So this guide is basically for new players that might want to role a Sniper. Just to give people in advance what the class is about and other aspects of what to expect.

First thing is the Sniper is a ranged dps class. As you level, you should learn a few things about this class ranging from energy use to whats your main stat.

The main stat of a Sniper is Cunning, however there are other useful stats that will also be important end game for example crit rating. I wont go over this much since this pertains to endgame really.

Your resource system in this game is Energy. Now its a very simple system but requires some practice to get used to and do correctly. When you look at your energy bar you notice that you have yellow arrows next to your bar. Depending on how much energy you have left you regen faster/slower. What you want to aim for is to not go under 60% energy. The reason for this is because under 60% is when you start to regen SLOWER. A very useful talent to take as a sniper is I believe is called Energy tanks which moves your max energy up 10 points. This makes it easier to manage keeping yourself over 60%. At lower levels and regular quests its not a big deal to burst and waste all your energy since you regen after a fight anyway but in a flashpoint on a boss its very important to manage your energy.

There is also the cover system that the Snipers use. This is basically a way for you to stay behind cover while firing your gun. There are certain abilities that can ONLY be used in cover which are your heavy hiting shots. Now this might sound like it is very unforgiving to move around but that is not correct. Later in the talent trees for example you get a talent that lets your Snipe be instant cast everytime you enter cover. So if you are wondering if this class can be moblie it can. You have several shots that are instant cast while moving. For straight DPS you have to manage how much you are in cover and when to move out of danger.

For players wondering what companion you start off with its basically a tank companion. This helps keep enemies far away so you can deal damage from afar. Once you get past the 20s its important to gear your companion up as well as yourself. Make sure every level you are upgrading a piece or two as not not underpower your companion and slow down your leveling process due to dying.

As for players trying to level a toon based on story wise the Imperial Agent line is very interesting. I will not spoil anything but to give a very quick summary of the story, you are basically an agent that does all the dirty work for the empire. You are used when the Empire cannot afford to send in an army as to keep things undercover. You are lying, cheating, and killing your way to get the job done.

I hope this guide helps anyone that is deciding on playing a sniper and wants to know what to expect and if its the right thing for you!
