The devs should update all datacrons and crystal shards so that once you have collected the stat boost / shard on your legacy, you can then re-run the datacrons for decorations. Each Datacron would have a new and different decoration, and each time you run that datacron you get a single copy of the decoration.

I absolutely loved the "easter egg" feel of datacrons. I'm glad they unified them per legacy, but I would love it if they would bring back usefulness. However, I'd lean more in the direction of looking for new locations (hard to reach places, etc.) for additional datacrons. Unfortunately, that may be a coding nightmare knowing how this game engine is.

 

Imagine if these new datacrons gave you special stat boosts only available for 3 weeks or something. 3% crit chance, health, etc. You would have to search them out every few weeks for the benefits.

 

Of course, probably not everyone likes platforming in this game like I do. Remember falling off at the very end of a tedious path? Lol. As long as they don't repeat the sandcrawler, I'll be fine.

Ah yes, the good old sandcrawler. What fun that was on a PvP server. I made the mistake of trying to get those when I wasn't max level, and well...let's just say getting Force pushed off the side before getting what I came for was not a pleasant experience.

I think it would be nice if there was some reward for getting to the datacrons again. A deco? Why not.

 

I just recently started a char on the German server. It's an interesting feeling. Starting the game fresh again. No legacy perks. No credits. And no datacrons.

 

I have fun getting to the datacrons again. Trying to remember where and how. The char is on Nar Shaddaa now. Just when I entered the Corellian Sector the transportation device was right at the entering spot. So I spontaneously jumped on it. Now I'm wondering how that juke box thingy worked... and no, I will not read a guide for it.

 

For me, datacrons were some of the most fun content in this game. I love finding out how to get them. The Makeb one... awesome idea. It was so cool to figure out how to get there, studying the map etc. (Except for the jumping troubles and having to re-start a dozen times because of falling down. That was disastrous. :p)

I like this idea. I remember getting my Datacron Master title and despite a few of them making me pull out my hair in sheer frustration it mostly a fun experience I'd be happy to do them again for decorations.

 

Ah yes, the good old sandcrawler. What fun that was on a PvP server. I made the mistake of trying to get those when I wasn't max level, and well...let's just say getting Force pushed off the side before getting what I came for was not a pleasant experience.

 

I wasn't on a PVP server but I joined a small groups of people (4 of us) all giving it a go. I was so nervous and I was the only one who didn't make the jump off the balloon onto the crawler, just missed it, I was so embarrassed. Next try I made sure I was alone as to not embarrass myself if I didn't make it and of course that time I did make it.

Not a bad line of thinking but an impractical idea in my opinion.

You all ready get two, amazing decorations for finding all the datacrons for both factions.

These decorations, depicting all the types of holocron you found. are of a quality that makes me grind datacrons just for those. Im sure im not alone in that being my motivation either.

 

Now if that's not enough to make you grind them all ready - then I don't know what is - but I know adding 100 odd decorations (1 for every "single" copy of the datacrons you find if im understanding you) - that's just going to make people greedy and its an incredible drop rate for something so menial.

 

Yes I guess it would maybe work to draw attention to the datacrons, but I'm not sure they lack attention in the first place, you only do them once per legacy so its not exactly a common thing to see done - and they're also pretty mandatory game content if you get fully geared and want to be a competitive strength.

 

"Free stats isn't enough give Free decorations and people will do it".

Just grind the Star Fortress solo flashpoints and kill the paldins.

You'll get 3 decos every playthrough and they're all Zakuulan. YW

Nah...just add in new content instead. I'm fine with the basics of this idea, just make it a new trinket to chase, not something we've had in game for 7-1/2 years.

Here's the only way I see it happening.

 

  • Armageddon
  • "THe RaPtuRe"
  • Jesus Flies down from the Rapture with a couple of million canadian dollars
  • Floats into Bioware's studios and endorses SWTOR
  • SWTOR then begins to make new content at a faster pace
  • Each new game update contains datacrons
  • Powered by the force of the Holy Trinity, new expansions are released faster than we can 100% the ones before
  • Each expansion contains new datacrons
  • All the old players now have to go get the new ones
  • People Start to talk about Datacrons
  • Datacrons become a thing again under the light of our lord and saviour, Jesus Christ

 

So..... that could happen.

But I think its easier if you just make a new guild, recruit on the starting planets, and take noobs on datacron hunts as you build a community - because datacrons are a social task and attractive when simply hanging out in ops groups or with 2 or 3 mates.

Shards are collected per-character, not per-legacy.

Re-run? Are you nuts? Some of those datacrons are so painful to get, they should just reward us without re-running it to those that already have all the datacrons in their shared legacy.

That’s actually a really good idea and would keep people doing them.

 

Do you remember when you had to do them for each Alt :eek:

It's such a large section of content that could be dual purposed, so it's sad to see things like it just sit and languish in the game. There are many more missed opportunities, and even though I know things likely won't change, I still hold out some level of hope.
