Skills? What do I do? Oh No

So I recently just got to the point where I have been able to choose my crew skills for my character and I am not sure what to take. I am a Jedi Knight: Guardian and have heard some buzz around the office about artifice so I went with that stuff for now. I was wondering if there was one skill or one skill group that will allow me to make more credits or that allows you to create better items.

Here's a little sagely advice - although I went Shadow.

The game is young and needs balancing. There is no way to predict what items are going to be coveted 3 months from now. It could turn out that all these Biochem and Slicing junkies end up jealous of all the Synthweavers because they can make some OP cloak or something. My advice is take a profession you feel is right for your character.

Like crafting armor? How about weapons? You have to decide for yourself.

Take the three gathering skills, excluding slicing. Don't run any missions with them; its' a suckers game. Use them to grab resource-nodes as you find them on the map. Grind resource-nodes on each planet until you can access the next planet's resource-nodes. If you find a profitable gather, stick around that planet until you get bored or it stops being profitable.

Remember to harvest 'strong' beasts and droids for materials; they'll show up on your mini-map as resource-nodes.

Sell the resulting stacks on the GTN at competitive (read: undercut by 10~15%) prices.

Buy or farm yourself a set of orange-quality gear that you like the look of. Use planetary commendations for the mods. Enjoy your nice gear that costs you no credits to upgrade until you start raiding operations at endgame.

Don't buy crafted gear. Its' an utter waste of credits.
