sdom Posted May 7, 2019 Posted May 7, 2019 Lets be real. 1. There's really no point to datacrons unless you're an endgame player or a completionist working on your legacy. 2. While the stat boosts are good numbers when one has them all, I would argue they only really matter and become visible once you're fully geared, as it is then you need stats to have the edge. So ofc you could be a player who knows the game all ready. For 90% of players though, I would imagine they grind and begin to gear as a 70 before touching datacrons or understanding the need and benefits of those extra points. That is a LOT of grinding. So what I don't appreciate, is having to wait 60 mins just to get one of the datacrons, like when going after the Red Mastery Datacron on Tatooine. You have to wait for the jawa balloon to do a rotation of the dune sea and come to a point where you can board it, then wait at least another 10/20 mins for it to get to the location you need it to go. Thats just a massive time sink. Its boring and there's no need for anyone to have to wait that long when devs can simply speed up the balloon. A Party Jawa clings to a balloon that has a rocket engine on it. Why is the real thing not got one and why is it so slow? A balloon can travel the earth in 14 days and im expected to wait 1/24th of one of those days just for a cyber taxi to float across the dune sea? When a speeder crosses a farther distance than that in less than 60 seconds?? Naw mate. Somethings not right there and I think its wrong for devs to make players do such insane screentime for anything less than the most coveted items in the game. (Which datacrons are not). Bioware please fix this and end the suffering. Or at least add a sand dweller tuning into the mix so its worth the hassle, as was done on ossus with the ood banar. I feel like ossus was less work than coming at the wrong time for the Tatooine Mastery. And for the love of god don't pull this kind of stunt again in September.
JattaGin Posted May 7, 2019 Posted May 7, 2019 There is still the alternative to let someone push you up the sandcrawler. I suppose this is still possible to do. On my first char, more than 7 years ago, the balloon disappeared a few meters before the sandcrawler. Luckily, Tatooine was full of players back then and some friendly trooper or jedi (I don't remember) came to the rescue and pushed me up the sandcrawler. I was so thankful back then. Still am, actually.

Still am, actually. I didn't know you could climb it but i did figure. The glitch you're talking about that happened 7 years ago, where the balloon disappears over the czerka camp - is actually still there. That's Bioware at its finest right now unfortunately. Just for the record, if you linger in sheer disbelief for a while pondering your life choices as I did - it does appear but it takes about 5mins to do so and another 20 odd to actually get to the sandcrawler. I'd be paying the guy if he carried me through that
