nbrooks
This laptop runs like crap. Low settings and it still lags out like crazy. It becomes unplayable when the fans spin up so I'm thinking it has to do with overheating but it doesn't even play that well from the start. I also have a $500 desktop with an I3 and a gforce 480 or something. That one has watercooling so it stays really cool. It plays great with no lag at all. I'm just wondering if this is all related to heat, why can't it run well from the start on high graphics. ------------------ System Information ------------------ Time of this report: 12/29/2011, 11:09:51 Machine name: NATHANSLAPTOP Operating System: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1 (7601.win7sp1_gdr.110622-1506) Language: English (Regional Setting: English) System Manufacturer: Hewlett-Packard System Model: HP ENVY 17 Notebook PC BIOS: InsydeH2O Version 03.61.01F.18 Processor: Intel® Core i7-2630QM CPU @ 2.00GHz (8 CPUs), ~2.0GHz Memory: 8192MB RAM Available OS Memory: 8140MB RAM Page File: 7256MB used, 9021MB available Windows Dir: C:\Windows DirectX Version: DirectX 11 DX Setup Parameters: Not found User DPI Setting: 96 DPI (100 percent) System DPI Setting: 120 DPI (125 percent) DWM DPI Scaling: Disabled DxDiag Version: 6.01.7601.17514 64bit Unicode DxDiag Previously: Crashed in system information (stage 4). Yuichix
If it is heat spend $20-30 and buy a cooling pad for it. They help.

I'm actually waiting on one to come in the mail, they're cheap so I figured even if its not the problem it can't hurt. Thanks

derkiederk
Seems they have some serious problems with AMD cards, especially the mobile ones. Fairly typical though, often new games run terribly on AMD until they get some new drivers out with optimizations.

I got a cooler in and it limits the lag to when the fans spin up. I'm not on high settings but its playable at least. this stupid Video card doesn't even properly recover from hibernate with more than one monitor. I'm thinking they need to update the drivers
