My wife and I just rewatched the old Launch Cinematic’s last night on our big TV.

SPOILER

Going back and rewatching them after playing for 7 years and knowing all the story and characters intimately was really interesting and I dare say a little exciting. You basically know everyone in them now (which you may not have at launch). It’s like going back and watching a favourite movie with all the characters you love.

You get to see a young Satele and older Satele, you see how Malcom ends up with road rash on his face, you see a young Darth Malgus before the scares and how he gets them. There is Vette, who looks really hot (IMO) and Shae, T7 and of course Nicco, who is just too cool for school.

My wife’s also read a lot of back story online and told me a few things that filled in any tiny gaps, especially about Malcom and Satele. Which made seeing them fighting together before they had Theron a little exciting. Imagining a tiny Baby Bump in the scene was fun.

We even watch the later ones with Valkorian, Thexan, Arcan, Valin and Senya. The young Senya is also pretty hot.. They are well made and tell how they got there. It gives you a view Into them other than the playable story. You can see how Arcan went Dark, how Thexan was more Light and why Valin needed to learn control, but Valkorian broke her. And poor Senya was was emotionally crushed.

I think if Thexan had lived, He would have either joined us with Senya or Arcan would never have been as bad.

One thing I am wondering. At the start of the first one with Valkorian you see a quick flash of Arcan killing him from behind. Is that Valkorian having a force vision of the future. Is that why he treats them the way he does? It has so many possibilities.

If you’ve not watched them for a long time, I highly recommend watching them again.

One thing I did note was the shading and reflections seem better than I remember. I wasn’t sure if it was the TV or not, so I checked on the normal monitor and it’s the same. I might be misremembering, but I don’t think so. I think the upgraded game graphics over the years have been applied to the cinematic’s as well :D

Go watch and enjoy

EDIT:

Does anyone know how to extra the cinematic’s to watch outside of the game?

That actually wasn't Vette in the cinematic, it was another Twi'lek named Eleena Daru who was Malgus' love interest at one point.

Ultimately, he decided to kill her because she was a weakness his enemies could exploit to influence his emotions and actions. As a Sith, he found that unacceptable and did what he thought he had to do. There's a great book involving several characters from that cinematic titled The Old Republic: Deceived by Paul S. Kemp. I highly recommend it.

I really love all the cinematic trailers, the story-telling is great especially for how relatively short they are (Just about 5 minutes) when compared to a lot of other medias like movies or even TV shows with their 20 to 40 minutes episodes. I also love how they set up the game's story and certain plots and characters, especially in the KOTFE and KOTET trailers.

No need to extract them. You find them in the "movies" folder of your game as .bik files. My free VLC player plays them just fine. Just copy e.g. "betrayal.bik" to wherever you want.

I remember being awed when I watched the three cinematic trailers, absolutely great pieces of work. And then came the KoTFE and KoTET cinematic trailers, stunning again, especially Darin De Paul's voice acting. Both got me extremely hyped for their respective expansions.

And the Betrayed literally left me in tears when it showed what happened to Vaylin and Senya.. :(
