Let's start from the assumption that every MMORPG I have ever played has had to do major readjustments once they introduce new levels and gear. The Good According to current pronouncements, left side gear will now be legacy-wide, they are getting rid of slot-locking mods, and they are introducing a new piece of gear called a tactical item and a new advanced class ability. The Bad By introducing so many new variables, I think it is a given that it will be incumbent upon us as players to help them figure out which new combinations of gear, tactical items, etc. will be overpowered, etc. This isn't meant to bash BW. I'm serious when I say that despite all the advanced notice, players will find new and creative ways to discover something ridiculously overpowered. What will make it more inherently difficult is that it will be situation and contextually specific; e.g., one combo that might be overpowered in Arena may not be in Operations, etc.. At least BW said they will be discussing these issues sooner rather than later. TL-DR: I anticipate much chaos. It will be both glorious and painful. Dasty Edited May 6, 2019 by Jdast

kodrac Posted May 6, 2019 Posted May 6, 2019 I think it's pretty safe to assume it's a scatter gun approach. They're introducing so many variables, as Dasty said, and more loot to RNG our way through. Add to that the haphazard way they've approached gearing the last couple of years leaves me with low expectations. And with just 6 months before release they're asking for ideas. So, yeah, I expect the usual mad scramble post launch.

Totally agree with the bad part. I'm very sure that we will have variables that will be totally broken on some classes in 4 man PVP. That is exactly what current mercs need, but could also help PT Dps become better.
Nemmar Posted May 7, 2019 Posted May 7, 2019 The new gear will no doubt bring OP combinations that need tuning down. Since i returned to the game 4 months i've seen to class balance patches and it really worries me. The whole PvP has way too much burst/damage. It needs to be toned down and the new combo's will undoubtidly make it worse and will require relatively regular and emergency balance patches, but i dunno if the devs can do that.
Raynn Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 Pretty sure they’re going to ignore PvP completely. At least that’s the feeling I got from their presentation. They spent 10 minutes talking about what they’ve done for PvP in the last 2 years but only released upcoming info on PvE stuff. More than likely it will just be a mad scramble to balance everything a few months after it drops and then they’ll piss off everyone because no one likes things being taken away. I just hope they decided to give us Vanguard tanks a hug this time. After 7 years of being beaten into the ground by the nerf bat l, a little affection would be a nice change of pace...
