rangerlump
Source: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=79571 So, since I rolled Sorc to heal, Is there a preferred leveling spec? I notice these boards seems split 50/50 lightning/madness. Got my first 7 points in lightning (as per the guide)... I was gonna go up the healing tree next, but may just trudge onward with a DPS tree after reading that thread.
Wheelerific
Not sure what 7 points you put into lightning, but: http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#201GhZfZcM0M.1 Is about as core as you can get. Stinkflipper
That topic is 100% Wrong. Sorcs heals have Bubble/Speed boost/Team Player Pull/Aoe heal/Hots/CC/LIFE TAP Theres nothing we are missing over the other healers. might die a little fater than the others but its not an issue... Roll Biochem get your self a 50 Medpac..... Aka heal tell OOM Life tap to 75%ish mana Medpac/hot your self back in the game. anyone who says we are not top tier for healing in this game is A playing it wrong or B Never played it. rangerlump
Thanks Stinkflip you restored some confidenence. Sidenote: is leveling up the corruption tree worth it or just go lightning or madness and respec at 50? I dont mind killing slower. I tried a sniper to 15 and I avoided gold elites as they rolled my face. As a sorc, I just yawn and send the tank in, bubble, spam lightning and profit. I dont mine slower, as long as its effective hehe.
Ahtan
People that say Sorcs suck at healing have played with bad or non-heal spec'd sorcs. I'm a level 40 sorc, with full corruption spec. At my current level, all of the content I've had to heal through was ridiculously easy. It was mildly stressful up until I got Innervate, but once I got that, and the enhancement for it that makes consumption free, it's been a breeze. Basic rotation is to bubble at least your tank and melee DPS (preferably the entire party) with static barrier, which will have essentially no cooldown because of skill points. After your tank engages and has aggro, you throw Resurgence on him, for the HoT, armor buff, and to proc Force Bending. Force Bending is important, if you don't abuse it, you will fail as a healer. In most situations, you can simply follow up on Resurgence with Innervate. If any of the ticks on it crit (which they are 25% more likely to do because of Force Bending), then you have a free Force Consumption. This essentially makes our Force pool a non-issue in fights - I finish most same-level flashpoint bosses with 3/4 of my force pool remaining. For DPS that take aoe damage, bubble + Resurgence will take care of them 90% of the time. Bubble is your friend, use it on everyone every time the 20 second debuff is off of them. If they need a slight top off after Resurgence, use purge, with the skill point it also adds a small flat heal. If your tank is still being bursted down after you Innervate, pop another resurgence on him for Force Bending, then use Dark Infusion to burst heal him - it will have a 1.5 sec channel because of skill points invested and Force Bending, which is nowhere near too long in any of the content I've run so far. I have yet to have my tank ever fall below 50% hp on same level content - and they only fall that far when they get knocked out of range of my heals. My force pool never falls below 50% from any given fight - boss or otherwise. Worst healing class? Not from where I'm standing.
hardicon
i dont know about that thread but the few sorcerers ive ran with that are specced heal, it was enough to keep us all alive. they run out of force sometimes but we have skills to get that back. I know as a lightning specced sorcerer ive healed just about every single 4 man heroic mission without a problem, or very little problems anyway. ive also had to take over healing in a few boss fights on flashpoints when the healer got nuked and didnt have a problem keeping the rest of the group up. on top of that i dont run out of force as fast as some of the healer specced guys do. i did run one heroic with a IA healer and I would have to constantly throw heals out on people because the IA couldnt keep up, not sure if that was the player or the class though or just wasnt specced right and claimed to be a healer but wasnt. so imo sorcerer healing is fine, even lightning specced healing is fine for most stuff, wont be for end game raids im sure but for most heroics and flashpoints im sure i could heal them. Tathir
Being a sorceror healer takes the right stats and proper management of resources. If you are specced full healing and make use of your bubble instead of just mashing a heal button, things go so much better. Also, the proc for free consumption is key. I have gone somewhat heavy on the crit side of things to accomodate this but not to the point that it gimps my regular heals. All in all I went willpower>crit>power and I have had no issues. If you do the math and look at how much healing you are getting per point of force spent, the rotation becomes obvious. Much of this is dependent on your tank as well, but I'm loving the sorceror. Stinkflipper
a little somthing to back up what i said.. heres one of Void star.. http://img33.imageshack.us/img33/8130/screenshot2011122719315.jpg And Civil War http://img834.imageshack.us/img834/3440/screenshot2011122820233.jpg both 300k + healing per round. @ 50 i would not recomend leveling as a healer it just takes 2 much time. + Along the line u get to some class quests where there are Healing NPCS u have to fight and with just your comp and your dots its a bit rugish. My Current lvl 50 heal spec "Mind you i'm 99.9% Pvping" http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#201hGrRrdrkhzZf00MZ0M.1 Here is the spec i used to lvl http://db.darthhater.com/skill_calc/sith_inquisitor/sorcerer/#::f3ef4ef2e3fe2f22e2fefefde10: I put all my points into madness 1st then moved up the Lighting tree. i died maybe 3 times from 1-50 to NPCS Always used a tank pet. Khem untell 45 then Xalek Hope that helps
ShaftyMcShaft
Even if it's true it doesn't matter. This is an MMO...whatever class you choose you're going to be riding the nerf train each patch. Sure, go reroll bounty hunter to heal, and by the time you're leveled...oops, new patch, they buffered sorcerers and nerfed bh. Best switch again! Don't worry about it. Just play the class you want and roll with the punches. Just be sure to whine on the forums A LOT regardless of how we're doing, because the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Lintlock
I am leveling as a healer and can do all 2+ heroic content solo... I don't mind killing slow... I had a lot of practice slow killing in wow as a warlock during 1.2.... Nothing, I repeat nothing is slower than a warlock before 1.8. 3rd companion + dots and force lightning == win!!! Gandalor
There is a nice trick with that talent Force Bending and Innervate. ( probably not intended ) Most of the time you get the procc for that free Consumtion before the last tick from Innervate, if that happens and you cast Dark Infusion,AE heal or Dark Heal, before Innervate ends, it get the benefit from Force Bending ( means 2 benefits from 1 Resurgance ). But i wrote already a ticket for that ( but got no answer yet ) maybe they fix it So long Samen <TANTRUM> lvl 50 Sorc ps: and i´m sorry for my bad english :> Edited December 30, 2011 by Gandalor
Nicarras
You get two because of the terrible engine and it happens with lots of other skills and procs too. Healing as this class is fine as long as you read all your abilities and talents and use the synergies in the class has.
