Rolodome
Not sure if this is on the list, but it really doesn't seem intended. The general way this goes is: 1) You aggro some mobs 2) One or more of the mobs puts a DoT on you 3) You go far enough that the mobs leash, breaking you out of combat. 4) A DoT tick hits you after you broke out of combat, putting you back into combat again. From there, you sometimes have to go really far from your current position to break aggro again. I'm not sure if there's a set distance here or if it's just random. Best guess would be you have to go as far as you did when you originally leashed (maybe the game thinks you aggroed the mobs at the location you were at when the DoT ticked to put you back in combat and that's what the leash distance is based on?) Rolodome
More information: This can happen from a DoT tick on your companion as well. And has long been a thing that can break you out of stealth after using a disappear ability. While I can see the strategy of this being a reality in PvP, it's very annoying in PvE due to the nature of how aggro works. If at all possible to do, I would recommend differentiating the way DoT ticks work with regards to aggro when casted by an NPC versus when casted by a player, so as not to impact the PvP dynamic. For example, by saying that the tick in an NPC version of a DoT doesn't trigger combat at all. And if there isn't an "NPC version of a DoT," then I guess you'd have to make one to differentiate. Dev Post QA_Droid Posted July 1, 2019 Dev Post Share Posted July 1, 2019 Thanks for the post Rolodome! We believe this might be an issue with some DOT abilities on some NPCs. Can you tell me which mobs you've been fighting that have made this happen? Not sure if this is on the list, but it really doesn't seem intended. Rolodome
Hi, thank you for the response. The last time I recall this happening was in Section X doing impside dailies for the weekly quest. I believe the two areas it happened were: - Running from some mobs near the entrance to the area where you complete [Daily] Targeted Misfire. I ran away from the entrance (IIRC, I was on my way out and aggroed some near the entrance). - Running from some mobs inside of [Heroic 4] The Aurora Cannon on the way to the objective. In both cases, I leashed far enough to end combat and then was put back into combat by a DoT tick. I will keep an eye out for specific type of DoT/name and mob name if I see it happen again. Rolodome
So I might have more information on this or might be nothing. I haven't noticed it happen again yet, but I did notice a DoT that landed on me today called Shocked (Tech) - [Description: Periodic energy damage.], which looks familiar (possibly the DoT that was on me one of the times it happened recently). So if you're thinking specific DoTs, maybe take a look at that one.
