Solaras
I'm now 31 years old and have played MMORPG's long enough to have ruined a marriage or two over them. I have to say, I'm having an absolute blast with the Consular Sage. If someone would've told me "Hey-How about I take your WoW Priest (played for 7 years) and your Gravity Controller (CoH) and mash 'em together?" Yes plox. And SWTOR did. And it is glorious. Just a little thread to express my appreciation for the work put in to SWTOR and support Bio/EA on a job well done. The negative threads are tiresome, but from what I've seen from everyone I've encountered in game, it's just phenomenal. Keep up the good work, and thanks for my Gravity Controlling Priest. Deedre
It's got a little mage and warlock thrown in there for good measure.
Lumpyone
Bump up because its good to see someone saying it well about the Sage class. I love it because I feel like I got my mage and one that can heal. Or my disc priest but a lot more fun to play. Overall, for how new this game is, its amazing and wonderful to play. The Bioware/EA team has done an excellent job.
Solaras
That was the point of the thread. To give "props" to the folks behind this class. The amount of utility wrapped up in this class is stellar. Makes for an amazing play experience. As far as the sprinkling of mage and warlock, I couldn't agree more. CC and DoTs on top of everything else is all gravy.
Deedre
The class sure does give your keybindings a workout though. There's a ridiculous number of abilities. (Which is why I'm relieved, not disappointed, in the lack of melee abilities. We've already got a full plate as is.)
Phuzzi
I think it has the potential to be a very good class but I think currently the UI holds it back, at least for me I can't play as well as I want/expect to due to UI limitations. As for favourite class ever, for me that goes to Rift's chloromancer, genius idea rather than just a rehash of existing stuff (at least I'd not come across a class like it before), basically you healed by doing damage to mobs (via a spell you cast on a single player). underbridge
I don't know what all this wow chat is about and the Act 1 story was god awful (IMHO ), but as a healing class; epic; love it, wouldn't change it for all the heavy armour and big guns in the Galaxy ^^

I loved the chloromancer. Ultimately disliked the mage class in general in that game and quit it, but chloromancy was pure genius. It's a healing model more games ought to adopt. But I'm very fond of the sage as well, even if it's a more old school type healer. Agree with you about the UI, it is crude and not very heal friendly. I expect improvements in this area, Bioware is on it, Bioware has said as much, and I'm willing to cut them some slack here. Since we are on the subject of Rift, that game had an amazing UI, possibly the best I've seen in an MMO. You could play that game completely stock with no add ons. (They did, however, have a craptastic macro system that quickly got out of hand.)

Solaras
Not just heal with a light saber in hand, but occasionally throw some pebbles, lift some fools in to the air, toss an R-2 unit in to a boss's face-the ability to throw DPS in to the rotation itself is fun. Bad-assery all around. As far as the Chloromancer, I tried Rift in beta and rolled Chloro-I loved the idea of it. The discipline priest was fun when "smite" healing was legit. Same sort of deal. But yeah, I still maintain the Priest + Gravity Controller from City of Heroes is pure win...ty again, Bio. Now get on that "responsiveness" issue when I'm healing! Get that fleshed out and I'll have a perma-tent.
kobrah
i was going to roll a Jedi Knight as my first character but my buddy and the rest of my guild said "roll a healer, we need one". so i did. looked at the options, and chose jedi sage as it kind of appealed to me. best move i made. i absolutely freaking love this class. Dabrixmgp
My main in WoW was also a priest. Guess I might give this class a go. Also whoever said theres a lot of keybinds just how many is a lot? Im comfortable using around 10-12 of them anymore and I start messing up my rotation. Solaras
I'd say there are about 15-16 abilities you *can* use at any given time. I'm spec'd for ranged DPS and while solo PvE I use about 4-5 and while healing I use 6-8 so alot of the spells are situational. Obviously, you can ignore alot of the heals while soloing PvE content, and vice versa with dps spells while healing. Though I would like a few shift-modifier macros it's not game stopping for me. It works. Roll and enjoy. You won't regret it.
Catlana
It's got a little mage and warlock thrown in there for good measure. QFT! This is an excellent class. Bioware please do not turn us into some melee hybrid like some here on the forums want.
Solaras
Now that we have Bio/EA feeling all warm and fuzzy, let's hope they leave our damned combat animations alone. I love project-could care less about the 1/2 second disparity with it's counterpart, and telekinetic throw has grown on me. Sand blasting your enemies faces with rocks is wicked cool. XD There are situations where that disparity is huge though. I've had to switch to Force Slow if I absolutely need to hit someone instantly. fuchsiashock
I'm just about to choose my advanced training for consular and am not sure about it. I've had a bad experience being a healer - you tend to be keenly recruited by groups because you're a healer and they need you, but then poorly treated because you're 'just a healer'. Also typically combat becomes very dull. Im assuming this ISN'T the case with Sage? The Shadow appeals more in coolness factor due to the implication that it's a bit more in the tank department. Ultimately I like to have fun experiences of often solo combat but am happy to group to do my bit if I'm not stuck spamming a heal ability. Any advice? I personally played healers in other games but never liked them much. I always felt like I was just "a healer" as you mentioned. Not so with the Sage. You get a good solid group for Flashpoints and Heroics, and you find yourself dps'ing more than healing. Sure, you throw the necessary heals down when its time or throw up Force Shield + Rejuvenate. However, you get plenty of options to dps at the same time, as well as Force Lift for CC, Slow, Interrupt, DoTs... Personally, I almost re-rolled, but then I respecc'ed, put my first 5 points into the TK tree and it improved my Force so much I've never looked back and have no complaints. This really is a well rounded and fun to play class.
Mysia
I love my sage. I found way back in SWG that I am much more adept at healing, than dps.As to anyone who treats us poorly for being "just a healer", let's see how long they last in higher level heroics without us; you can't dps if you are dead. Phuzzi
yeah I do question the "you're not just a healer" thing when it comes to high level stuff. Sure we have utility as well with stuns/interrupts/CC but I find it hard to believe the high level flashpoints and ops can be done with the group healer dpsing on anything but trash, otherwise it would be trivially easy. Personally I think if you're going a healing spec sage then expect to be healing most of the time in groups.
Adunier
He's right. Just did the Taris V flashpoint as a sage. Didn't kill a single thing. Also didn't let any of my team-mates die, which is kinda the point for a healer.
Devlonir
I am personally loving my Telekinetic Sage. Coming from WoW where my favorite classes were Mage and Shaman I see a lot of stuff I love in this class and spec. But most of all things, I just love our key powers: Disturbance looks a lot more powerful than any basic rotation filler I have ever played with. The person-sized ball of Force just feels strong. Telekinetic Throw (aka pebbles) doesnt look great when used on a boss mob, but the slow effect and how a mob coming towards you is shielding his face while under the effect of it just looks wonderful! Telekinetic Wave feels VERY strong. Both the 3 second cast version as an opener, and the instant one procced by Disturbance just make you feel very strong that you can create so much power from your hands. And finally Project is probably the coolest animated spell in game, despite it's mechanic inferiority towards the Inquisitor shock. I love the fact that I'm a Sage and have a variety of cool animations in different powers, while the inquisitor just has Lightning for everything. Thank you for the design of this class! Xalt
I agree, I originally made a Jedi Guardian as my main but decided to give the Consular a try. At level 10 I choose Sage as my AC and haven't looked back. My TK sage is now my main. They really are the most rounded class.

Props to them for making such a nice class really.. i recently dinged 50 and enjoyed every bit of it Edited January 4, 2012 by Khandi
