SteveTheCynic Posted May 4, 2019 Posted May 4, 2019 Can someone please assist. Getting this error and have deleted all Temp files and folders No. We can't assist because you didn't say where you were getting the error.
Avonesay Posted May 4, 2019 Author Posted May 4, 2019 My Bad. So when I click download and it puts in on my address bar. The Setup.exe file. I click that and then the box pops up with the error message.
JediQuaker Posted May 4, 2019 Posted May 4, 2019 (edited) It's still a bit unclear. But, try right-clicking on setup.exe and selecting "Run as Administrator". Edited May 4, 2019 by JediQuaker
Avonesay Posted May 5, 2019 Author Posted May 5, 2019 Ok Step by Step. I log in on http://www.swtor.com Click on My account. Click on Game Download Click on Ready Download Then in the bottom of my browser it starts the file. It gets to 31.9. I click on it to open it. Another box pops up I click Run Then I get the Error box.
SteveTheCynic Posted May 5, 2019 Posted May 5, 2019 It gets to 31.9 ***what***? Percent? Gogglyplops? MB? When you're reporting problems, you have to put some effort into describing what you're seeing because we aren't in a position to look over your shoulder and see what's on your screen. OK, never mind. I looked myself. MB. And I had no problem. What OS are you using? (Windows, and if so, which Windows (number *and* Home/Pro/etc); Linux (which one?), MacOS?) Is your disk full? Does your user account have access to Administrator privileges?
Avonesay Posted May 5, 2019 Author Posted May 5, 2019 31.9 MB. All Firewalls and Antivirus turned off. Windows 7. I played this game for years never had this issue. Did everything tech support told me to do and still nothing. I have tried using Firefox, Chrome, and IE and still the same error.
JediQuaker Posted May 5, 2019 Posted May 5, 2019 (edited) It sounds like a "permissions" issue. Is your Windows user account an "administrator" and/or have you tried right-clicking on setup.exe and selecting "Run as Administrator"? Btw, you shouldn't need to go through your browser every time. You must have downloaded "setup.exe" - possibly in several places - and it should still be there - "there" being wherever you and/or your browser downloaded it too. Use your browser or Windows Explorer to find where setup is and run it as administrator. Also, a helpful hint - to avoid possible future permissions issues, don't install SWTOR to the default "Program Files" folder. Instead, create a new folder, such as "games", to install it to. Avonesay Posted May 5, 2019 Author Posted May 5, 2019 You are correct. It was a permissions issue on my temp folder.
JediQuaker Posted May 5, 2019 Posted May 5, 2019 I'm glad I could help and thank you for actually posting that you solved the issue. Most of the time the thread just ends and no-one knows how it turned out.
