Sorry, dumb question about adding stats

Is the only way to customise your primary stats through items or item modification? Meaning, you don't get any stats per lvl to fiddle with?

Correct, although you can also pick up datacrons for tiny stat bonuses in various places, but assuming you pick up all of them (to get the best stat gains possible), you're really not adjusting stats at all. All stat adjustment is done through gear.

There is another method, datacrons, but no you don't get a pool of stat points to add to your stats every level. For the most part it's all from gear.
