SWTOR playable on Mac ..?

Hi all ...

So far I haven't been lucky enough to get this game going on my iMac. I've tried installing it under VMWare and Parallels. VM didn't do anything while the game was playable under Parallels but only with a framerate not higher then 2.. ;0(

The only option I have now is completely re-install my Mac to be able to install Bootcamp. What I'd like to know is (before I'm even going to try this) if there are people here that actually have SWTOR running under Bootcamp.

Thanks in advance for your kind responces.

I run it on my macbook pro 2011 with the 6750m 1 gb video card, running 16gb of ram and a 256 GB SSD. Runs fine in bootcamp since it's windows.

You need to make sure your machine meets minimum specs in general before trying in bootcamp though.

You definitely wont be able to run it using virtual machine software like parallels.

The only way is via windows using boot camp. Its a sad reality that macs games don't perform as well as windows owing to the general neglect of OpenGL. On windows you have direct x which is under constant improvement.

It would be positive to see a mac client come out mind you because if you have a mac you really dont want to be running Windows.

Provided your machine meets the minimum requirements under windows you will be able to run it fine. Bear in mind you wont be able to max out settings if your Mac is several years old. but it depends upon the spec of your computer.

I used to have an iMac and I loved it but with no options to upgrade I built my own desktop PC which I can update and run Mac OSX as a Macintosh machine. I have all the positives of Mac OSX and Windows for games without the expense. Even now after four years the motherboard and processor are the same as an entry level Mac Pro which are running at about £2,000.

If you ever come to replace your mac its an option definitely worth considering.

I play on an iMac, but you need to use Bootcamp. I would recommend turning off a few Windows 7 features that are rarely used to boost the performance (such as the search feature and other services). My framerate is pretty low, but you can boost it by doing a few things in both bootcamp and in the game menu.

I use bootcamp on my macbook pro, 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7 processor and 4GB memory. I partitioned my bootcamp drive with about 85GB space. It seems plenty enough to accommodate windows, swtor, and any add ons and updates I may install in the future. So far it's running very smoothly. I've experienced minor lag, but it's hard to tell if it's the server, my internet, or my mac...Hope this is helpful, gl to you :D.

PS- I'm going to take Zadakah's advice and turn off some of the functions of windows to improve the experience.
