6.0 Tank Stats

I'm not as good at understanding the math here. Can someone break this down a bit for me? My question is simple: is there diminishing returns on endurance and defense and if so, what are the marks? Also, which of the two is most important? I recognize that Shield and absorb are superior, but I want to fine tune my tank.

 

My current stats are roughly:

Defense 6800

Absorb 3100

shield 3100

Endurance 14,6k

endurance is capped in synced content

defense always has diminishing returns due to its equation being

 

percent defense= base+bonus+30 * ( 1 - ( 1 - ( 1 / 30 ) )^( (defense_rating/75 ) / 2.125) )

you get plenty of defense if you use tan mods and enhancements, so getting more endurance might be benificial if you think you have enough defense. that is why i posted infor for B mods and lethal B mods.

 

follow the tl/dr for uncapped content:

 

tl/dr:

sin: 200 more absorb than shield

jugg: equal shield and absorb. Jugg may want to use some defense mods for high melee ranged fights if using lethal.

pt: 1000 more shield than absorb

warding+avoidance/matrix or no warding if absorb is bugged

reinforced armor looks best since the average m is 0.6 at least overall, and like 85 for dxun

This is going to be an odd question... I just came back, and getting an optimized tank set up and running will take a bit. Is there a rule of thumb of acceptable tank stats for the harder raid content in the game? Is it just a general "try and get the ratio close and optimize on the fly" or is there anything more specific?

There's no real aggreement on ideal tank stats, a lot depend on the class, skill level, ect.

 

In general I suggest going for 3000 plus stat points in shield, and 2000 or so in absorb. That will give you decent mitigation and should work for most HM content.

thank you for the quick response. I have all 3 tanks, and I have heard that all 3 are roughly fine to use for all content-- I know that in the past, some tanks were more ideal than others (NiM Brontes Sin tank, PT Tank on pre nerf HM Revan, etc) and I was wondering if it really mattered one way or the other in current meta. Before I left the game in 4.x I tanked all content so assume a baseline level of competence. I am willing to use any tank, but I won't lie I have more fun jugg tanking than I do sin tanking, etc.
