats.
  • Increase your RE chance. Players have provided you many forum posts breaking down the exact math that shows how punitive the current percentages are.
  • Remove Grade 11 components from war supplies schematics.
  • Reduce the cost of buying mats from the vendor using Jawa scrap. (As demonstrated in the PTS thread, deconstructing 150 pieces of gear doesn't give us sufficient scrap to craft a single basic green component, and I can only imagine that means there's a catastrophically broken misalignment between your intentions and results.)

Hey everyone,

It has been a while since I put out a post so I figured I would stop into the forums and get an update out to everyone. I’ll provide you with a brief update about what’s coming soon, but first and foremost want to address the issues we’ve been experiencing with our Tulak Hord server this past week. It’s being very stubborn and every time we think we have it nailed, it decides to kick some players from various areas in the game and won’t let them back in for a while. Not a great experience for anyone and I apologize we haven’t fixed it already. We believe it’s an intermittent hardware issue, making it difficult to isolate, so we’re rebuilding that server and will deploy a new one later tonight. We’re going to have to take the European servers down, but we’ll look to get it done while most of you are sleeping. We will let everyone know when we’ve completed the effort.

Let’s talk about Onslaught! Like many of you, I have been really enjoying the expansion and all the changes we made for gearing. I now have quite a few toons up to level 75 and virtually all of them are at Item Rating 306. I’m spending time changing stats of individual items, playing around with amplifiers, and seeing what changes will make me feel OP. What feels good is being able to play anything in the game and benefiting from the new gearing system. I also have read many comments over the past couple weeks about areas you’d like to see changed, and as you’ll see starting with next week’s patch, we are addressing them and will continue refinements over the coming months. Keep the posts coming as they’ve been very helpful to the team.

We are extremely pleased with the launch of the expansion. I don’t want to jinx it, but from the game standpoint, it has been very smooth with relatively minor issues all around (the Tulak Hord server being the exception). We fixed a number of bugs a week following the expansion and we have a number of additional bug fixes being released in next week’s patch likely on Thursday the 14th of November 2019. I know we usually release on Tuesday, but there’s a few items we want to include in this patch, so we gave the team an extra couple days. There is also a little surprise for everyone included with the patch, but we will let you know what’s up on Tuesday.

Patch 6.0.2 will be our last update for 2019 and we’ll target its availability mid-December. It’ll have additional bug fixes along with the following:

  • Life Day returns and has new items for you to enjoy.
  • It’s our 8th year anniversary, so the vendor will have some new items.
  • We’re adding new missions on Mek-Sha, including new heroics.
  • You’ll be able to recruit Tharan for your Consular and as he says, “It’s Tharan, not spelled the dumb way”.
  • Ranked Season 12 for our PvP players begins and winners from last season will get their well-deserved rewards.
  • Crafting changes – it begins! Yes, we’re taking a hard look at crafting and will make some adjustments starting with this patch.

We have Game Update 6.1 planned for early 2020 making its PTS debut in December. When we’re ready to have you take a look, I’ll share more details about the update and give you a glimpse into our future plans for SWTOR. Don’t forget Star Wars™ Celebration is planned for August and in Anaheim, California next year. We’re already making our plans to be there. Would be great to meet a bunch of you at the event! Thanks everyone for making Onslaught a success. Keep your thoughts, concerns, and ideas coming as those are an invaluable source of feedback for the team.

Happy Holidays,

Keith

All this is nice. However, when can we see some individual RP storylines based off of class. And, how about some new ckasses to play. It's no fun to play the same storyline on all 8 clsses. There is no incentive to play it. I know lots of people lovePVP and it's that fine it has an important place. It is also true that RP has it's place. It's no coincidence that the interactive story apps are popular and constantly updating. People especially feminine people want the story they want to feel like they are there in the story. It's a huge market you are missing. Thanks for listening.

Please, please, please let this include an on/off switch for vendor icons and fixes for the new bugs to strongholds.

There is also a little surprise for everyone included with the patch, but we will let you know what’s up on Tuesday.

If this is either a little cut scene with our LI's or the return of Zenith and the ability to buy Kira's new armour from the CM (haven't seen it available) I will literally throw my bank account at the re-sub page :D

Mr. Kanneg, you saved my subscription. It was going to run out this coming Friday, I was going to uninstall the game this Tuesday. Your road map doesn't address everything I wish could be addressed, but it's enough that I'm willing to give you and the rest of the SWTOR team more time in a show of faith. I didn't want to leave the game, but I was just so utterly disillusioned at everything that happened, that I felt I wasn't willing to pay a subscription any longer. But I will give the devs more time and see how much things improve.

I said a lot of bad things on these boards, feeling they were going to be my last words here. And yes, now it's time for me to eat those words. Someone have any ketchup?

I'm so happy to see a post from Keith! I guess I got an early Christmas present ;) What more could a girl ask for?

Tharans return to the consular? YES pls! (minus Holiday I hope :p ) Looking at crafting? GOOD! It seriously needs some work. A surprise? Honey, I'm here for it! (crosses fingers for LI lovin')

I'm not super stoked about the gear changes as I don't really care about that type of thing. My guild is a small group of friends (6 of us) that have played SWtOR together for some time. We don't raid, only sometimes do FPs together, never pvp and are too small for planetary conquesting.

That said, I hope to see the story and LIs get some more love and attention. I hope that moving forward SWtOR will remember that not every guild is huge or hardcore and some people are still here because they enjoy the stories and the Lis. <3

And folks - this. This above right here. This is why communication is so important. I know there were cynics in my other post calling for what Keith did here who were trying to say it wouldn't happen and wouldn't matter.

This post here proved me right.

THIS is why you communicate. What Keith did isn't for the cynics who live to crap on all things bioware and yell at anyone who has a less negative tone than they do. It's for people like the person who posted the above - who have concerns, genuine questions, and just want to feel heard and feel like the game is an active thing ongoing.

I hope the devs see this too. Keith's post MATTERS. And it was well done, if brief. Expectations managed, and it boosted consumer confidence in the product, even if by a little.

Don't lie to your player base.

He's not. Despite the overwhelming negativity on the forums - most people are either enjoying gearing in game and also talking about it on Reddit, or else have said now that they have a feel, it isn't nearly as bad as they thought it would be and so they don't mind it.

So he's hardly lying. The SWTOR forums are just a very small sample size, and happen to have a vocal group of people who live to crap on the game for their amusement instead of playing it...

1.

Any chance of Legacy based guild memberships instead of alt by alt by alt by alt..................

Having returned after 2 years I'm literally stunned by the amount of alts people have and bringing them into a guild is tedious. ESO allows for a Legacy to belong to 3 different guilds. Keith honestly was it ever the intention for players to have 25 alts? I think the reason is people want to replay that class story which leads me to.

2.

Allow players to replay the original class story arc for their character in a similar fashion that we can replay KOTFE.

Thanks for the update. I'm enjoying the new content and the game as much as I did with Shadow of Revan. The new worlds look amazing and compete with some of the best designed worlds like Oricon and the nether regions of Belsavis.

Reasoning behind current craft was quite simple i believe. We let players craft bis but should make it somewhat hard. However bis can also be obtained by spamming trivial content such as master flashpoints. Craft costs reduced to pre 6.0 values wont make crafting any useful, the only way to make it useful is too bring it in line with other means of getting gear, that would implify heavy nerf to flashpoint gearing or buffing difficulty of said flashpoints. Don't lie to your player base.

You don't have the data Bioware does, you don't have the percentages, the stats nor the complete information that the devs do. You only base this statement on the fact that you see negativity here and immediately assume it has to be everyone's opinion. As a matter of fact, people ingame on genchat and in groups seem to be positive about the new gearing changes on the Darth Malgus server. True, crafting is being criticized, but gearing is receiving a positive response. So far, most if not all of the negativity comes from a fixed group of players on these forums.

Besides, just because something that you don't like is true, doesn't mean it's a lie. Sure, maybe you want for it to be a lie, but you don't get to determine what is truth and what is false, no single person does. As I said, you have incomplete, one-sided and subjective information on the matter while Bioware has the numbers, percentages and stats with a full set of the data. They have the complete picture to determine whether something is liked in the game or not, you and I don't. So, if Keith says that the gearing changes are liked by a majority of the playerbase, then I am inclined to believe the party that has the most complete, objective and factual set of data.

Can we stop with the "people are negative" stuff.

Yes, people can be negative and hyperbolic which is normal when people are passionate about something. I feel negative just reading about how everyone is negative.

I find it hard to believe that the only place we can find criticisms of 6.0 is on the forums, specifically by a cabal of malcontent naysayers.
